When I was a child I wanted a cat and one day a bedraggled calico kitten showed up at the back door. My father, who considered himself a cat hater, only relented because I was very ill at the time. Fast forward a couple of months and my father has my mother and me doing all his bidding because "I've got the cat on my lap and I don't want to disturb her." She lived to be a very spoiled 22.
My dad “didn’t like animals”, it took me ages to convince him to get a kitten. Few months of having him, my dad carries him around the garden on his shoulder and every afternoon they take a nap together. Cats are awesome!
My late husband was the king of cat haters! Until I took him to adopt one to keep him company at home during the day after he became disabled and in a wheelchair permanently. He then TOTALLY became a the best cat daddy there ever was! And he said to me, “ I just never realized just how bonded you can be… how much is just an “understanding “ of love you can have with them!” It is something so intimate , so personal at times that it can almost feel like ESP! I love my cats.. and to hear that from him meant the world to me! He bought his cat, “Fu Shen” the very best food, toys, water and a litter box that flushed away with the toilet hookup! He told me several times he had awakened in his recliner to find Fu Shen on his chest with his nose in his face… checking to make sure his breathing was okay… his love affair with cats began, and grew until he passed away in 2017…. At the time we had about 30 cats and kittens we fostered… the happiest I’ve ever seen him!
Not to mention he didn't realize just how CUTE they are!! Fostered...right...more like you made a half hearted attempt to find them a "forever home" and then was like aww, screw it, I'll just keep them for myself! That is often how "fostering" kitties goes, doesn't it? :D
U people are are crazy cat lovers so accept that all people are not cat lovers and don't dare any one to keep cat because of your Love for cats take people cats n keep them why 30 keep 100 and 1000
My husband has been suffering from anxiety ever since his heart surgery. He wanted a dog (he's a dog person), but there are a host of reasons why getting a dog wasn't feasible. I adopted a cat, and she is his soul mate. She hangs out with him all day, sleeps on a stool on his side of the bed at night and he hasn't had an anxiety attack in over a year.
I am a 51 year old tattooed, big biker looking dude and I have 7 precious kitties. They are my babies. I love coming home to them after a long day of work.
I was a dog guy for 40 years then my daughters wanted a kitten that grew into a cat. Then they sort of lost their attraction for it. After a couple years, me and the cat got very close. I owned the cat 16 years... She taught me all about being a cat.
My cat is a Minx, meaning she is a hunting cat, so nights are fun. She's thankfully getting nicer as she gets older. Her name is Luna! Luna has started to let me hold her more often, which I am thankful for. I am getting more cuddles!!
"They don't really love you." I would actually argue the opposite? As I often tell people, dogs will love you regardless of almost anything you do, but if you have a cat's love you know it's because you actually _earned_ it.
I know.. in a family or a relationship everyone one has to give there love. if you don't give love to a cat before. how will that make it want to love you
I have always thought I didnt like cats. I still say I'm not a cat person and yet I some how have acquired 4. 😂 I can tell my cats apart just by the way they sound coming down the stairs
I had all these rules for our kitten. She couldn’t be in our bed etc. The first night we put her in her bed and closed the door to the room. She meowed incessantly, so we opened the door, and I told my wife “she’s to small to jump on our bed,” she clawed her way into the bed and has slept with us for three years. There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for her.
The main problem is that people expect cats to act like dogs. But they are such different animals, they think and express love differently. Once you get to know more about how cats think, they are so much better and can really be appreciated :)
tip: if you get a new cat and it goes under the couch or instantly hides, it's completely natural for cats. Do not try to lure them out or watch them instead just let them come out themselves at their own time.
Yep. Trying to go after them stresses them out. Cats will come to you once they sense you're safe. People that are stressed out about them stress them out in turn. Once you're calm, they'll be calm and want to be with you.
Cats are very alert in New areas as they are small and have retained their instincts much better than dogs have. If you leave it alone for a while it will gradually understand theres nothing to fear and will eventually walk around freely.
Cats are prey animals as well as predators. Dogs aren’t prey. That means that cats are more cautious and careful than dogs. They start off by finding a safe place to go if something bad happens.
