I know how she felt, my son went in for a surgery when he was little and they said they’d let him fall asleep before taking him off but they didn’t and he was crying for me and reaching out. I wanted to be mad that they didn’t do what they said but I had to be calm so as not to make him more upset.

Yes agreed all the way. when I was 4 I was attacked by my parent's friend's dog. I was bit by my right eye and the day after my neighbor accidentally kicked me in the face and broke the stitches and since they were broken they could not stitch it back up, but I would occasionally hate it. I would wonder if I would have been more pretty without it. But a couple years ago for picture day they photo chopped it out and I looked at it and started crying, saying this isn't me. Now I love my scar I think it makes me look bad ass.

I have a lot of scars from when I used to self harm and I cannot conceal them in any way and every time I meet someone new they ask about them and judge me based upon those thin lines covering my body. In a way they do remind me that I'm strong because I survived, but I want to put that stage of my life behind me and I can't because my scars are omnipresent in my everyday life

Caldo is traditionally served right away, it's extremely hot. It is served but not consumed right away. Most Latina moms serve it and leave it to cool in a bowl for the kids, once it cools off they call you to the table to eat the soup. Most likely she served it, didn't know he would go grab it and it was a horrible accident that I'm sure she will always feel guilty for. This has happened before in my extended family and with many friends.

Never heard tattoo artists deny that, a tattoo on a scar is generally more painful than on healthy skin, it can also be slightly more difficult to tattoo it, especially if it's a raised scar which will make it harder to get a very sharp tattoo, any skilled tattoo artist can, but scar tattoos can be a risk.

The only reason it's "not recommended" is solely bc there's less of a guarantee where the ink will go or how it will lay. I can be either more prone to blowing out OR not "taking" as well. So the lines and images could be more obscured or less exact. Which, a lot of people want. But, you can absolutely do it, many turn out GORGEOUS. But, you do need to go in realizing there's no way it will look "perfect" or identical to the healthy skin beside it, nor can the artist predict exactly how your scar will respond ahead of time. If you understand that, there's zero reason not to give it a go. I have a few that cross scar tissue and they look GREAT. Edit: Also, as for pain over scar tissue, I wouldn't say it's more painful at all. Often when skin is scarred, the nerves around it are damaged as well and have far less or no feeling. However, depending on the injury or why the scar is there, it COULD be more painful if the nerves are quiye damaged but still very much alive and firing. But more often than not, they are less painful. It's usually more about image integrity and the ink holding.

Van Y. Well with certain scars getting a tattoo over it can potenttially reopen the wound. My mother has a brain surgery scar from when she was 7 that if she picks too hard at will reopen. I have a stomach surgery scar and they said not to get a tattoo there.

no not really, not all wounds that heal are scars, a scar is left where a wound technically hasn't really healed fully and thick (connective i think) tissue develops :P

Such a great attitude, I love my scars too! I got mine from appendix surgery when I was 14, i'm 25 now and every time i see it it reminds me of how strong I was to get through it! Scars only improve a person if you ask me, nothing wrong with a good ol' battle wound!

Gigglypeach thank you, and I agree!! The way I see it our skin is a blank canvas. It's the only true permanent way to show how we've lived and the choices we've made. Scars offer a means for us to reflect on mistakes or struggles, a real symbol of strength! (Plus you can lie about them and think of an awesome story to tell people as to why you got them 😂)
