Hi Penn Fathom reel repairer thanks for the info just ordered one for me and a friend who owns a tackle shop in Wellington New Zealand and another who services washing machines what a great tool. Those clips have a brain and go in any direction as well

Hi Your work on this reel is very good. I am about to buy a Penn Fathom 25L2D and I was very interested in your disassembly. What I would very like to know is what is the make of the c clip tool. In the video I can see the part number 350 14 but could not pick up the maker. At a guess it looks like a Snap On tool is that correct?

nice video, after I greases and oiled my reel I hear a grinding noise when I use the reel to test the drag. Did I put too much grease or not enough you think? the grinding comes from the clocker side on the left

Hi do you know how to unscrew the drag knob on the new generation pen fathom ii ld 2 speed? You have to pull the knob to adjust it. Also my free spool was very bad so I was thinking to take apart just the drag knob and not the reel handle and put oil in parts where the spool rotates, does that sound like the right thing to do?
I'm sorry, I do not. But I would bet it is also the same if the mechanism to disengage the low gear is to turn the ring over the button. if you want lubricate the spool bearing you can remove the side plates without removing the handle. nice thing about my Penn and Avet lever drag.
Thank you brad this video has been a tremendous help to me. The new models drag adjustment knob requires that you pull it out to turn it. I know you have to remove this knob to get to the spool bearings. So I’m going to try and loosen it while pulling it out at the same time.
It happened to me. It was because I was under and over tightening the preset knob. Position the lever to "free" then loosen the preset knob. Tighten little by little until drag engages. Hope that helps.
Hello sr, what You use to clean it outside after salty water fishing? You use wd40 to clean outside? And also wich oil and Grease to use? I don't have acces to fishing reel lubricants, like penn abu garcis etc. Also, the bearings of the fathom 2 are ceramic? If not, it worth yo upgrade yo ceramic ones?. Thanks and have a Nice day
I believe the Penn has stainless bearing. I don’t know much about ceramic bearings. If you need to replace the bearings. I would suggest use OEM parts.
I watched your video with interest & I would like to start servicing some of my own reels to save money. Can you recommend the basic tools & products that you use. What degreaser is that & where can I find it? Thanks!

To tell you honestly I don’t use the reel to much. It’s too big for the type of fishing I do. But I know someone in the Philippines who uses a fathom lever drag single speed almost every day and he said it was dependable . He did have to service the reel every 2 months though.
