Thank you for playing this song and your reaction was great. Also, thank you for not constantly stopping the video like alot of the reactors do. I just subscribed 👍👍👍
You've only just begun your Pentatonix journey. Pick a genre and PTX has covered it and so many times their covers are better than the originals. They've won 3 grammy awards - Daft Punk medley, Jolene-which they sing with Dolly Parton and Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies. All 3 of these are worth watching and reacting too. Some others - Hallelujah, Bohemian Rhapsody, Sound of Silence, Imagine, Shallow. But be careful because they are addictive, which is why PTX fans are called Pentaholics!
Before you race into the new year, having seen this I definitely think you'd enjoy the same song done by Voctave (with Mark Lowry the composer of the song). It's different and yet touching. A good listen, even if you don't film it for a reaction. Agree with suggestions below for "Havana," "Cheerleader," and "Hallelujah." If I had to pick one video that put them on the mainstream map, it'd either be "Hallelujah" or "Daft Punk." But if you like Queen, check out "Bohemian Rhapsody;" it'll blow your mind. If you like Pentatonix, these are all excellent covers, along with Say Something. I'd also suggest "Sing" for something lively and one of their originals (the NFL used it for a year). Another suggestion for Queen fans would be "Queen in 5 Minutes" by VoicePlay, which is also acapella. Loving your reactions. Happy New Year!
You kids are adorable. Trivia: This wonderful rendition was done in a cave underneath L.A. near Pasadena. Many things for TV and movies are filmed there. Good job. God bless
They also sing in Japanese with one of the most famous female vocal groups in Japan. You might want to check it out, "Little Glee Monster feat. Pentatonix - Dear My Friend". The music video just came out last month (don't forget to turn on the subtitles).
Happy New Year, if you are going down this rabbit hole I'm going with you. I love Pentatonix and Home Free (among several others), some of us are Pentaholics and some are Home Fries, but some of us are Pentafriesl lol we're all good. OMG, your sound system is 😎.
Hi omg I've been watching your reactions to Filipino artists because I'm also a Filipino and I'm thankful for appreciating our talents and now pentatonix!! Keep reacting to pentatonix they are definitely worth it ♡ You guys should try their: Hallelujah 12 Days of Christmas Daft Punk Bohemian Rhapsody and a whole bunch of their 'evolution' for different artists
Hallelujah by PTX has over half a BILLION views. Amazing Grace is one of their most powerful song they have done. One of their originals is Sing, and it makes you want to get up and move. More Pentatonix please.
My Christmas was peaceful and calm, thank you for asking. Some holidays I cook and host for up to twenty people. This time it was three. Got a new book I've been thinking about. Lit a roaring fire in the fireplace. Poured a generous glass of wine. Put my feet up and read while dinner was cooking and Pentatonix was on the sound system. Just lovely. You need to hear Home Free sing "Auld Lang Sine" for the new year. You'll have a second favorite Au Capella group.
Hi I like your channel I been watching you for a while but never subscribe because I was waiting to see if you were one of stop and talk people that budge the hell out of me I only ( sub) to people who don’t do that thank you.🙏🙏
These guys are just awesome! You guys have seen something that is kinda rare.....Kevin doesn't often take leads in alot if their songs. Between beatboxing, percussion effects, and back-up harmonies, he stays pretty busy! Lol. But yall are 2 for 2. How about listening to "Daft Punk" by these guys. Won em a Grammy for it! Thanks!
Thanks for mentioning the cinematography -- did you notice the 4 times she is posed with the back light as a halo ? Perfect foreshadowing to match the lyrics
Your reaction was priceless! thank you. My Christmas was similar in that it was quiet. Did celebrate via zoom with family but looking forward to the day we can all be together and I can wrap my arms around them. Please watch the Hallelujah video and directly after the live version of Hallelujah from their Christmas special(with Avi Kaplan) so you can compare. and prepare to be blown away.
Just a bit of PTX trivia, Hallelujah has 1/2 a billion views, so you should react to it and make it 1/2 a billion and one! Collectively they have accumulated 4.5 billion you tube views along with 3 grammys. Not bad eh?
I read somewhere that the cave they were in was where Batman was filmed. Might I suggest you wear headphones, they add so much to the PTX experience.I am all in as I watch you jump in the rabbit hole.... Enjoy!
Giant ditto on wearing headphones; you don't realize what you're not hearing without them. From what I understand, the cave in this video is in Griffith Park. IMO that many projects have been filmed there over the years.
Mary did you know that your baby boy will become a god?? And definetely ou yourself will become : a GOD'S MOTHER. Or a MOTHER GOD. (Were those English???) (Or we're all dumb???)