I’ve had my cat for 18 years. She is my everything. She’s an old baby and i don’t know how anyone could hate her. She cries all night due to dementia sometimes, but I’m glad I’m able to be there for her in this time of need. And I will be there with her until she passes on :)
People hate cats bc they think they should be cute and play around and blah blah blah blah BLAH. WELL that’s Truth love111 cats are calming instead of making u tired
My parents always hated cats until I finally convinced them to let me get one. Now my dad spoils Freya, bringing her toys & playing with her while my mum feeds her way too many treats, haha
Yeah... my partner begrudgingly agreed to let me get a cat (dog person, apparently), and it took all of three days before he was absolutely besotted with her. "Are you even watching the film, or are you just staring at the cat?" "SHE'S JUST SO ADORABLE I CAN'T LOOK AWAY"
This 😂 my partner was the same and then he moved in with my cat and I, now I catch him doing this constantly. Eventually I have to tell him to give my cat space from all the lovin 😂
Having a dog is like having a child that never grows up - you get love without work but keeping them alive and healthy is a lot of work. Having a cat is like having a roommate - taking care of them is not a lot of work but building a relationship with them takes effort. Personally I prefer cats. I find it more rewarding to know that a cat likes me for being kind to them and I appreciate that I can just hang out with my cats without them needing something from me all the time (except food).
Idk why cat owners try to prove the superiority of cats by bringing dogs down.If u want to clear misunderstandings abt cats, feel free to do it.Why drag dogs when u clearly don't know abt them at all?
@@riddhijadhav9467 as far as I know Dogs are dirty. I had a friend who had two dogs and her home stinked big time And dogs attack strangers without reason Too protective. I don't need to get protected in front of my mother or partner for God's sake And dogs also attack so many people every year fatally
I really hate how dog people insist cat's don't actually love you. Just because you never managed to win a cat's affection doesn't mean they aren't capable of love.
I was freezing cold once because our radiators broke. Before we could get them fixed, it was loads of blankets all round. Mine were thin. Our cat realised I was cold and snuggled up to me, it was just the best.
I know right? Whenever I ask my friend if they love cats, some of them do and still like dogs. But when I ask a dog lover if they also like cats they get mad. LITERALLY. They say that cats destroy everything and they never love you back and they always scratch you when they never even owned a cat before. Like, why?
Emily Thompson So are they doing it to be quirky or because they got scratched? You’re contradicting yourself. I personally dislike cats for neither of those reasons.
A cat loves you when they trust you. They don't automatically trust you but once they do. They REALLY love you. I wasn't a cat person until my first stray and I am so happy for that day otherwise I would have always just been a dog person. Now I am lucky to be both.
They don't love anyone at all FFS they literally use you for food and shelter they would happily go to anyone for the same reasons lol they genuinely don't love you at all , stop being so deluded, dogs are a man's best friend and will love unconditionally.
@@simonhughes6772 you are deluded for even saying that. Okay so a dog is capable of loving and a cat isn't. That is so ridiculous of you to say. When I sit down they come and sit next to me and purr. They have food in a bowl that's left out all day so I know they don't want food. When I move my cat to lay on her bed she gets right back up and comes back over to me. She wouldn't do that if she didn't care for me. When I am outside she follows me around and while I garden. She lays in the grass right next to me as I fix the flowers and follows me in when I finish she loves being around me.
The way I say it is "you aren't a cat person until a cat CHOOSES you?" Cats are way more like people than dogs are! There are a lot of people that you have to really work to become friends with and a lot of cats are that same way!
True! I got a puppy a few days ago and she’s made my whole house spell like pee and had teared up my couch (I’m not blaming her for that cuz she’s a dog I’m just saying)
nah ,i dunno about that....on our door also a lot of cats showed up,but they were just bored or wanted food. They had owners (our neighbours) and i would never keep a cat that shows up regulary. I mean its okey if you checked if they are missed by someone and cant find a owner. Imagine someone just keeps your cat, thats terrible.
@@missblueberry1033 When you walk the neighborhood with a sick/injured cat and keep getting every door closed in your face, then take the cat in and post it locally, pay the vet's bill, grow attached to it, keeping it is most certainly the right thing to do. When no one steps up and will admit to letting their pet out to get injured/sick or dumping it, it is pretty safe to say that you can keep that cat with no problem. I have never kept a cat that I didn't try to track down an owner. With that said, I currently have several who absolutely no one will claim. There are far more people tossing out cats that they don't care about (and who are too inconvenient) or dumping cats when they are hurt then you think.
@@missblueberry1033 -- I have always tried to make sure the cat was a feral or stray, and put up fliers and even get flea collars on which II write "Am I your cat? If so call ...." Not once has anyone responded. In my area cats are throw-away creatures, and I am quite familiar with the neighbor cats and the colony and community cats that are only looking for a hand-out and not looking for a forever home.
