There is something magical about wide glass on a 67 camera. I use the Mamiya system, 50mm and 65mm for my wide options. Just waiting on a 37mm!!!! With a 55mm you are getting that wide angle goodness with 55mm optical distortion and separation. Like I say, magical.
Great vid! Just tried this lens out today for the first time and feel like it's a perfect compliment to something more narrow like the 105. Love your channel!
Love your video. Excellent review. I own one, it is a fantastic lens, razor sharp. The pictures are also fantastic for their age, wow. So you rated the film at ISO 16 (1stop), right? As for the camera, I own two 6x7 MLU. Though the metering is accurate, but I prefer using my Pentax V Spotmeter, that never failed me since 15 years now. Good job.
Glad you liked the video. I don't have a lens hood yet, and there was no flaring or ghosting from this first roll. Looking to pick up a lens hood soon though!
I’m subscribed 😀 your awesome. You’re making me want that Pentax 67. Got into photography in the film era so I’m getting the itch. I just got the Fuji gfx 50r and adapting all kinds of old glass. Man there there really is something to medium format. Have you tried digital medium format ? Anyhow love your content and all that enthusiasm ! Peace ✌️
Hi! And thanks for the sub. I took a few photos a couple years ago on a digital Pentax and it was amazing. Especially paired w the old glass. I’d definitely tell you to keep an eye out on some Pentax 67s bc I love the system.
I was wondering how she managed to over expose so many photos. Shooting long expired Ektar 25 at 2/3 stop below box speed would explain that. Waste of time and effort though. Otherwise, that last version of the 55mm 4.0 is a terrific lens. It is one of the best lenses available for the system as a whole. The prior version (Label ring on front surrounding the front element) is almost as good. Being a total nerd, I had to buy both and resolution test them. Add a 75mm 4.5 and a 100mm4.0. Skip the 105mm, hugely over-hyped, thus overpriced. Add one short telephoto of choice and call it good.
