I mean, Bob Lutz gave the designers a blank check and told them they didn't report to anyone else on the car design. Lee Iacocca got Shelby involved at one point. It was a car built with the purpose of being a stand out halo exotic killer. The last of a great era.
It's like this because the car was so capable (and still is). It's why the Viper is my favorite car. Only a fool wouldn't like this car - and, of course, the crybaby corvette owners.
@@mahdi786003 Literally tomorrow will mark 4 years for this exact video. And I'm pretty sure Advanced Auto Parts uploaded it a few months after Pennzoil did.
The stakkato at 1:18 or the flames at 1:45 - PERFECTION! As owner of a Gen. 4 I can tell that the sidepipes, the sound and the VVT kicking in at 5000 RPM are never getting old or boring ;-)
@@devandrasimanjuntak1646 Yeah, Mahle CamInCam. It was the first OHV engine with VVT. But be assured: it only has two modes: small valve overlap for 'low' emissions and good performance in lower RPMs and flat-out mode for over 5000 RPM with bigger valve overlap and the advantages of so called 'scavenging'. Exhaust valve timing is adjusted by 30° when VVT kicks in - sound and adrenaline pure :-) You can find some tuners who deactivate VVT so that the engine timing always is in beast mode ... the 9L Prefix engines for example: Idling with this 'bad' enginge timing results in the most oldschool muscle car rumbling (they had the same 'problem' with fixed timing for performance). Rumor has it that Dick Winkles and his folks at SRT tried many different VVT-strategies (adjusting inlet and not exhaust timing), but they were quite surprised when they found out that variable inlet doesn't have many pros ... exhaust timing on the other hand allowed them to keep the emissions in check AND two burst open the gates to hell :-D
I've been watching this since it came out when I was a junior in High School. It still manages to give me chills every time I watch. Long live the v8Eatr
Kinda yea, but you know what would be the absolute blasphemy? Turning this car into a half blood vacuum cleaner. The next gtr is supposed to be a hybrid, the new supra is a piece of shit, Ford GT got a fucking v6 ecowhateverthefuck it's called. Better die a legend than turn into an embarrassing shit box
@Jamal BBCLife i completely agree with you. I just dont get why people hate the supra for TRENDS. It just looks ugly. Got 350+ hp stock and lots of potential under the hood.
@@rafidirtizaahnaf485 the original supra looked much worse than the new one tbh... most people dislike the looks of the old supra but the 2jz just makes it one of the best toyotas ever build. The new Supra is more a BMW than a Toyota which is not bad when considering that its a sportscar
yellow bottle was at 0:55 behind the viper and next to the cargo crate. i spent too long looking for that lmao for those who dont know the sign at 1:34 says "look for the yellow bottle"
Mad respect to Pennzoil for letting the viper go out with a bang. I dont think nobody will touch this at all. R.I.P VIPER you had a good run and u will be missed
@@Bournefort Dude How old are you ..... 8 ? , It's to give the idea, that just arrived..... obvioulsy its fake..... Your the kind of person to tell averyone at the Cinema that the movie was fake..
These cinematic shots are on another level, holy freaking shit! I feel it translates so well what it's like to be a car guy, it's not just explosions and drifting scenes it's about connecting to that car whether you ever get to drive it or not. Big ups to pennzoil
I remember watching this ad. Dodge really made Viper into some legend from fictional story. They discontinued it when it was at the top of its game. If I could keep only one car, this would be it. Truly the car of a protagonist.
I remember watching this in my childhood this is one of the few things that got me into cars as I am seeing this again there are tears flowing down my eyes bringing back the nostalgia 😢❤❤❤
@@jaxfrederick6144 It’s not coming, initially they said but they botched it. I hope they come out with one soon, I love my viper but it’s time for something new
Which is kinda good and also, lets be honest, if not a fact that half world is braindead and other side just has diff interests, we have a chance to get this gem car.
@@arturspaskevics3436tbh I'm just happy that the viper existed in the first place, even though the chances of this being brought back is unlikely. And I would like it to stay that way just so that the viper don't get any less raw, like what happened with the ev challenger dodge made
Thank you viper. My first dream car from when I was a child. Never got the chance to own one and likely never will but still remember one of the times seeing one in person when I was a child among the backdrop of a massive glacier. Was incredible
Let's be real. If we saw a Viper in Fast & Furious again, it would be the absolute top car. Would make Toretto's Charger R/T look like an Oldsmobile. The Viper is an American SUPERCAR. There is no equal to it in America outside of Dodge.
@@ZoMTDU Yeah but liiiike, they sure don't act like it. The ZR1 and Viper will take down supercars numerous times soooo.. I dunno. I was moreso directing my previous comment to the statement about there being no equal to the Viper.
funny animal production I hope you don’t mean in a straight line lol and it’s not you can say that about most lambos yea but not the performante or the svj both faster around the Nurburgring and in the 1/4 mile
1:25 - 1:31 is fucking perfection gawd! V8 EATR plate, viper rattling and lightning up on the dashboard and then BOOM like from 50. cal and you see that yellow bullet flying down the road! Whole video is edited to perfection, truly great work!
