@@JacobRestituto Scott always cover the bass when the base sings the lead - something that a lot of reactors miss or assume is double tracked when it's not. Scott has a very large range. He used to perform a solo on tour to highlight his range - and because people just didn't believe it. Check out "I Should Tell Ya Momma On You - Scott Hoying (Red Cover)" It's an a ccapella cover wherein he jumps from Tenor to Bass and back again in rapaid succession repeatedly while also maintaining a complex rythmn on his chest with his hand. I think you'll enjoy it! Here's a link to make it easy ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Px2mE7yOTew.html
Her name is Kirstin, which is the name she officially uses in album credits etc, but she mostly goes by Kirstie. In their cover of Starships, she raps "my name is Kirstin but you can call me Kirstie". On her solo album she goes by Kirstin TM, with the TM in small print right after the "N", but it doesn't stand for "trademark". It's a clever play on her full name, Kirstin Taylor Maldonado. A lot of people mispronounce her name as "Keerstin" (and some women with that name pronounce it that way), but I heard her in an interview once say, "most people call me Kirstie, which rhymes with thirsty, and my real name is Kirstin, so you're thirstin' for Kirstin." I love that she has a good sense of humor about it. When asked about how people call her Kristin or Kristy, she said "they're the people that don't matter."
Scott asked if they could throw in the last key change, and Mitch was like, sure, why not, I can hit the stars with my voice! I just love his voice so much. This was so fantastic! Great reaction, I like how you can really appreciate all that goes behind the music.
Mitch is amazing in this one. I love that it all appears effortless to him. I can say that I have never seen the Lion King movies or stage show but I love this version of the song
Her actual name is Kirstin, but when PtX first started and she was younger, she liked being called Kirstie, so really you can use either name and us pentaholics will be fine with it
* I totally listen for all of Mitch's high notes. the "flute" is Mitch. The song is an amazing one, and Elton got the Oscar ! Gorgeous voices and a passionate song.
Three modulations! 3!!! Beautifully done. Love the movie themed outfits... Scott & Matt were Pumba & Timone; Kirstin & Kevin were Nala & Simba. Mitch was the ever colorful Zazu! Elton John wrote that song and 3 others for The Lion King.
It's hard to remember what I've heard you react to from Pentatonix. However, if you haven't already, please react to "Sing" which is an original of theirs and highly familiar because it was used by the NFL on Thursday Night Football. Also, please react to Todrick Hall's collaboration with Pentatonix for "The Wizard of Ahhhs." Thanks
You should check out the behind the scenes or making of this music video! They joke around about how they decided to have 3 key changes and things like that! It's quite fun 😊
Kirstie - like thirsty and analog to that Kirstin with just an n - perhaps today rather Kirstin, as she is a grown woman ;) and Kirstie feels more appropriate for her younger self ... THX for your reaction! Greetings from Germany
I think Kirstin did what a lot of young women do when moving from young adult to adult and decided to use her full name. I know at least one Chris who became Christine after college graduation.
You should check out Geoff Castellucci's newest cover Sixteen Tons. He's the bass singer for VoicePlay. I think you would really like his newest video. He uses some tools as instruments, and he does some crazy low notes.
Good news! It's both Kirstin and Kirstie. These days she seems to be going by Kirstin as formal designation for professional purposes but her friends often use Kirstie when referring to her. Just a guess but I think she would be cool with her fans using either name.
Listening to PTX I appreciate how clear they are on the words they sing. Ive learned many things about lyrics of familiar sounds that I could not tell the lyrics from the Original Performer.
I really liked getting to hear some of your music in the outro! I keep meaning to go listen, and now I have to quit being lazy...it sounded really good :-)
Fantastic reaction Jacob, thank you. It's great that you are backing up a few seconds to keep the flow of the songs. When you don't know what's coming it's hard to know the best place to pause. Love your reactions, keep em coming :)
I suspect that one needs to be familiar with Catholicism to fully understand the name of the song. I've been to Episcopal and Lutheran services, and neither used "ordinary time" as a designation for the mass. I 'd be willing to bet that that is absent from all Protestant denominations, although I might be wrong.
Always love your PTX reactions! Thanks. Question; what happened with the reaction of Kevin Olusola? I saw that one earlier today, but it seems to be gone...
Frequently listen to Reaction videos as I settle for sleep. Always enjoy all of your comments, while I often skip others. I’ve learned a lot from you. Have you reacted to the Pentatonix version of “O Come All Ye Faithful “? Totally unexpected but quite wonderful. Again, thank you.
Great reaction! This one is very grand haha. I hated the Elton version of the song when I was a kid because the lyrics were different from what was in the movie and kid me was mad about it lol
Pls. react to Geoff Castellucci cover of Sixteen tons.. It's a full bass cover, he's layered himself and it shows his range also! he's the bass singer of Voiceplay. It's amazing 😍 and low af!
I think the lyrics from the cartoon song and the pop release from Elton John were slightly different. It's been a long time since I've heard the cartoon version of the song, but I know I preferred that version of them But PTX is awesome as always. Thanks for continuing to do them!
Everyone seems to mess up the name. Birth name is Kirstie (rhymes with thirsty). But so many get it wrong she may have even had it legally changed to Kirstin which is what she seems to be commonly called. So you are in luck . . . She probably will answer to all.
I am a subscriber and really enjoy listening to your breakdown of songs and appreciate that you review so many of the Pentatonix videos. I have to say though that I cringe a little every time you stumble over Kirstin's name and I get distracted from the critique you are offering. You have however deepened my understanding of all the songs you review. Thanks.
🧡 Pentatonix. Bravo for this great rendition. "Vagabond" - very Elton John. As far as I'm concerned they can spend a lifetime putting their own spin on the classics and it could outshine the original.
please react to KATRINA VERLADE 1. Go To The Distance 2. Whitney Houston Medley 3. Burn (impersonation ver) 4. Never enough (impersonation ver) Thank u