I’m a dog person but when I got my first cat, every time I had a panic attack or cried she would run to me and purr and force snuggle me. She snuggles aggressively until I’m laughing again. I think they do love. She’s such a therapy cat ❤️👑👑
Happened the same to me when I was little I had a cat who would always come to me when I was crying, I have been a cat lover ever since.. I miss him so much..
Wrong , I have had more than 6 cats, as soon as i got a dog, i became a dog person. They are way better and loving. I have never felt emotional towards an animal before except for my beautiful Belgian malinois. Cats on the other hand are just lazy and they like us doing everything for them, at the end of the day they don't care lol.
Cats are incredible. I got my Cat Jojo in November 1987 after my Mamma suddenly died, I looked for days found him in newspaper ad. When I got to his home the owner said he was going to Shelter because not nice. He came up to me knew how much pain I was in & just let me hold him crying screaming & Loved me. He saved my Life. All animals are gifts Dogs, cats, ect....
True! I have a British Longhair named Princess and when I first met her, I asked her if I could pick her up, she almost leaped into my arms. Cats know who to trust.
I love how they fell in love with the cats. She’s so right, “you don’t know you’re a cat person until you get a cat.” She’s so right. My boyfriend hated cats and wouldn’t let me get one and I said, “screw you, I’m getting one anyways.” Now he loves cats and whenever he meets someone and finds out they have a cat he says, “Oh! I have a cat too!!” And starts showing off ALL of his cat photos. He loves meeting other cat people
Most cats do have a poop-parasite that alters the mind of their victims: making them more docile (aka easier to catch). Toxoplasma gondii. So it could be that he used to hate cats, until the cats injected their brain-parasite into him, now he loves cats. (just kidding more or less, toxoplasma only makes mice and rats more docile, the effects on humans is minute).
The same thing happened to my best friend. She didn’t like cats a lot at first and we got into our first fight because of the cats vs dogs argument. Now she has a cat and loves both cats and dogs equally
"You're not a cat person until you get a cat.” Extremely true!!! I don't have a cat YET but when my sister and brother got cats, I've loved them ever since!! I literally used to DESPISE cats even though I never interacted with them. Hope that people give cats more chances because they're amazing ❤
My dad: I hate cats Also my dad a few weeks after we got a cat: EVERYONE STAY AWAY FROM THAT PIECE OF STEAK I BOUGHT IT FOR RYAN ONLY (the name of our cat)
篠崎千里 My mom’s friend used to hate cats. One day her daughter brought a cat to the house but she was scared and hated the cat. One month later or something, she started loving the cat more than her children
Just got my first cat as an adult and my fiance was so adamant that "this is your cat" And "I don't like cats" And "I don't want anything to do with him" It took him two weeks to go complete cat daddy.
Haha same thing happened with my husband and I at first and now I catch them cuddling all the time and he refers to Lewis (cats name) as his "little buddy" 😂 it's so cute.
I have 2 cats and my big bro always say that he hate cats in front of us but when we are not around he likes to pat them I pretended once that I was sleeping and saw him 😂
I became a cat lady at 44. I had no good experiences with cats and was scared of them because they didn't act like dogs. We decided we need a pandemic pet, but I wasn't sure I could live with the noise of a barking dog. My husband mentioned one day that there were hypoallergenic cats. It was like a ligh bulb turned on. I spent hours pouring over articles, books, videos, anything I could find to figure out the best breed for us. We have 2 wonderful Bengal cats now and I wish I'd done this earlier. I was always meant to have cats. Or maybe just my cats.
I always laugh when people say "I'm not a cat person." And then they end up with a cat and become obsessed with them! My dad HATED cats, hated them with a passion and claimed he was "allergic" to them. Our neighbors moved and abandoned their cat Belle, who migrated into my parents yard. I was surprised when my dad said we could feed her outside because he hated strays in his yard. This went on for about a year or two when finally, this past winter we got really bad snow storms, he let her inside (on his own mind you, no one asked him if she could come in.) And the two have been best friends ever since. He won't admit it but he loves that cat, I'll catch him talking to her or snuggling with her and when I make a comment about it he just says "The cat wants food... you should feed her." Lol, it's so funny.
