Since 1950, some 4,5 Million people have immigrated to Germany - most of them from Russia's ethnic German community. Hundreds of thousands of them settled here after German re-unification. But some chose to stay in Russia or ultimately returned there. During the Second World War, many ethnic Germans were forceably settled in the Siberian city of Omsk. We report on the everyday life of the few who remain there.

Is so beautifull in Siberia, there is space, forest, clean air, natural silence, good people, and they work slowly-no stress. In western europe there is no space, there is no forest, the air is poluted, all-all the time the sound of explosion´s motors, agresiv and stupid and squizofrenik "people", and the work is a hell: so inhumand, so streesing, one never feel peace, never.

You should read up on the subject. They were an agrarian society and were offered free land along the Volga river for farming. They weren't rejecting anything, they wanted to continue the life style they were familiar with. Many of them died of starvation trying to get settled there.

In the US, German is the number one ancestry from mass immigration in the 1800's. German is #1, Irish #2, and British #3. Almost as many German Americans living in America as there are in the country of Germany. Our ancestors assimilated and we don't speak the German language anymore, but we still have the genetics.

I am a Volga Deustch descendant in the U.S. I don't blame them for not leaving because they think Germany is their only option. In 1993, Germans were not enthusiastic about the German Russians coming to Germany. Even today Germany doesn't mention us and prefers we erase our culture and history. Germany would rather build mosques. If you are ethnic German and still live in Russia or Khazakstan, consider coming to North America (Canada or US) or South America (Argentina). Here we were able to fully integrate without having our culture erased.

I think that was an advertisement, maybe from Germany. In Europe, in most countries, they just consider the human body natural. You'll see nudity even on regular tv. They don;t have hangups about it. Even the kids grow up with it and never think much about it. They are more family-oriented than in north America. However, what you don't find is teen pregnancy and rape is almost unknown. It's just cultural differences. . Your values about religion and family oriented are not universally accepted but we respect your belief.

Nd has some Germans from Russia and California has some and I believe sw of Winnipeg Canada has some. I seen a few maps of where Germans from Russia immigrated. I can't remember where all but in North Dakota I think most a pre war immigrants. I think Germans in Russia had it good until ww2. If they have decent amount of freedom in Russia out in Siberia I understand why they wouldn't want to head to Germany to sit in a shit apartment on welfare.
@lindaadams8644
@lindaadams8644 8 лет назад
+moonspellsdumb The largest amount of Germans left Germany for Russia in about 1809. They went because of the promises made to them which were later reversed - the main reason they left to come to the U.S. It was after this that the Russians took EVERYTHING from the Germans, killed an immense number of them and banished the remainder to Siberia. This is greatly simplified, but it is a brief version.