This release broke a bunch of traditions including trending after Christmas and into March on the charts. One fact that caused some issues at the time and many discussions was that Avi Kaplan, bearded second singer with the long hair covered with a beanie is Jewish not Christian. aleteia.org/2015/03/23/when-christians-and-jews-make-sweet-music-together-literally/ "But that’s not the only kind of boundary being dissolved by the Pentatonix album… In a solo during the Mary song, Avi Kaplan, the band’s skilled baritone, voices the words “Mary, did you know that your baby boy would save our sons and daughters?” and “this child that you delivered will soon deliver you.” These articles of Christian faith are being earnestly intoned by Mr. Kaplan, who is Jewish-American. He’s sharing his own talents and gifts, to enhance the gifts of the season - literally embodying the fact that the hope and grace of the Christmas event transcend religious barriers. Talk about interfaith harmony. Avi Kaplan is in good company. The godfather of this kind of gracious, chart-topping interfaith gesture is Irving Berlin. Berlin, the proud American immigrant from a family of proud Russian Jews, famously composed and wrote White Christmas." Coincidentally Avi has stated that his family also came from Russia.
Third Anointed King of Israel, Son of King David, Solomon. The Quarry in King Solomon's Cave... A Capella is indeed, goose bumps... I do not know, but it felt like the Caves....
I suggest you react to Hallelujah, Imagine, Havana, Gold, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies. Then watch Kevin (beatboxer) in his version of Down (Marion Hill); he is tremendously talented all alone. Pentatonix is wonderful. Later videos you will see a different bass--Avi left and was replaced by Matt.
all I can say is...what ever you've done...or are doing...keep it up! the song is beautful in it's self...but the lady sitting beside you is the prize!!! T
New subscriber here. As others have mentioned, you really need to use headphones for the full PTX experience. I only thought they were incredible until I put headphones on. And I second the requests for you to review their official Hallelujah video. Views are approaching 600 MILLION.
I'm seriously glad you reacted to this song. My Christmas I have spent with closest family too. Despite that I enjoyed it very much! Speaking of it I wish lots of good health, luck, prosperity and Blessing of God in every aspect of life for You Albert, Cynthia and your family in this New Year 2021! :) One more thing: there is another band that made a cover of Mary Did You Know? and they were heavily inspired by Pentatonix. Halocene is the best band that I discovered in 2020! Please react to any of their cover, that you want. :D
Mark Lowery (co-wrote)Mary Did You Know. He joins "Voctave", the most amazing a capella choir I've ever heard, and sings his own words better than anyone else I've ever heard. Everyone I know who has heard this version gets goose bumps and chills at the crescendo in the middle: Mary, Did You Know - Voctave feat. Mark Lowry The official video is at: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uaRpeMT1tjQ.html
You’re right Cynthia, it is the best! I love these guys, been listening to them for years! Thanks for the review. Now run along and listen to their other ones! ❤️
Loving you reactions. I highly suggest headphones to get the full experience. You will hear the harmonies and beatboxing better but mostly the bass, Avi from 2011 to late 2017* and now Matt, will come out strong and beautiful. * to make it clear, their original bass singer Avi Kaplan (gentleman with long hair and a beanie on in this video) left the group in September 2017 for personal reasons. Matt Sallee joined later on that year.
Happy New Year!! Great reaction!! During these awful times I often find myself needing to listen to something soothing or happy to help me through the day. I have a clip on my "easy listening" playlist I think you would enjoy. It's a "NICOTINE" cover by ZeePruk and it's all about being there for someone whether they know it or not. Zee Pruk Panich is a well known Thai actor (co-winner of Best Shipper and Most Perfect Body at the Thailand 2020 ZOOM DARA Awards recently and main male lead in "Why RU, The Series"), model, singer, and TV host (Domundi TV) with a sizable fan base in Asia and a large following on Instagram and Twitter. His voice is like velvet as is his sweet disposition. (Having a killer smile doesn't hurt either, LOL.) The lyrics, translated by one of his fans, are in the "Comments" section of the clip. I would really appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to review and enjoy this really simply performed sweet song. Thank you for letting me post this request. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nXIDuBGVUVc.html
Pleeeease react to HALLELUJAH (Leonard Cohen cover) It is truly amazing (any time of year!!) Please listen with headphones.. you are missing a lot of the depth without them... at least quality ear buds... Note.. you can listen to the official, OR from their Christmas Special live.. either one is just as impressive!
If you watch more Pentatonix (PTX) videos, you will see one member change. Their original bass Avi retired from the band in 2017 and has been replaced by Matt. That is the only member change in the history of PTX.
It is hard to believe sometimes that there isn't one instrument involved... until you see a video of them singing live. Man they sound exactly the same as on their production videos. Something to be aware of though is that Avi Kaplan, their original Bass singer, had to take a step back so Matt is the guy they brought in after Avi. If you want to have a sort of "Full Emersion" video featuring him, he does the primary role for the whole video of You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6KdLcd-sUQA.html
Happy New Year! I second the vote for the Voctave (another acapella group) performance of Mary, Did You Know?, featuring Mark Lowry. As previously mentioned, Mark Lowry, a member of the Gaither Vocal Band (a Southern Gospel Group), wrote the lyrics. You may still prefer the Pentatonix version, but I believe the songwriter usually provides the best interpretation of his own song. Personally, I even prefer the more intimate version that Mark did with Buddy Greene, who wrote the melody.
