I walked across Spain on the Camino de Santiago, but my Spanish was 4 sentences, and basically mimed myself across Spain there's not a great use for Spanish in Govan ,but I'm sure the locals in Spain appreciate the effort.
I live in little town in france, very similar ,food at market is great fresh local but pricey for me..and clothes same Chickens on tbe rotisseri start at €13.00..Still i enjoy them more than UK.The locals like here survived this long ,using alittle solar indvidually ok but resisdents do not want solarfarms or wind farms around them when the people get no benifit only big companys..
Is this on Wednesday? I like the Bodega Man but buy from him in Torrevieja’s Friday Market and that appears 3 euros too expensive for the chicken van. I understand that they want to take over a significant amount of local farm land to supply power to Torrevieja’s desalination plant as they are predicting that the demand on water will continue to rise with all the new developments in the area. I suspect that it ties in nicely with your recent video on the empty dams in the area. As an aside what a difference you have made to Delta Mike- well done
I looked it up. Looks like you're right about the objections to the PV facility - the plans are for a huge 200 hectare installation that would cost agriculture in the area around 4.5 million! So understandable that they're against it!
l have lived in various locations in Spain for 23 years...started out in Santa Pola...couple of moves...then moved inland to Almansa... damn cold winters!, Then Ayora...damn cold winters!! Now, back to the coastal area near Guardamar. If you wish to live in a predominantly warm climate choose somewhere on or near the Mediterranean coast...Costa Blanca has a very nice climate...Inland Spain has very high temperatures during the summer months but can have some really savage winters....( l believe its snowing in Albacete at this time of writing)..plus in Almansa's case very windy. Just count the number of wind Turbines, there are hundreds of them....the only saving grace was it was less humid!!..l realise this is weather based, however, if your a Brit wishing to move to a warmer climate this could be a deciding factor.
You'd imagine any solar farms would be better located away from population centres to avoid the NIMBYism. Great video as always, Barry (though how you got mistaken for a Welshman is beyond me 😂)
True, because there are many hours of daylight and large areas with constant wind. The idea is that in 20 years a large part of the electrical energy in Spain will be generated with renewable energy.
Barry, there's something wrong with the HLG HDR settings on your phone. The picture is too blown out and your skin looks tone like its being scanned for UV damage.
Interesting content sir,I always feel that older apartment blocks can look tired, isn’t it amazing that developers get round planning to build higher close to coast etc. Not sure why solar panels are opposed,Spain doesn’t exploit its solar energy, yet lacks water. In Andalucia solar panels are in many open fields but not homes,go figure🤔👍🏿
The planned solar plant would be five times the size of the village, and thus one of the largest in Europe. Plus the energy would be transported away, the village wouldn't get a single cent off their bill for the "privilege".
The so-called Spanish Levante, the Mediterranean coast from Valencia to Gibraltar, is very dry, but towards the interior or north, the climate changes and in fact, Spain is the second country with the most forests in Europe, behind Sweden, although it may seem strange. to a foreigner. The image we have of Spain is basically beaches and sun. But there are 4 climatic regions in the country, and there are very green areas full of vegetation, as well as deserts.
I have a non resident friend who installed 3 solar panels on his roof for 2.5k euros. He only gets paid 10 cents per Kw from a greedy Iberdrola for supplying them with his excess electric. Not much incentive there for the individual to bother with it. However it may be worth it for a full time resident with high usage.