Lots of Dads are tough on the outside but total softies on the inside, almost the exact same thing happened with our Tabitha. She was left by the neighbors, fed on our porch for awhile, got too cold/wet outside so she came in on a "temporary" basis, now almost 20 years later she's curled up nice and snug with my dad cooing to her like she's a baby. ❤😽
My dad hated cats and my mom surprised me with a kitten as a graduation present. My dad got super pissed and when he found out and I was crying and begging him to let me keep him. Now my whole family loves my cat and they understand why I love cats so much lol
Sounds to me like your Dad is just being kind. There is a difference between loving a cat and just putting up with it. I absolutely detest cats. But if I saw one starving or out in the cold I would let it stay on my enclosed porch for the night. But that’s not because I love them. That’s because I’m a human being. And he’s out come morning.
Cats don’t warm up to you straight away like dogs. It takes a lot of time and patience for them to start liking you. And when they do, its worth it. In a way I prefer cats over dogs.
Nasexsav Kifs Yeah cats are like humans but like some dogs need patients to get used to you because some animals have been abused by human I swear animal abusers are the devil himself!
I always hated cats but last year I found a stray kitten abandoned on the side of a road near my house and I couldn't bring myself to leave it there. Here we are a year later and I've got two cats now, both strays I took in. Can't imagine life w/o my cats now tbh 😂💛
Harieta Mitchell aww I love hearing things like this! Most cat haters would just walk away from the cat and ignore it and I heard of some doing worse than that, but there’s awesome people like you that still care and try to help it anyway! Thanks Harieta!
Harieta Mitchell I adopted a kitten back in August, who is 7 months now, and a month or two ago we got two foster kittens, and now we are adopting both of them. 😂😻
Honestly, I've always been a dog person. That is- until this summer when I got my cat xD She loves everyone in the house, she plays fetch and catch, and she's the sweetest little cuddle buddy ever- She's an awesome cat- I couldn't have ever asked for one better than her! Plus, she's very careful- if we put a toy on ourselves, normally she'd pounce, but she knows it would hurt us so she will sit and wait for it to go back on the floor xD She's the sweetest, and I've grown to love her so much even though it's only been eight months with her, and she's not even a year old yet. She really filled up my life, I can't imagine a single day without her- I judged cats too quickly until I got one- never pass up the chance for a cat- they'll really bring a whole new life of fun to you :)
Everyone's entitled to an opinion. But, if your opinion is based on misinformation or stereotypes instead of research and evidence, your justifications will be like Rome; Taking forever to build and crumbling in one day.
@Chad Mower ikr!!! we adopted a street cat when she was pregnant and after 2 weeks she finally let us pet her n she started loving me back.. i had literal tears of joy and happiness.. thats some different level of happy I cant even explain 😭😭😭😭
I feel this same way since I have owned a poodle and a chihuahua. They were SOOOOO not like their stereotypes! They WERE annoying to listen to when they barked at the door, but otherwise, not like what people think of. Also, pet rats. People can only think of the wild, disease-infested ones, not the ones that are actually bred to be pets. Such sweet babies!
Last year my family helped a stray cat, she’d walk into our house when the back door was open, her paw was injured. We’d feed her and eventually she let us pet her, much to our other cats disliking (they eventually got along) but my family love animals too much not to help. During the time of the cat becoming familiar with us we did our best to bandage her paw and we took pictures of her and went around our entire neighborhood to see if anyone recognized the cat in the picture but no one did so once she trusted us we took her to our local, trustworthy vets. She had no microchip and to the vet seemed somewhere between domestic and semi-feral because of her attitude and her fur which means she may have previously had an owner who didn’t intend on keeping or loving her. We left her with the vet for 48 hours, our vet bathed her, treated her paw better than we did, checked her for anything that could make our cat sick and gave her injections and flea treatment, he charged us half the normal price because we helped the cat and tried our best to help her paw. We adopted her formally and took her home when the vet called. We named her Luna because she had mysterious, moonlike eyes. The one thing the vet didn’t do was check if she was pregnant but that was because she looked too young to be carrying kittens. She was only 7-8 months old. Not long later her little tummy grew and at first we just thought we were feeding her well but her tummy kept growing, we’d find her sleeping in odd positions that she didn’t sleep in at the start and she wouldn’t be more than a foot away from me or my mum, she’d randomly meow (she was usually a silent cat). One day I was gently rubbing her stomach and felt movement and later invited my friend around who has a queen (a cat who’s had a litter of kittens in the past) and she checked out the cat, she said that cat was definitely pregnant and would probably start trying to nest soon. She gave me some advice which included checking