I expected Scott to sing the lower lead, but I wasn't expecting the traditionally female lead to be sung by Mitch, even though I know damn well he is capable. This outdoes the original version with Andrea Bocelli/Celine Dion's version both for production (to be fair, they simply stood and sang) but also for vocals. Five people making as much sound as the orchestra and the singers, but also telling the story. Far more inspiring. I love Andrea Bocelli and have for years, but this version upgraded from the original. Scott is singing in Italian and Mitch is actually translating again like the original. And don’t forget they will do this live on tour. One thing especially good about PTX is they never record anything they can’t do live. This was the first song released on their newest album "Evergreen" for the Christmas tour 2021. This is not really a Christmas song but PTX made it work as one with the set.

The original duet version sung by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli first appeared on Celine's 1998 Christmas album, 'These Are Special Times'. It was also released as a 1999 single and as part of Bocelli's 1999 album 'Sogno'. The song was written for the 1998 animated musical film Quest For Camelot as a solo piece. Dion performed it on the soundtrack as the singing voice of one of the main characters. The soundtrack also included a solo Italian version sung by Bocelli - not sure why since Bocelli was not in the voice cast and there were no Italian characters. "The Prayer" has been covered many times as both solo and duet in the last 23 years. The most famous renditions are the Dion/Bocelli performance and a live version in 2008 by Dion and Josh Groban.

Maybe it's just me... I could hear you fine, but the volume on the PTX video seemed too quiet... Just my 2¢... Subbed anyway and looking forward to working my way through your PTX playlist! 🙂

Just a suggestion...please turn up the sound on the video. When I turn up the volume to hear the song and you speak my eardrums get blown out. I had to listen with the volume so low I could barely hear the the song. ( listen back and you'll hear yourself breathing and moaning. LOL) Great reaction!!! This is my favorite one by them. I enjoyed your reaction, but LOL, Zach, why are we watching the commercial? You reminded me of Sara Bareilles, one of the judges on The Sing-Off, the show where PTX made their debut: "When I get really exciting, I bust out a swear word or two." She had a couple of happy swears for BabyTonics. All of them work constantly to improve their art, and it shows.
