That static means the sound card is in digital mode. You need to change the settings so it will go to analogue mode.

You should update the Bios of your P2B Mainboard. 1002 is very old. 1014-003 (2002/08/05) is the latest Beta Bios for the P2B. Your 1002 is from 1998, one of the first releases!

the static could be a problem with the driver or the sound card itself. I had that same issue on a gateway with windows 98. i threw in my other sb live from another pc and that one worked. but it was 4.1 and the one that hisses is 5.1. I guess its dead. gotta go on ebay and snatch a working 5.1 sb live.

damn, when i listen to you, i am sad, as i can understand after wathing few of your videos, i need to say, and i hope, it happened already, coz this video is 6 years old, that you really need to learn little bit mode about retro computing, that mistakes like bad cooler, e: drive for setup files of win installation, and already forgot, but in pentium 1 video you had also mistakes, it just hitting in an eyes... or ears... sorry, im verry happy, for content, but you really need to be better, so that you do not mislead people... EDIT: OMG how did you managed to kill a cd win win me installation, oh god, please no!!! EDIT 2: so how did you managed sound issue? 😁
