Mid tier cruisers are some of the most challenging to play, especially the squishy Pensacola. This game is not focused on high damage or amazing shots, but rather the importance of intelligent positioning.
People have requested some simple guides featuring older ships, so why not the squishy Pensacola and something basic, but so incredibly important, like positioning. Insta: instagram.com/flamugram/ Stream: www.twitch.tv/flamuu Twitter: twitter.com/flamuchz Discord: discord.gg/Flamu
Cam you feature the french tier 6 cruiser La galissoniere? I'm a noob, i started that line because i started to play when french ships where introduced, haven't played fo a long time, started again , and a quick guide whould go a long way ! First skills on captain whould help too !
Videos like this should be required homework for anyone playing WoWs. There is a distinct lack of tutorial information for the early / new players within the game itself and it shows. Keep it up Flamu!
I've always noticed and felt that WoWS, WoT [which is trash nowadays imo] and some other games have either bare bones, limited or just no tutorials at all. On one side of the coin, its nice to learn things on your own and the satisfaction of learning and doing well after it is a good feeling! But on the flip, a majority of players can *and will* fail all the way up to Tier 10. I do plan on making a tutorial but im lazy and real life's in the way, so disregard this whole sentence :P
Ahhh, good old Flamu. Please, dont forget to make this kind of videos with explanation of basic tactics and highlighting the common players mistakes. Thanks a lot.
I remembered a year ago where you review the Pensacola since it’s down-tiered to tier 6 and play on this exact map and pretty much explain both Pensa and how to understand map positioning. Time flies so fast.
I have watched a LOT of your videos since I started playing WoW. And I have to say, this is the best "how to cruiser" video on the subject. Brilliant!!!!!
This is great content, Flamu. It reminds me of your earlier videos, from which I learned to play the game. If possible pls continue with those, you are helping the playerbase in getting better, leading to an overall much more enjoyable gaming experience.
Great guide. This is the tier I'm primarily at. I love playing the budyonny and the german cruiser (nurnberg?) as well. These techniques can hopefully increase my success.
Flamu, i love that you are back on RU-vid. I value your commentary very high , and put above on many youtubers. This is the form of building your brand that is very trustworthy , I hope u won't find more time for it. Maybe it won't monetize u in a strick way by certainly in a long run - so I hope I will be still able to post some commentary's here in more of a weekly basics. Your donator ;)
Been watching these, since I stupidly decided to come back and level the Tillman BBs. Reteaching me stuff I forgot..needless to say it's helped. Along with playing a smattering of everything else too.
With just over 2,000 games played this shows me just how many things I did not know that I did not know. My overall stats would be better if I did not go through so many growing pains early on and my game play would be better right now if I had not developed some bad habits. I was once a Half-Life master and it was a pure mad man style that did it for me so the adjustment has been hard. I have been changing things as of late with better results but info like this is invaluable. Thanks Flamu.
I used to hate the Pepsicola at T7 but at T6 it is actually really strong against the same tier, yeah it can be deleted pretty easy but more T7 cruisers are like that. The guns are just so good for the tier with that improved autobounce angle at deleting other cruisers and with good positioning it is very strong in T6 ranked. I got to rank 1 with it last time.
Shed 1 tear for a beraved gaming youtuber scoring one less Kraken. XD Seriously, thank you for the tactical insights! I play the Pensa pretty successful (for my level, completely potato for your level) but very differently - so I learned a lot on how else to play it!
@@thesjnative2911 The Yorck has its good points, don't get me wrong. I wanted to enjoy it, but having my engine break twice in ten seconds from DD fire and being a sitting duck detracts from the experience.
Scharn got nerfed hard with the BB AP change on DDs. You get wrecked by carriers. Your guns can't deal reliable damage to battleships and you get burned down a lot. Don't mistake fun for strong.
You would think that a lot of people would laugh at the simple instructions Flamu gives for survival but it's amazing the amount of potatoes who just ignore them and get deleted in the beginning of the game.
My favorite are the cruisers that call me a pussy in chat for not pushing my DD into a heavily infested cap with an Atlanta sitting nearby then yolo charge past and die 20 seconds later.
GG Excellent This video was well done. I know it's just gameplay but very good gameplay. I learned a few new things and you very much reinforced the gameplay I wanted to have. I know the PC version is far superior but I've been playing in the PS4 and it is an unbelievably slow grind. I've admittedly have been getting impatient and pushing too far in or reclining too far back. Watching your gameplay I think I'm going to change my upgrade to a tighter dispersion mod for more consistent hits. TY so much for sharing. I'll be in a better mood TY very much
Jesus I really miss this ship......Haven't play this game for more than a year, but This ship is one of the ships that makes me really enjoy this game (I mean since the version that its concealment buff to
I would say "amazing" damage for a Pensacola. If I remember correctly it does not get the "super heavy" AP that comes along at the higher tiers. Very useful commentary.
