That's why I love PTX. They keep you on your toes. They are full of surprises and keeps my relationship with them spicy. 😆 Don't know what to expect , but I love that about them.
Pat: “ I have no idea what that was.” Me: That was PTX at their very best. In my opinion, in this one song, they showcased all of their individual talents as well as their combined group dynamics. Avi and Kevin holding the beat down and keepin’ the baseline rollin’. The Trio showin’ off their rappin’ skills as well as their ability to harmonize and bring the melody together. All five of them bringing a melody together with smooth well blended harmonies. Such incredible talent. I absolutely love this song. One of their best in my opinion.
What I love about this video is that each member gets a set that represents them really well, hence why Kevin is in a church and Avi in some beautiful nature spot. I don’t know this for sure but I think they actually got to design their own sets!

I remember reading somewhere - don't know how true it is - that each 'set' was representative of their niche in high school. Mitch was a little bit nerd/geek, Kirsty was high school musical/show choir, and Scott was one of the 'cool' kids. Take it for what it's worth! LOL!

Interesting side note: I just listened to an interview Avi's sister Esther gave. That woman's professional career is jaw dropping! We know her as PTX tour manager but she was and is infinitely more than that. I bring this up because I think she was the connection that got them to this location for the shoot. It is Mt. St. Antonio college. A Cappella Academy is located there as well and you often see the campers post shots of the gorgeous views.
Actually, they're pretty comfortable with hip hop. In the past, they've said rock and country were outside their wheelhouse but then they did Born To Be Wild in The Sing-Off and Bohemian Rhapsody, as well as won a Grammy for Best Country Group Performance with Dolly Parton with Jolene. They seem to be able to adapt to almost any style of music.

Check out Macklemore! You will get a kick out of the original. Thrift shop is another Macklemore they covered. I love the Macklemore video where he had his grandma out for the day.
View from here: THAT is called "ENTERTAINMENT." Sometimes a performance transcends genre and extends beyond showing any one specific talent. With PTX. that happens frequently.
I love this one so much :) the energy is off the scale and they all looked like they were having SUCH fun! I also love that they each were in areas that reflected where they come from - the original trio in a school setting, Kevin in church and Avi in the great outdoors - awesome :D

You will notice they had a different backdrop for each of their solo parts to match their personalities, church for Kevin, outdoors for Avi, school for Mitch etc. I loved Avi's bass in this one. You should also check out their behind the scenes while you are at it, I know you will enjoy watching it. G'day, Pat! This is such a high energy piece, perfect to kick off a Monday morning. I've heard Mitch rap before on their cover of Ariana Grande's "Problem" and he's (to my admittedly unschooled ears) great at it, but I was surprised at how good Scott and Kirstie were as well. Don't know why, though - I've come to believe that there's nothing these guys can't crush at (I want to hear Kevin doing the beats for an opera!). Best to the menagerie!

Sooo...I myself am from Seattle just like Macklemore. Now I have always really liked the original version of this track, but when I first heard PTX perform it, well let's just say my mind was blown into another realm of existence!! Pentaholic for life!! 😍😍

They have done a couple of Macklemore and Lewis songs (lookup Thrift Shop). I LOVE that and both Macklemore and Lewis (his parthners) creation and Pentatonix's rendition.
You should check out the original by Macklemore, it really shows you just how freaking talented they are, I like PTX's version better than than the original. See you at the concert next week!

Yes! Came to recommend Macklemore! Thrift Shop is a fun one. As mentioned, PTX did a cover but imo the original Macklemore version is untouchable (it’s got some adult language, just a heads up). Also, his “Same Love” is a more emotional song with a beautiful meaning

IMHO I think Kevin should've been the potatoes, and Avi the Meat =) He has a strange love for BBQ .. .and I believe Kevin just went Vegan ? Correct me if I'm wrong.. I think you should listen to the originals to the songs you are not familiar with just to see exactly how PTX make them their own. I happen to love the Macklemore original but this cover is off the hook.
This isn't my favorite of theirs; however, it Does showcase each of them in their favorite settings (I think). Kevin in a church, Avi in nature, etc. I also miss Meat and Potatoes. But, I'm getting to see Avi live on April 3rd, so I'm excited about that. This video had to take awhile to make and put together for sure, with all the different settings and such. TFS
