I think in Broadway they wouldn´t acept countertenors (men that sing like girls), like Mitch, but they can do a Wicked Medley, he can be lead along with Kirstin.
I thought Mitch should have been on Broadway a long time ago, especially after seeing the Frozen medley and Defying Gravity. I wonder on whose part the hesitation was on. Mitch just killed it. And I just died when Kirstie said blonde in the song.
I agree with you, Jerod, I think this particular number in the show Monday night should have been totally a cappella. That is what Pentatonix is, an a cappella band, so their song in the program should’ve been totally with out other instruments because we all know they could’ve pulled it off. It would’ve sounded just as good. That being said, I thought they did a brilliant job. I was so proud of them and Kirstie and Mitch, with their little facial expressions at one another was a delight to watch. And the ending when Kirstie said “Boo!” and Mitch reacted with a squeak... I know it was scripted but I thought it was great! Well done PTX!
I was hoping somebody would react to this. I’ve watched it about 6 times and still got chills. Of course Mitch and Kirstie killed the leads and the harmonies and the blend was so good. I thought PTX were the best of the whole show. Not just saying that as a Pentaholic.
Lil Pip I've been looking to see if people have reacted to it too, I love this performance besides the music back round they didn't need. I was hoping people would react especially because Mitch and Kirstin were incredible and funny
Drieux Koeppel I know she did ❤️ that's why I said Mitch should be on Broadway and not both him and Kirstin because I knew Kirstin has already been on Broadway but she's really good and could do more shows if she wanted to. I really think Mitch should go a Broadway show as well though 🤗
I wanted to thank you for giving each member of the group their due. I love Matt being included in the praise for his talent as well as the others. I am enjoying the new things Pentatonix has been doing, and having Matt singing in his upper register for Sweater Weather amd harmonizing with Scott beautifully, then Mitch comes in and we have 3 of the guys singing as if they're a trio was such a great surprise! Now we have Matt blending with Scott in this piece! Heck.. they were working so well together they were even moving their left arms in unison on the word "loathing"! it was so cute! I loved Mitch and Kirstie in their parts! Mitch did such an amazing job acting, and singing... blending with Kirstie that it was as natural as breathing. I hope Broadway DID take notice of his gifts and skills! It was practically our Mitchie's Broadway Debut! 👏👏😊🎶❤️
The first time I came across this performance was a few hours ago, I love wicked and the songs but I never heard of this band before, and since hearing it earlier on I am now completely obsessed with this performance 🤗 what an absolute amazing band, they are amazing and it was such a fun performance
Yes! Matt DOES sound so similar to Scott! Oftentimes you mistake between the two when you hear a song that their both singing in for the first time! PLUS: I 100% agree with you about the band and Kevin! I feel sure that PTX can do a Broadway sound with just their voices (Making Christmas seemed Broadway to me)! Let them do what they do, because they do it So Well!!! Great Reaction. Thank you!
I was SO excited when I saw this pop up today! I have been obsessing over this performance since it aired! Great reaction! I 100% agree with everything you said!
This was my first time seeing it too, Jerod! I love your observations. I believe they are such characters in real life that Broadway is a natural fit. I also think this is one of the first musical accompaniments that didn't overwhelm their vocals. It was really well done (except for the drums, as you pointed out)
Look at my boo boos-l’m old enough to call them that-thank you for highlighting how great Matt is doing. I am being as patient as I can with some of the fans but I sometimes have to choose my words carefully. I am in love with him as I am the rest of the group-I think he is a joy. When you get to summer 2018 ptx experience you will see. Every time he was on screen I was thinking happy, happy, joy, joy. And he has a great voice!
Absolutely agree with you. I love Matt's voice too much, and yes...he brought again the joy, the happiness that the group had lost with Avi's departure.
Fantastic!! This was sooo goood! One of the most entertaining things I’ve seen them do, and that’s saying something, since they’re ALWAYS entertaining…it was FANTASTIC seeing/hearing Mitch and Kirstie nailing it. I’d give anything to see them on Broadway. I know Kirstie has been on Broadway, but Mitch could sell out crowds, he is such a natural with his stage presence, eye communication & his impeccable sense of comedic timing. And I haven’t even mentioned his stunning vocals. I just adore him, and I know I’m not the only one! Also wanted to applaud their vocal arrangement resulting in those phenomenal harmonies. Wow. I think I’m going to be watching this one over and over again. You guys outdid yourselves. Really!
Great reaction! I thought this was a master-class performance as well. I felt the drummer had a light touch and was actually very sensitive to Kevin's performance. The mixing engineer as well did an outstanding job of balancing the two and I could clearly hear Kevin's performance complementing and accenting what the drummer was doing.