with the vet so we took her to the vet and he confirmed what my friend had told me. One afternoon I couldn’t find Luna. I searched the entire house for her, eventually finding her in a laundry basket with a kittens little back paws sticking out underneath her tail, after a few minutes she started properly yowling in pain as she pushed. After two hours two kittens and a stillborn kitten lay in the laundry basket with her. She wouldn’t let me remove the stillborn kitten so I left her alone to lick it but the resuscitation tactics sadly didn’t work. One kitten was born with deformed legs and a jaw that wouldn’t close, 3 days later he sadly passed away. The one kitten, a little girl was perfectly healthy, a gorgeous gray/blue coloured fur once Luna had cleaned up. Luna mourned the two kittens by howling when she was alone and while we were in bed or out of the house, she was a good mother to the surviving kitten, one night when the kitten was 2 weeks old she fell off the small beanbag that Luna had carried her to but Luna was in her litter box upstairs and the kitten was wiggling around silently so I picked her up and checked her to make sure she wasn’t injured (I wouldn’t leave the room the kitten was in just in case something bad happened) and Luna came back in and bit my leg, I crouched down and showed her the kitten was safe, Luna started licking my hand and then the kittens head. I found the cat carrier, took the lid part and the little door off and placed the bean bag inside and put the little kitten on the beanbag, Luna joined her shortly afterwards, gently licking the kitten. Luna then glanced at me, for me it was a magical moment because for the first time I didn’t see her mysterious eyes, I saw trustful eyes. Luna trusted me which was a blessing. She let me handle the kitten to make sure she was alright, gently rub a finger over her head to pet her and examine her nails to make sure they weren’t broken because of the beanbags fabric. Once the kitten was old enough we started weaning her away from Luna’s company and milk and eventually I introduced the kitten to one of my other friends and she instantly fell in love and wanted to adopt this kitten however they already had a cat who was 8 years old and grumpy, also my friends father cat hated cats (tolerated the cat that lived with them) but my friend was old enough to make her own decisions and adopted the kitten. Not long later Luna sadly passed away, I was unaware because I was away on holiday. But her kitten was happily living with my friend. My friends father began to love the kitten, he’d watch her play and sleep with a smile. Their grumpy cat loved the kitten too, both my friends father and the cat had a new joy in life, this kitten also bought the family back together after some arguments. All I can say is thank you Luna for bringing this beautiful kitten into everyone’s life, she made a cat hater and a cat who hates other cats love her just by being herself and I know Luna would’ve been proud! 💕
same cats are so loveing and i dont now why people say they protend to love you if that they mabby even love you more than a dog when you pet a dog the dog gets enjoyment out of it cats feal nothing but they still let you pet them cos they love you
It seems like a hit or miss for me. I've had 4 cats in my life, 3 at one time, and the group of 3 were selfish and unloving. Not saying I would never get another cat but I turned out to be a dog person.
It might be a generalization, but I have met some cats who genuinely hated me and I did nothing to them. I remember my friend owned a cat who would hide under the couch I was sitting on and bite the back of my ankles and if I got careless and let my arm hang over the side of the couch, my fingers were getting viciously bitten. I hated that cat. But I have had a cat that just loved me instantly and I didn't have to do anything to get that love. Just from the moment he saw me and bopped his head against my shin, we were inseparable until he died to some dogs next door. So people who hate all cats just haven't met enough cats to know how awesome they can be.
Lol people hate cats for genuine reason, I want to like cats but I’m genuinely afraid of them for some reason, it makes my heart race and my palm sweaty
Cat Pillow i don’t hate cats perse, its just that cat owners let them run around outside day and night so although i didn’t choose to own a cat i now am obligated to have about six of them from the neighbours ,hunting after nesting birds, eating the baby hedgehogs in my garden etc. Thats what i hate. You want a pet. Fine. But keep them in your own yard don’t bother the neighbours with them.
I had a similar experience. I went with the stigma that cats are aloof and that they're not affectionate. Now, I've had a cat for 5 years who won't leave me alone! All Lil Fleasy wants is love and attention.
“They don’t really love you.” :( my cat literally jumps into my lap and purrs. She loves hugs and kisses and she so affectionate. Cats are capable of so much love!
True those idiots are so annoying I litterly once hat my kitten accidentally and fell on the floor crying and instead of attacking me it came on my lap and hugged me
My cats wait for me at the door when I come home from work. Just sitting there at the top of the stairs waiting for me to come in from the garage. 2 of the 3 follow me just about wherever I go in the house, including the bathroom, been a long time since I've had a private poo, haha. So when some people say cats aren't loyal, they've just never built and earned a bond and the love of a cat.
