@@Deimos866 Hi, Maggie allready did a reaction to Falling in Reverse - Im not a vampire revamped, on one of her live streams. She might put it here on the RU-vid Chanel. Make sure to tune in tomorrow, for the next live stream on twitch. www.twitch.tv/maggiereneemusic
Scott actually shaved Mitch's head in a Superfruit video, and he kept it for a while! When this collaboration with Dolly was arranged, Pentatonix intended to be only the backing vocalists, but Dolly insisted that they take lead on one of the verses. There's a live version of this floating around with Pentatonix singing this with both Dolly AND Miley Cyrus.

It takes a lot of star quality for a 75 year old woman to not only pull off adorable but do so better than half the arrogant little starlets out there today. She's still beautiful and she has class that is just so rare these days. Any upcoming musician would do well to emulate this amazing woman. My father _almost_ got offered a position of Stella Parton's body guard. An acquaintance of my dad knew the Partons and told him that they'd heard of him and were considering him for the position but were thinking he might turn them down on account of his two toddler age children. My father told the guy that they assumed correctly and he wasn't willing to take a job that would have him traveling all the time. On how they knew who my father was, that's two fold. One, my dad qualified for the Olympics for Korean Karate (not taekwondo, taekwondo is a bit softer and less traditional than what he trained in. Also that term didn't exist yet). Sadly he qualified for the *1980 Moscow* Summer Olympics soooo.... (Google 'Moscow Boycott' if you don't know what I'm talking about). Anyway he ran a private martial arts school off and on and had even been offered a slot fighting in the then new UFC. He turned it down though. He was actually a fairly well known figure in the martial arts community at the time. Secondly, I was born in the kind of small town that a lot of famous people secretly have a house in. My dad accidentally cut Chuck Norris off on the freeway once. He got a dirty look but didn't spontaneously combust so Chuck must have been feeling merciful that day. lol.
Loved your reaction, but Kevin deserved a shout out for his incredible and endless background western beatbox which was integral to the overall performance.

I am absolutely convinced that Dolly gave Kirstie Vibrato lessons. Listen to Kirstie’s vibrato post 2016- Amazing Grace is a great example. Also, if I could meet anyone, dead or alive, it would be Dolly. ❤️ Sorry I missed the live. 👄
2017 was full of watershed events for PTX as a group, but especially for Kirstie. Her taking her performance level even higher seems to reflect more than maturation and practice - certainly greater self-confidence, some superb coaching, and more...
You mentioned Avi's bass several times. You should react to a couple of his solo works. "Change On The Rise", and "Otherside" are the ones that come to mind first.
Dolly was the first to record "I will always love you", before any one new who Whitney Houston was. Elvis Pressley's manager contacted her about Elvis doing a cover of it. In order for him to record it, she would have to sign over half the rights to it, and she refused. Linda Ronstadt did record a cover of it though. Whitney's cover made Dolly $10 Million in the 90's

Dolly has the natural country color in her voice that you just have to be born with. But do not strive to be something you are not, don't lose your classical edge, the Dolly doesn't have.
@@maggiereneemusic you reacted the same way I did. Mad, and couldn't understand why the families would bury them together. It is a beautiful song, but almost sounds like it is trying to excuse unexcusable behavior. And, who is the little girl?
A great reaction, Maggie! I think it's so sweet that you couldn't resist singing along. And your improvised harmony at the end was gorgeous. In 2016, Dolly turned 70. I hope that I can maintain the kind of energy she shows here when I'm getting that bit.... er.... wiser, too. Please react to Blackbriar - Arms of the Ocean (acoustic live).
voice play - my mother told me, I enjoy Pentatonix, but also Voiceplay. They also dress the part most of the time. I am sure you will also enjoy voice plays "my mother told me".
Speaking of hideaways.. Here is Avi at his house/cabin hidden deep in the forests and mountains of Tennessee. Just sitting on his bed with his view from his bedroom singing as only Avi can. There is a Studio version, but I love this one.

I've always admired Dolly and how she just seems to have this magical ability to rapidly snap from note to note, like someone striking keys on a piano. Also, yes. Dolly's voice is SO far forward it is somehow outside her mouth lol.
Fun fact, Dolly wrote "I will always love you" as a tribute to Porter Wagoner when she was leaving his show. She also performed it again, when she was in the movie "The best little whore house in Texas," to Burt Renolds. You should check out her "Mule Skinner Blues" (blue yodel No.8) that was performed while she was still on the Porter Wagoner show.
A real benefit of Dolly allowing Scott that brief lead is she contrived some unique background stuff that never appeared on earlier versions of this song.

