i think its that it looks like how ablesit/bigoted people depict us. its not the reality, but its a bit alarming cause its what those poeple SEE us as so depicting that caricature in a bad light isnt ableist in itself, just a wee bit alarming and something that you can learn from (my opinion)

i think its usually based on how they act, subtle body movements and how they dress. i wear merch all the time and even have a lanyard with fnaf plushies. a lot of people immediately notice that im autistic, or at the very least, different. so it can be obvious sometimes

@@EDingwall Thats probably not something that happens in real life [because oftentimes, the average joe/jane isn't as chronically online and actually has common sense], but people on the internet are so much more ruthless and mean spirited. I have seen many such cases of neurodivergent, queer and alt folks being depicted as these caricatures by people who hated them, or simply saw them as "cringe". Actually, I have seen them more often than I have seen postive representations growing up with access to the internet, so it seems reasonable to me that some have come up to the conclusion that these caricatures felt like they made fun of these particular groups. When you're used to them, you kinda automatically assume they were made in bad faith whenever something resembling it appears, even if it wasn't the intention

The reason they’re being brought up is because the original artist’s portrayal of the art kids is a caricature associated with those groups. Many right wing comics/shows that want to demean or stereotype queer and neurodivergent people portray them this way. Nobody said that those minorities “look like the drawings”, they said that these drawings are dupes of the same stereotypical depictions of us we’ve looked at for decades.

As an alt and possibly trans (I'm questioning for now), haven't watched the whole video but no matter how many times you explain autism is not a shape or form and anyone could have it, the internet is a big place unfortunately

A lot of people are way too self-centered, and defensive over themselves, that it’s hard for them to admit they’re wrong. This is especially common with influencers/content creators. I’m not accusing Misa of being a narcissist, narcissistic personality disorder is a real disorder that I cannot diagnose anyone with. I just feel like Misa can’t fully make it over their hubris on a deeper level to the point where their apology was good… but still off.

I just finished editing a pinned comment as i just found out. Though, even then, at the time of Zepy’s insinuations nobody knew of this. I still the people handled this poorly since this hadn’t come out at the time so it had no proof.

I think Zepy’s original wording could’ve been better as it sounded more like an insinuation she WAS transphobic and ableist. And at the time NOBODY knew of the slurs and current actions of Misa so just because things have been confirmed now, doesn’t make it any less irresponsible with the wording they had before. I *do* think it was a more minor mistake since it obviously wasn’t Zepy’s intent, but with a platform small actions can bring bigger impacts. Though I definitely feel people were going overboard with Zepy, acting like they were WAY more in the wrong when it was a simple wording mistake.

I just think it’s becoming harder to recognize harmful depictions and we are becoming too desensitized to them- it’s like harmful depictions of the past, we can see those are wrong but at the time people just took them in an used those stereotypical, harmful drawings as the standard for a specific minority group. When you see someone proclaiming that what they say might offend "The Tumblr people," " The Twitter people," "The women with blue hair and pronouns" or that their jokes might get them canceled or censored, you know EXACTLY what they're talking about. 2. The cartoons _are_ created from a biased viewpoint. The first thing I want to point out is "art school." Art schools are well known for having a lot of LGBTQ+, disabled, left-wing, and female students. Hence, being affiliated with the "woke". Although she _also_ attends art school, her statement suggests that she doesn't see herself as the rest, that she doesn't follow the ideology that the rest of the school do. That’s literally not what they meant. They looked like stereotypes/caricatures of queer and neurodivergent people. Caricatures are harmful BECAUSE they insinuate that queer people look a certain way. They don’t ACTUALLY look like that.

i think its was mainly the caption not the video that had people mad. and people on tiktok just find harassment as the only option so im not surprised. especially if they believed zepys caption to be fact when it was simply their interpretation (which they clarified in their apology)

No but there's more complimentary ways to draw them. There's intent behind her drawing of herself to make her look pretty, but if she'd drawn herself with exaggerated "ugly" features too, it would be a different story.

We don't know how everyone else featured in the shorts even looked. She could be overly exaggerating their features or just making up caricatures based on negative stereotypes. I get what you mean, but in the context of this situation, it doesn't apply well. Even the way she draws herself doesn't include the flaws in her irl face. Anyway yeah people should draw more unconventional faces more often.

I think people have a right to be upset, as they DO come off as caricatures, though I don’t think they should just accuse her of being things she isn’t (at least from their knowledge). I honestly think she’s just another person feeding into cringe culture intentional or not. But the important thing is she apologized and stated she will be more mindful which I’m happy for. it shows there are real people who look like this which is why making fun of features and calling people ugly isnt okay. it also proves how people WILL see themselves through a character meant to represent a group. (this is more generally but that why i included it)

Mostly cause one feeds into cringe culture and bullying (intentional or not), while the other made some accusations that can go horrible if massively believed. With platforms, you can create a bigger effect with your actions.
