This has to be one of the best punk albums of all time, I listened to it endlessly as a kid and decades later still remember every word and note. Seems a lot of others grew up listening to it too or it served as a gateway album into punk or metal, and it doesn’t get the recognition.

That's why I'm glad the first albums my older cousin who had a bunch of punk/hardcore and crossover thrash and thrash metal bands (still to this day, I am like him, I like some other styles of metal, but thrash metal, when done right, takes precedence on all metal forms, since it couldn't exist without early 80's hardcore punk). The album that made me love both punk/hardcore AND metal, something that was forbidden by the cliques in my grade 9-12 years, which was a stupid, but I guess necessary part of growing up if you're going to get into music, now I can enjoy anything that isn't country or top 40 pop / pop/rock and what passes for heavy music on your typical FM radio station, where stuff from the only ok Smashing Pumpkins album, all the hits on that double album are in common rotation along with the Foo Fighters (and not their good songs on the first 2 albums) and mega crap that makes me sad they are from my country ie Nickleback is the only rock you'll hear, and if you hear Metallica it'll be a black album ballad or Fuel 🤣 Anyways, as I was saying, the bridge album for me was Undisputed Attitude by Slayer, I only really knew Minor Threat and D.I. from the bands they covered on there at the time (1997 or 1998?), the album where they cover hardcore punk and punk rock songs form the 80's, the way they made Filler roll into I don't Wanna Hear It with a typical Slayer solo dual exchange made my young mind melt and jaw drop from how fucking hard Bostaph was drumming on the whole album, I wish they covered Cause For Alarm, I have old pictures from the late 80's from a website that doesn't exist anymore from the early '00s with Jeff Hanneman showing his hardcore punk vinyl collection and he was pointing at that first CFA release, the self titled from 82, one of the best thing Victory Records did was to reissue it on CD in the mid 90's, nobody was playing as fast as CFA back in 1982, it's surprising no Cause For Alarm covers were on it, Hanneman lists about 12 great hardcore/punk records from the early/mid 80's and my man had taste. But yup, Fletcher wasn't a lazy guitarist in those first 4 albums, and he had solos on almost every songs on Unknown Road, the songs he had left they used on Full Circle after that I guess the absence of Jason started to show, not immediately, but the fact Jason and Fletcher would use credits to say who wrote which song, having 2 song writers helps a lot, when one leaves (see Bad Religion, Greg managed to pull one great album all by himself with a little help on 2 tracks from the legend but still new to BR Brian Baker, well I think Baker outright wrote "Nobody Listens" and "The Streets of America", it showed Brett was missing. All this to say, they had one hell of a killer lineup, Randy's very good, especially on Full Circle when he joined, but I don't think he wrote songs after that album, it was all Fletcher all the time and he was able to do it for 2 albums and then from From The Ashes and on, they don't have albums such as this one that's one amazing song after the other, there's always some good ones but the inspiration's hard to come by. Anyways, my history lesson and slight bitching is over, just agreed with you a whole lot, this is one of the first few punk albums I had when I started to get into punk and hardcore punk (not much of a fan of new school hardcore as we called those bands playing groove metal but somehow were labeled hardcore because of the label they were on), this Offspring's Ignition/Smash, Propagandhi's first 2 albums ( they only had 2 then), Lagwagon's Trashed and I think The Vandals - Live Fast, Diarrhea is likely why I never got into pop punk, even the non commercial stuff. My other cousin was big time into Blink, he had Cheshire Cat with the Blink moniker, not Blink-182, before they were threatened legal action when that album became almost as popular as Offspring's Smash did out of nowhere just by people sharing mixtapes. I only liked it a little when Tom sang, since he was trying to sing like a blend between Fat Mike and Ben Weasel back then, it's funny how not their first hit, but a lot of those first hits were sang by Mark and I thought he had the weeniest of weeny voices, worse than John's voice in his songs when he was with Propagandhi on those first 2 albums. I'm real glad I wasn't one who got in through Green Day's Dookie, the hits on Dookie were so overplayed, I remember the local stations who are half Blink and Mr. T Experience and that kind of stuff, not outright ramonescore, but bands who never play faster than a typical Ramones song or who were trying to be NOFX clones but even poppier were not my "cup of tea" and still aren't. Only exception would be Screeching Weasel and that's because they played a lot of different type of stuff on their golden age (which stopped when they first broke up and that Kill The Musicians comp came out, then their first comeback was a success, for a while. tl;dr same! that album steered my musical ship in the right direction just as I was getting into punk and hardcore punk when I was 13-14 and what an album to have in your first 10 records rotation....also it's a theme album, something I didn't notice back then, and only realized after a while, when I got to know what a theme album was 🤣Time man, don't procrastinate because it will never help you, take time to relax when deserved for sure, but overworking yourself to death in a job you hate is def not the way to go.

So many people longing to be Living their lives regretlessly Trying to repress the pain in their lives Reassuring themselves, living with lies No way to break through, not on my own Can't push away all the sorrow I've known Have to release every thought or care And take control, life is a dare Can't start over today Live my life a different way Can't find a way to erase bad times To make everything OK I'll start over and live Every single day Every single day, Every single day, yeah Regrets and memories, no remorse, no apologies No reason for me to despair, no future at all Ask if I care I've got time on my side, twenty four hours in my life Can't hang on to what's in my past Full speed ahead, hard and fast Can't start over today Live my life a different way Can't find a way to erase bad times To make everything OK I'll start over and live Every single day Every single day, Every single day, yeah At the end with each dropping sun Can't erase what has been done Who cares what happened long ago I don't want to know Can't start over today Live my life a different way Can't find a way to erase bad times To make everything OK I'll start over and live Every single day Can't face tomorrow with these thoughts of yesterday I can't escape the lies and make them go away Wish I had the answers to help me make it through Can't shake these images no matter what I do I guess I'll use them to make me a stronger man I'll use each twisted tortured memory to help me understand And I will learn from mistakes that everyone makes I've got to find a way I guess I'll have to live with them every single day Every single day, Every single day, yeah Every single day!
