It's common knowledge at this point that Gaetz and his fellow Republicans ask these questions because they trust Fox news to only show them asking the "tough" questions, so they look strong to their base. The answers are ever shown on reputable channels and shows. Sadly, the people who actually need to see how out of their depth Gaetz and other GOP extremists are will never see this coverage.

Gaetz should educate himself before making a fool of himself. The AZOV Battalion is a normal, and was that already in 2018, battalion, fully integrated within the Ukrainian forces. There are no more ultra right wing combatants than in any other force in the world. In fact there's a higher likelyhood that the US has far more. Agreed. As I recall, they did have a number of skinhead types in that group, but it was like 100 out of a thousand, in like 2015. It wasn't a govt army battalion so it's not like the Ukrainian govt was then Nazis. Pretty soon after all that blew up in the media the group kicked some people out/some left etc and then it was folded into the actual army. I've always been of the opinion that when you are fighting a war against insurrectionists supported by a large and aggressive neighboring country, people show up to fight. Some of them will be "not nice people" and you would otherwise disagree with them, but they do put rounds down range and when you effectively don't have a full military (2014), you don't tend to kick them to the curb. I guarantee %100 that at least a few Russian soldiers are/were white supremacists that liked to beat up people from the Caucuses when they dared go near Moscow. Russia has it's neo-nazi one-handed salute crackheads too.
