On Bank holiday Monday, Penlee Lifeboat held an open day where you could go inside the old station that launched the Solomon Browne when it attended a call to the Union Star. Through the rough sea weather the crew of Solomon Browne got 4 people on board their boat and then the radios went silent. The next morning members of the public heard the news that both ships were wrecked on the cliff edge, all 8 crew from the lifeboat and the 8 people from the Union Star were killed. The Severn Class lifeboat was also open to the public where you could walk around the boat and have a look at all the equipment a boat holds.
