While lane splitting in California is legal, opening your car door in traffic lanes is not.

That concrete thing happens here in Canada too. Just a few years ago while working with a crew pouring a commercial sidewalk for us, we had numerous (non-stoned) idiots being surprised at finding themselves stepping in wet cement, but I call them idiots since they first had to scale a 4' tall barrier before they could even reach the wet cement and yet they were still surprised! 😲😫 The contractor was so pissed by how many times this happened during the job that they nearly quit the business right then! 😣😖😫

Splitting traffic on a motorcycle is legal in California as long as you are not travelling 10 mph faster than the flow of traffic.

a lot of places it is legal to weave through traffic on a bike. I would say its probably more illegal to just open your door in the middle of traffic. like i assume they were about to get out. the werent on the side of the road, or parked.

Yeah lane splitting in California is legal. I'm in California and when I'm sitting in my car in rush hour traffic, motorcycles rushing past me right next to my car always scares me.
