Pentatonix ~ ALL "Sing-Off" Performances (Part 1/3) 

The reason that i love this show is that you can look in the background at the other groups and they are cheering as hard as the audience. It just seems like such a community of friends rather than a competition

I love how PTX is the smallest group but they fill the stage the best.

I'll always think that the Video Killed the Radio Star performance is where everything "clicked" for them. They were struggling a bit to find their true identity and once they found it they never looked back! Incredible performances week after week and the fact that the group is still together (minus Avi :c) is a testament to how talented they are

so when i watch this and then realise that thEY ARE NOMINATED FOR A GRAMMY AND I HEARD "THATS CHRISTMAS TO ME" ON THE RADIO I SCREAMED.

I love watching them evolve as a group as they do these. At the beginning it was so centered around Scott being the lead singer, and Kirstie being the female back-up. They hadn't developed as a friend group yet, hadn't found their group style, just as a music group. They didn't have their individual relationships, Mitch and Scott didn't have their amazing inseperable friendship, Mitch wasn't quite so Mitch-y, and they still try to have matching outfits. You can watch their group dynamic change throughout their career, as friends, musicians, and just people in general, all of them discover themselves so much throughout the career of Pentatonix, and I'm sure they will continue to grow, and I'm so proud of them and so happy I get to watch them evolve.

I think what sets them apart is that not only do they have good harmonies and leads, but those beats are so sick. They really make it go from good to amazing!

Just so you know, at 1:06, Pentatonix produced 6 sounds at once because of Avi's overtone. It still amazes me every time I watch their first performance in Sing-Off.

Everyone is saying that their favorite song is Video Killed the Radio Star, and I agree completely, but Love Lock down is my all time favorite. I even downloaded the song. :)

Love Lockdown has got to be the best song they did while on that show. I get goosebumps every single time I hear it.

The judges knew they would win from the top, *almost* for sure. Besides the fact that they are just good as hell, they are completely innovative. No one has ever done what they did with A Capella, this electronic sound and everything. Plus, they are extremely commercial, and the judges, want it or not, have to take that in account, they got 5 different styles, looks, personalities, so anyone can identify with at least one. It's like they're a supergroup made to be awesome on purpose!

How could the judges not like their "Your Love Is My Drug"? It's one of my favorite performances of theirs.

Everyone is saying that video killed the radio star is their favorite ( and I completely agree with them, I mean, every song PTX does is ... well speechless ) but I have to say love lock down is my FAV. :)

in my opinion, Love Lockdown was the song that pretty much won the show for them... it was so intense, and really showed what they could do. That one, and Dog Days Are Over. The two best songs they did, definitely!

See the thing I really love about PTX is that, even right from the start they aren't only EXTRAORDINARILY talented, it's not just about the singing - they're so close that they move as one and are just the most perfect match ever for each other. Their entire performance is just the most feel good thing in the world :') So much love for you awesome guys xx

i dont know how people dont like the breakdown in your love is my drug. it is fantastic and brilliant. pentatonix is so talented!

It's impossible for me to be unhappy while listening to Pentatonix. No matter I'm going through, they make it infinitely better.

These are so fun to watch with 1.5 speed, especially Video Killed the Radio Star.

I just wanted to respond to an earlier comment left about their friendship and I'd just like to say that Mitch and Scott have been friends since they were in elementary school... So us they did have that inseparable friendship and Kirstie has been friends with them since they were in high school.

This post is 11 years after this video was posted and i can say their success skyrocketed them into places they never thought or dreamed of going. This is pure music. No instruments are needed to down out horrible voices. These are great voices in unison and tune with each other. keeping their harmony flowing smoothly. Time together has done them well.

Pentatonix will bring about world peace. :)

Some of the sounds are made on inhalations, but yeah ... he never stops. The amount of total body energy it takes to beatbox is amazingly higher than most people realize. To do it while also doing complex choreography, and to do it as well as he does... are both amazing. Imagine this world we live in where we can see this any time we want. 100 years ago, seeing a world class musician was the highlight of someone's life.

The Beginning of All Awesomeness..

The Number One thing that I loved about Video Killed the Radio Star, is that all the other groups looked like they were dancing and stuff to it. It's clear who the winners are. P.S.- I did vote for them, maxed it out too.

it may not be their most popular song they did but they showcased everything in that song perfectly. I remember listening to that and thats when i knew no one else had a chance. They were just too good.

This group is so great it brings me to tears. I have been listening to them for a couple years now from when I first saw them on this show, but I'm just now I'm starting to realize Avi's greatness. Not to take away from any single one of them...how great is it that they all met and made this wonderful music?

Their cover of Your Love Is My Drug is still my favorite. You listen to it and you're just like "this is nice, but nothing special". And you start getting disappointed because you expected more of Pentatonix. But then motherfucking ACAPELLA DUBSTEP and everything is beautiful and nothing hurts.
