I shoot mostly landscapes. This is my second most used lens. Pentax made a series of 55mm lenses for this system, the last two versions being the best. This is the last version, identified by the lens data being imprinted on the front edge of the focus ring. It's image is not only excellent, but it is nearly uniform over the whole image, center to edge. It's predecessor (lens data on front element surround) is a hair sharper in the image center, but its performance falls off a bit (like most lenses) as you look at the edges. This one is often considered to be the best overall lens Pentax ever made of the 67. Paying $200 (US) for this lens is theft.
@@hellatightdude Probably my 90mm 2.8 (not the old LS model). Although I own some dozen lenses for the Pentax 67, I've never owned or had a use for the 105mm. To me, is just a lens which gets by in a variety of situations, but is the master of none. I do use the 135mm a lot for free-hand roaming to pick up detailed close-ups out of my usage subjects.
I was deciding between this and the 45mm, and ended up getting the 45mm cus I got a deal. I feel like 45mm is just a touch too wide for me so I reckon u made a good choice
I got this lens ‘new old stock’ for a around £200. They’re pretty cheap as they’re not as desirable as the other 67 lenses. I think it’s a great lens. I’m looking at the 30mm fish eye for my next purchase. Thanks for another great vid
hey thanks so much. yeah I'm going to keep my eye out for some more wide lenses for the pentax 67 system. but I was surprised with how affordable this lens was though it would be more desirable to people
Nice shots! I was impatient and bought the older f3.5 version that I still need to test out. I didn't realize how difficult it was to hunt down the original 100mm skylight uv filter lol.
Great vid! I'm heading to Colorado in a few weeks and trying to decide on a 45mm or a 55mm for my Pentax 67? I have the 90mm, 105mm, 150mm, and 200mm. Nothing wide!
Yeah haha it does feel different, but I got used to it pretty quick. I think it’s cause you hardly ever find yourself with a wide angle on medium format
Does anyone that sees this comment know anything about the 55mm f/3.5 for the pentax 67? I cant decided between that one and the 55mm F4 and cant find any reviews on the F/3.5 model.
thanks so much, I buy most of my film gear off eBay. mainly from sellers in Japan or Australia. and one of the camera shops near me in Perth has second hand stuff in and occasionally they get Pentax 67 gear.
