I took my new Spinfisher out to see how it paired with my tried and true Lamiglass Insane Surf. It reel felt pretty refined (for a Penn) and wasn't too heavy for the rod. The large diameter spool made it a great casting reel and it handled a 30 pound bat ray very well, although there was some issue with cranking under a heavy load which I attribute to the high gear ratio and sub par main gear support. Overall I give it a B+ but we'll see how it holds up over time.