As to Broadway. KIrsti DID appear on Broadway for 3 months in Kinky Boots, a musical (of course). She was majoring in musical theater when PTX was formed. Mitch was a HS senior at the beginning of Sing Off.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN 🎃 👻🕸 I have to admit, I was a bit bummed when you said you were going to watch it live because I wanted to see your reaction 😁 I’m so glad you did this, Jerod, and agree with everything you said 💯%. Matt killed it!! I loved hearing him sing in this musical genre! It’s totally his niche! I sure would’ve have liked to hear more of K.O. too! He was so good! And of course, the trio...broadway ready and on point!! This was fabulous and I can’t stop watching!! Thank you, Jerod👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Yeah, I agree, they didn't need the track. I wish they would have allowed them to do their thing! Maybe they did it keep mic balance for everyone without the changeup that has to happen for PTX. Mitch SOO needs to be on Broadway, he was born to do Broadway. -- headliner Mitch Grassi!!! This was awesome. My first time seeing it was on your reaction Jerod! That was great!
I'm NEVER First! (Watch - there will be another comment before me!) I didn't know they were involved but I did know this was happening. Wizard of Ahhhs was my introduction to them and to have them doing THIS now - I feel my life is complete! They did GREAT!!!!
@@JerodM I hit enter too fast too try to be first. You do know that Kirstie was on Broadway in Kinky Boots earlier this year, right? There are a few videos of her performing on press bits. Also, I was reading the comments in the Wicked performance and people mentioned that Mitch should be Angel in "Rent". He'd be PERFECT as Angel but I don't think I'd ever be the same after that - the FEELs...OYE!
Jerod, that was awesome!! I didn't get to see the show either, but I don't have television. My son and I are nerdy gamers, and never watched tv, so we mutually decided that anything we really want to see, we could watch on the interwebs. In any event, I agree with you completely that Broadway tunes are better with background music, but I also agree that the drums weren't necessary. Kevin is an insanely talented young man. I feel he could have covered the majority of the percussion on his own. I still never understand how he can do all those sounds together, but he's great!! Overall, the entire production was tremendous -- like Ben Folds and Shawn Stockman said in the sing-off, I can't do justice to their beauty with words. They are just the best!! And I think they would be great on Broadway too!! great work, Jerod!!
You know what I've been thinking? Mitch would be perfect as Frankie Valli in Jersey boys. When I saw it in London that's all I pictured while watching, Mitch even has the voice for it
That "added drum" is an insult to Kevin, & it happens constantly at music awards shows, live performances during guest appearances for events honoring someone/thing. Typically, they are hosted by TV Networks with the exception of talk shows. I makes me so mad. I think it would be nice if they could let Kevin sing harmonies, but if the show arranges the number they're to perform, it's out of their hands. That aside, The performance was great! Mitch and Kirstie and Scott too I'm sure, have been singing this song and acting 🎭 with it as well for years considering their Community Theatre and Choir activities! They all 3 are obsessed with many Broadway Musicals.. esp. "Wicked". And Superfruit has the musical skits, 2 ft. Kirstin Maldonado, on their channel to prove it! They did SO well! They're getting a lot of views on NBC's Channel for the show! Have you reacted to "Sweater Weather"? I wonder because it is so neathearing Matt start in his upper register, and Scott comes in and they sound amazing harmonizing together! When Mitch joins we have 3 males harmonizing without a female voice and they sound so good! It's a nice new skillset to add to their bag of tricks... as they did here! Did you notice Matt abd Scitt moving their right arms/hand in unison as they sang? 😂 It was cute! 💕 So glad you reacted to it! Happy Halloween!
Is this video still on RU-vid? I can't find it. I had the whole show on my DVR but lost it in a system upgrade. Now the only way I can watch this performance is in reaction videos. Thanks, Jarod, for being the reactor who let it play pretty much straight through. From now on, I'm watching this performance right here.
I like your reactions better than others. I’ve watched several of these but you’re the only one that stays quiet from the beginning of the video. Most others are still talking as Mitch begins Only time I’ve heard the very beginning of the performance. Thank you for your restraint.
Hey, obviously not about this video, but a Home Free song that you should check out, and maybe do a comparison with, is "Helplessly Hoping". I noticed you hadn't reacted to it yet, and I think you'll really like it. Also still think you'll love "Man of Constant Sorrow".
Yeah I could barely hear Matt's tone. It almost sounded like just Scott but that just attests to Matt being so good at blending and not needing to be a forefront man
This one sounds nothing like a pop song. They kept this one true to the musical. In all fairness, there are a lot of broadway shows that arrange and write songs to resemble other genre