The song was home free and Kenny Rogers children go where I send thee was very good, and it is a good compliment to this song because Kenny and Dolly done several hits together

Dolly is a legend, an icon, and always sounds (and looks) amazing in everything she does. She truly is one of a kind and a definite queen. And bald Mitch threw me off for a sec too lol.
Really enjoyed how you broke down her singing. "She colors every single individual word", her syncopation and more. You've given me another lens to view her amazing talent through. Thank you!
Thanks Maggie, this was amazing and an masterpiece with Dolly Parton and Pentatonix. A movie note: Dolly Parton did sing "I Will Always Love You" in the movie musical of The Best Little Whore in Texas in 1982 to Burt Reynolds.
Loved this song--they're so great with the incomparable Queen Dolly! I think Kevin gets overlooked a lot because he rarely sing, but he is the foundation of this song. He's like a human metronome--incredible!

There is a song named Diane from singer Cam. Basically an un-offical response from the other woman in Jolene. Dolly made a comment in an interview that she thought it was a good song as well :)
👄👄👄👄 Great reaction Maggie. Love hearing you be mash up Maggie with Jolene, My Hideaway, and (at other times) Arlington! See you tomorrow for fun at the live!
Have you heard the "coffee in bed" song written by Mitch and Scot? Check it out somehow. This is not a cover, but their own song, as far as I know. Pentatonix - Cofee in Bed.
Sweetie it's a southern thing. You are amazing and I love your voice and could get lost in you every day of my life but Dolly is unique in her style of southern vocal. I love you're vocals and wish I could get lost in you and be whisk away on those phantasmagoric vocals that only you can bring.
I heard that the story behind the title is that she (Dolly) had met a little girl and had loved her name. She told the girl that she would use it in a song.

The main difference between your voice and Dolly's is that she stays in her mask. She keeps that bright sound throughout regardless of which register she's in. You tend to go a bit further into your throat as you descend.
Hey Maggie, she is an original country gal. That is how we Southerners sound. Austin Brown does the same articulations. She did many songs with Kenny Rogers when I was a kid. They were life-long friends.
Maggie, I love the detail you put into reactions. When I was in a Bluegrass band we played Jolene and it was a crowd pleaser. Damn, Pentatonix really compliments Dolly. You'd think they've been a band for years. Thx Maggie.
Thank you for your comment. Did you like the new Pentatonix video reaction I recently posted? Will you be there for my 195K Subscriber Celebration Live Stream tomorrow?
Yep. Grammy material for sure. This was the first time Dolly won a Grammy for her iconic song. PTX and Dolly shared the Grammy for "best collaboration" I think.
I think the best way to sing a Dolly song is to not try to sound like her. Her voice is just natural, it’s a gift. The earliest recordings of I will always love you, she is just sitting there, hitting notes and making it seem so effortless. I suppose for her it is.
I know Dolly Parton since she and Kenny Rogers used to sing together, and I remember I loved that songs, and now Dolly in collaboration with PTX??!!! What an amazing mix!! So much talent in this reaction!!! Plus: Maggie sings 'I will always love you ' !! 😀😀😀❤❤❤👄👄💋💋
Huge Ms Parton fan ...... like your reaction, and I like your vocalizing during the song. Can see you're very talented ..... but the Dolly rules, no offense. This collab with Pentatonix is off the charts, just amazing ...... why we love music.
Best singing of "I will always love you" has to be how she sang it in the movie "Best Little Whore House in Texas" [if you have not seen it - you really should ... it'd would make a great opera... Jolene IS a real story - it's based on a true event ... she found out a teller at the bank was "friendly" with her husband while she was on tour - after a real fight which involved her beating the woman with her wig, she got her lasting revenge with this song.

At the awards ceremony where she won an award for I Will Always Love You, she said when she recorded the song she put a lot of money in the bank. When Whitney recorded the song she bought the bank! Such a great and humble sense of humor. What a woman!
My favorite part will probably go unnoticed by 95% of people or more. Dolly Dropped back and sang backing vocals on her own song. No hint of Diva B.S. I know people who play in local bands with to much EGO to do that. Just more reasons to ❤❤❤ Dolly!!!
I know it's quite a while ago that this was posted, but Dolly's voice has a more grittiness mixed in with her chest voice. Yours is clearer and straight from the chest with no grit at all. Dolly's voice is what most people expect from a female country singer, it's almost as if the country farming life has made the women harder, so you expect that gritty sound. Tammy Wynette and Patsy Cline both had that same gritty country sound.

Dolly is awesome, a real treasure. She wrote Jolene and I Will Always Love You on the same day. Jolene was actually based on an incident in her life. Dolly is also an extremely kindhearted person.
YOOO!!!! Please do a reaction to Nile - Sarcophagus!!! They’re in my top 3 favorite metal bands of all time. Incredible Egyptian Death Metal. Everything about this song and music video is incredible. All of their songs tell some kind of story about ancient Egypt.
