I took her out and rediscovered the enjoyment ( and excitement) to be had in being a little weak armored and vulnerable etc etc and it made me remember the fun of my first foray into this great game. Its just a mindset that holds back the fun of the game re I need more powerful ship ! I need faster need $$$ premium !!! and it can get toxic ( and Stupid expensive too !! ) and we forget what originally caused us to say " Wow I love this game !!! " and as for grinding that's a mindset too !!! and now my Pepsicola is too my taste and i am going to play through without using global xp . This video highlights a very important lesson for new players. The goal is to take shooters out of the match. That can be done by sinking them, holding a position thereby preventing the enemy from advancing, or dragging the enemy to the edge of the map. Great video as usual 👍🙂👍
I love illustrative videos like this; this is another example of what another CC, TBull says is the zone of influence. I catch teammates off in the reeds falling to a kite and we end up losing real estate because of it. Great lessons here!
I just unlocked the Pensacola. I love it. I have Scott as my commander with almost only shell accuracy upgrades. It’s the first cruiser that I can confidently stand up to battleships with.
I agree, my pc wows tier 6 Pensacola is a true brawler. 2 broadside shots to sink full health cv, citadel same tier bbs. and this is with a 7 point captain so not even fully powered up with super heavy ap or many other captain skill benefits.
Sweet… the two best days for me with that ship are the day I got it and the day I finished the grind with it… it is fun for the most part though. Thanks for sharing!
The insane cringe of watching an easy win being thrown away is probably my biggest gripe, a DD being alive late game against no radars and battleships, easy dub right. This one could have went either way GG
Pensacola or molotov=best cruiser of tier 5 and below, depending on map, Pensacola is far superior close to medium range, but molotov is the best cruiser killer at range, even better than bbs! good video!
@@DerkaGames molotov just overpens due to velocity at closer ranges, and especially with the shrunken down bs maps, it suffers greatly. I never liked the nurnberg, the kiting position required disgusts my inner soul
New Orleans was also a struggle for the first 100k exp...oddly enough I played her with full agility after that and had a blast through the rest of the grind
Thanks Derka. I kinda liked the Penny. She was my 1st heavy I got (started with US line) and I fell in love with AP shells. Even now (a year later) I still rely heavily on AP including in my light cruzers. I used Scott with Lutgens and Yamamoto almost exclusively then. As long as I position well and don't need to use my turret traverse, she is deadly.
I really enjoy this ship tbh, and purely by accident picked the mods that made it so fun for me right from the start (one of the first lines I went up 2 years ago): Turret Traverse b/c I just instictively hated slow traverse, Rudder Shift b/c idk it worked for my American BBs so why not?, and Kinkaid commander b/c he was the only US cruiser commander I had. And I actually didn't out-turn my turrets with him (now I do slightly since Ingenius perk was nerfed). Most T5 BBs (and those who play them) aren't the most accurate so dodging is viable, and it absolutely has the pen to citadel nearly anything that goes broadside (Other than T6 BBs I've citadeled pretty much every ship it can face at least once).
Scott is one of my favorite commanders. I can run him on the Alaska (& Baltimore) and whack on bb's and cruisers and then change the fire chances and make Worcester a flamethrower.
I did ryujo with 2 broadsides, 8 citadels 4 per and the cv went down from full health to sunk with mine. best to date for big damage with her. but then I'm a pc wows player and my cola is tier 6
Pensacola is an enjoyable ship to play but even tho i enjoy playing her, Aoba does everything Pensacola does but better AND more. Aoba has ijn heavy cruiser HE, 10km torps, really good rudder shift and 210mm cannons, and reloads faster with better 180° time. Aoba can engage and fight anything out there, pensa? Sheesh pray you domt have a bb looking at you.
@@DerkaGames yeah but the in the case of pensa, the improved AP angles work for you and you enemy as well kek like they have an improved chance of ap penning you on a lot of angles :v
Personally her AP shells work so well I prefer to guarantee more citadels. von Essen, and Yamamoto work well for that. But after getting really lucky, my commander of choice is AL Montpellier. Take that fantastic AA and put it on the pedestal it deserves. Especially when the tier is rife with CVs
r these captains utterly useless without making them gold? battleships r no fun unlike what i see on videos...all BB shots r worse than a german BB, and hitting citadels is a pipe dream...but enemies can one shot me even when angling, but i get a bounce on a fking broadside...
Great game, one of the best i've seen in Pepsi-Cola, you literally did everything right and the red team can thank Normandie for throwing like that, though its a tier 5 game, maybe its his first ship at this tier ? I tend to not cry over people doing dumb things until tier 6 As for Pepsi i personaly didn't had a problem with this ship, though i was already ""skilled"" at the time, the AP just slaps and at tier 5 peoples tends to not be really good, turret traverse is what stoped me from liking the ship though, much like Myoko
Yeah being low tier, and playing with the blueberries and noobs might be one of its saving graces lol. Although I have used triple pensacola at Tier 5 3v3 arena and it slaps hard. Even against good players