@@spacialsonic7779 WoWs spotting as it is implemented allows for predictable results, which is what you need if you want to really minmax. What I have noticed when you are the spotter, is that a lot of the time which could be spent doing other tasks is devoted to spotting, which for the better or worse changes the way you play to be more akin to chess, minmaxing spotting. Not gonna lie about the implementation- but I always find it funny when I'm in a cruiser out-spotted by a stealth BB build.
I missed these informative vids, started this game bit more than 4 years ago and your uploads back than helped me a lot. I`m still suicidal, but you showed me when it was a useless offer. Good to see you back at it, for the time being . . . Lately i have a heap of fun sailing the Shchors with a 19 point captain, would love to see how you handle that one, if it pleases you to do so some day. Till than all the best to you and your flock/herde of weebs!
Hi @Flamu. Thank you for this video. I've watched all your tutorial videos in the past. I'm happy to see an updated tutorial. Do you have advice on how to aim at and disable turrets? I was in a my Des Moines once. I was in a bow-in fight against another Des Moines. So I naturally switched to HE. Enemy stayed on AP. I initially took out a lot of HP from him, but he started disabling my turrets, and eventually blew up one. And so I lost that fight. And I realized that disabling enemy turrets is one of those tings unicum players do very well.
Just aim slightly higher, just like with cruiser AP vs battleships upper hull. Usefull if your guns are pretty accurate up close (cruisers, soviet and US BBs), because for example 406 mm guns have penetration about 700-800 mm at this distance.
If you try to apply this in the game: „Cruiser stop camping.“ „What are you doing? Push forward!“ „WTF, Cruiser is asleep?“ „Cruiser push those two battleship“
This ship surprised me the most out of all of the ships, i hated it before i got it due to thinking it was shit. Then i bought it and it was absolutely fine. I actually got my wr up and dmg avg after i got it. But it still wasn't fun to play, very challenging but rewarding win wise.
Lol I've clicked on "Back to port" at the end of the battle :D ... I was affraid of Pensacola when I've reached her but it turns out let's say not too bad regarding all the rumours out there
Hey Flamu, what cruiser line would you recommed as a first choice for T10 grind? I have the Cleve unlocked from before the split so can purchase that, other than that i got T6/T7 IJN, RU, French & RN. How is the Wooster on the T10 DPM list?
I have been grinding my way slowly to the Pensacola. Since even after 60+ co-op I still suck. I have found in games with a carrier if I can break out. I can find it and rain fire down on it and I have been in an Omaha the last 20+ battles.
they really need to rework AA and the defensive fire consumable. I recall back in the early day you could prioritize AA towards a specific squadron (kind of like how you can prioritize secondaries on a specific ship) perhaps they should bring that system back.
It would be cool if they made AA manual aim option with a huge boost so if you were skilled you could swat planes down easily. Especially US DDs with hybrid guns they should make AA an option like HE or AP.
Also, back in the day, the defensive fire consumable and fighters made CV drops far less accurate while being attacked. However, you were more screwed if you didn't have good AA than you are now since they could easily 1 strike you, which isn't really possible nowadays (with a few exceptions)
Also posting games where things go horribly wrong would be helpful, like a wrong turn in a slow BB or a DD who missed a detection, etc. Winning is good but learning from losing is the voyage to victory. :)
I play on my laptop with a gaming mouse and sometimes forget to disable my touchpad before I load the game. I play DD mostly and will be in no mans land with ships firing overhead and suddenly I will accidentally palm the touchpad and let a shot off. I end up back in port pretty quick after that.
Frankly all CCs should do tutorials like this all the time as recently player base seems to change. A lot of skilled and old players are becoming inactive and terrible games are happening multiple times a day. Yesterday night i rage quit the game (having my very 1st round) when we throw the round even having all the 4 caps (!) with 300 points and 2 ships advantage! And this is just one example how the quality of WoWs is decresing week by week...dunno how long this game gonna survive like this.
Nice video. Playing pensacola is like going to mats olimpic need to calculate every move every angle every ship on The mp. Bruhh i just skip to play it. IT is s-o stressfull ;)
Please do guide for JB or NC, this ship is some time too hard some time is too easy to play. I Mean, NC Shell is too slow. And JB, i don't why when i use this ship. I feel like to broadside than Angling.
Flamu desperate for Kraken at the end: "Gives broadside to the enemy battleship" Err he was on your side Flamu it's a team game 😉 He may be a rival for damage but enemy is harsh 😁
I ground through the Pensa when it was T7, God it was awful - but when they bumped it down to T6, especially T6 Ranked Sprint - I had rather a lot of fun in the Pensa - 8 Inch American AP was naaaaasty at that tier.
Pensacola wasn't actually that bad at tier 7 after the concealment buff. I ended up enjoying it. 10 guns, the great american AP, reload was 13 seconds IIRC, AA was decent. It was just the damn paper armor with that exposed citadel that was a massive drawback.
Nurnberg is literally do not get hit by BBs with 380mm+ guns. The turtleback is a joke because it can get overmatched by them, and iirc the citadel deck is also only 25mm which is again overmatchable
