If you think Kevin's beatboxing is good, you need to check out his solo stuff. His cover of Down and The Sign of The Times two of my favorites and are amazing!!! He plays cello, beatboxes and sings. Kevin also gets to do his "Kevin's Fifth" while on tour with Pentatonix. Saw it a couple of weeks ago and it was freakin' amazing!!!

Another little detail if you pay attention: the video changes from black and white to color in the middle of the 1960's songs, around the time that television went from being black and white to being in color. They are perfectionists!

They have done a number of similar videos you will enjoy - 90's Dance Medley, Evolution of Michael Jackson, Evolution of Arianna Grande, - everything they do is amazing.

PTX has and always be the ultimate group. Each one is supremely talented and together they are magic! I'd like to ask you to react to Avi's solo music. He is so much more than a baseline. He has a large range that you didn't really see with the group. He composes, arranges, sings and does most of his own harmonies. He's also a truly beautiful human being. Change on the Rise was released first after leaving. So many to choose from. He deserves a chance and I hope you'll try. Thanks 😅

They are SO great! The transitions between songs is outstanding! Someone said in a comment they do this like 4 times and choose the best one to post. No breaks between snippets of songs! Just amazing! T ✌🏻

Just to clarify, since I'm pretty sure I was the first posting the info a while back... The information comes from the studio in a video compilation of interviews with people surrounding PTX that was done for the second convention... 2015/2016. It's somewhere on YT and their commentary is about halfway in. What they said was that they are one-takes and PTX is already so prepared when they showed up that they never needed more than 4ish tries with the last couple usually just them trying different things to see what they liked best. There is actually a behind the scenes where we see them mess up at least once. I forget which Evolution it was, but Kirstin held a note too long and they started over. And it's possible the 4-try doesn't hold true in those done after the interview... one of the later ones does have a line dubbed in for Matt that doesn't match up.

Hi. I think you will really enjoy their 90s dance medley and their evolution of Micheal Jackson. Both are very very good

More like nearly 1,000 years ago, they started off in the 11th century which was around the year 1000's AD. LOL! Great reaction! 👍👍

All of their 'evolution series' will knock your socks off. You're on a wild ride and of course, one has to say that they don't do covers, they do upgrades.

No wonder Kevin misspoke- his mouth must have been numb after that! He is one of a kind, for sure (as is this entire group). Definitely should check out 90’s Dance Medley, if you haven’t already. 😊

I love watching reactors seeing one of the Evolution videos and realize how difficult the whole process must be from the choices to the final product. It's amazing how polished and prepared they are that they actually do these in one take. There are a few more of these Evolution videos, Rihanna, Ariana Grande and Superfruit ( Scott and Mitch's massive side project that ran for 6 years) also has the Evolution of Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus.

This began in the 11th century, with a Gregorian chant. Since it is now the 21st century that means that they covered a thousand years of music in four minutes. Did you notice that the video changed from black and white to color in the middle of the 1960s, when color televisions first became common? You're absolutely right about Kevin; the man is incredible. Not only is he the best beatboxer I've ever encountered, he's a consummate all-around musician. He began piano lessons at age 4, cello at age 6, and alto saxophone at age 10. He performed at Carnegie Hall twice when he was a teenager, once on saxophone and once on cello. He's a world class cellist. He has perfect pitch. He has a pre-med degree from Yale and gave up a spot in Yale Medical School in order to join three teenagers and a bass so they could compete on a television show, and then he stuck with them after the recording company reneged on the contract they'd "won" on that show. He's fluent in five languages: English, German, French, Spanish, and Mandarin. He has a lovely tenor voice. He's one of the kindest people in the world. And when he laughs the whole planet seems a little bit brighter. Kevin is the member of Pentatonix I would most like to have a conversation with. You really should watch "The Kevin Show/Kevin's Fifth." This is a link to a live feed from a Pentatonix concert in Owensboro, Kentucky, Kevin's home town: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DbCasvcNx78.html

This was the first of the "Evolution of..." medleys, and it set the stage for how they perform them. They go through the entire medley several times (usually about 4 times), without stopping, without cutting, without editing, then pick the version they like best to publish. In chronological order, they are Music, Beyoncé, Michael Jackson, Rihanna, Ariana Grande. One of the nice things about all of the "Evolution of..." medley videos is that you can watch each multiple times, concentrating on a single person throughout the entire medley and see just what they're doing. I especially like watching the Trio (Mitch, Scott, Kirstin) switch back-and-forth from singing lead to singing harmony - literally in the same breath! If you're a fan of Kevin's beatboxing, then it's a great way to watch how he manages to change beats and rhythms from one song to the next. You mentioned the 90s - if you're a fan of 90s music, you need to watch their 90s Dance Medley - it'll get you moving!

I cannot wait for you to react to Imagine. You will get introduced into the wall of sound and a peak at Kevin’s vocal talent. Then check out a couple of Kevin’s solos. You’ll want to also check out their live popspring performance. The one with the best quality is not the full performance but it will introduce you to a few originals (one in which Kirstin leads). And then you’ll want to add to your must see (let’s be honest, they’re all must see) the live performance of Kevin’s Fifth. I’ll add links in the replies.

Pause and comment as often as you need to. That is what makes it a reaction after all. You should check out their Bohemian Rhapsody. It will blow your mind.

Thanks for the reaction and I enjoyed it greatly. As amazing as this is, the knockout to me is that it was done in 1 take. Start to finish, no breaks. It just twist your head into places its best not to describe.:)!

11th Century the began with Gregorian chants. I learned of Gregorian chants in music appreciation class in college IN 1990 ( Just realized how long ago that way haha) and recall telling my teenage self that I will NEVER HEAR THESE AGAIN ...EVER IN LIFE!!! And I thought I recognized them immediately and Kevin confirmed it during a little chat at one of their concerts. But Gregorian chants was church music way back when and i think it's the earliest record of composed music. Just a little useless trivia.