Milfuelle100 my cats run to the door when I get home. They want to follow me everywhere and lay on my lap. They are so affectionate! I think cats are extremely smart and have to bond a little first before they give you their trust. That’s why I love them and find them so smart. I am the same way as a human. I’m not just gonna run up to a stranger and love them without knowing them first. Cats are definitely smarter than dogs if we are taking about people reading and trust. Maybe when cats don’t like a person they just can already see that that person isn’t very nice or kind.
People don’t like cats because they have boundaries. You have to earn their love just like you do with a real person. Dogs are high maintenance and needy.
So true. When my cat gets needy he just wants to be around me. My old dog would want all the attention in the world. Which is fair but I don't want to deal with that.
True. And they vary. One cats boundaries are not the same as others. My present cat is pretty much like stuffed animal (with me, anyway). Snuggle and cuddle as much as I want, carry/hold however I want, pet wherever I do, he has no complaints and is a melting happy ball of purr.
@@1chienandalou yup! that’s adorable, and you’re right about the boundaries. I have two cats and one of them is like a big teddybear. My other cat though, he only wants affection when its on his term; doesn’t like being held, doesn’t like his back being pet etc.. so I respect that. If I do pick him up, or pet him too much, he’ll show a clear sign that he doesn’t want it. He’ll only get seriously violent if you keep following him around trying to touch him. He still always wants to play. He doesn’t avoid my presence, he’s not aloof. Its just called wanting personal space.
My two cats are our greatest blessing. The girl always sits on the body part that’s not well like oh my head is sore she will sit on my head on my pillow and then she grounds on earth to release it . Cats are absolutely healing and beautiful. Proud cat mummy here 🩷
Cats' strongest sense is smell (a nose, plus Jacobsen's organ) That you cannot domesticate them to do your job doesn't mean they cannot smell stuff miles away or see at night. Each is a lovely mammal in its own right. You otoh speak like a true farmer who couldn't care less if an animal is not particularly of use to you.
My mum was afraid of cats, thought they were sly, could be vicious, unpredictable and couldn't be loving. So I didn't tell her that I got us a cat I just brought it home, a week later the kitty was her baby, she's crazy at play time, she lives on my mum's lap and loves cuddles! 3 years later still the best decision I've ever made
I was going to ask generally if you/your family were Irish or Catholic? Then I saw your name, so potentially the former. I am half Irish, and I know my grandma and aunt both feel that way strongly about cats. All my life my mum herself was a cat lover. But I remember her saying it was something of a cultural thing. But I was young and cant remember what she said haha. (Mind my aunt is the eldest, in her 70s now, my grandmother would be about 100 now. I do know it was more a historical than present day thing) just curious if you know about that. Its mainly cause that description is so like what I remember my aunt telling me.
@@lsmithgoose I am Irish, a lot of the people in my family are wary or afraid of cats it seems to be a common thing in Ireland but I can't say if it's a cultural thing
@@niamhmcdermott7512 fair enough! :) it seemed to me to be kinda evoking of evil and the devil with that kinda language so was curious when I saw the same in your comment. My dad is English and I was raised here, and whilst I have found cat haters and apathetic to cat people, I've never really heard this particular comments. Absolutely anecdotal on my behalf but interesting. I am so glad your mum was converted though :D my two best friends over decades of knowing them have both, in the last year realised they adore cats. One of them got a pet cat of her own and realised how much they bring joy to you, the other housesat for a friend who had a cat, now she is sending me cat videos all day 😍
Cats are the people who are very hard to understand and you almost have to earn their love but once you have a special bond that cat will always be loyal
Dogs will automatically like you. With cats, you need to earn their love. It takes time for them to warm up, trust you enough and become affectionate and cuddly.
"They don't really love you." That is SO false every cat I've had greets me at the door everyday when I get home super happy to see me purring and just as excited as they could be. Also they follow me around sleep at my feet and just love to play. They make such good pets. So glad everyone changed what they thought by the end of the week.
I swear, my cat is literally insane for me. I rescued her as a skinny, flea-infested feral demon. I began taming her, but it was hard. She hid in a pile of leather in our barn for about 2 months and I thought she had died, lol. But, she eventually gave me a chance to pet her and things escalated quickly to say the least! Now when I get home and go to the barn, she squeals and run and leaps at me. She then claws at my shoulder and sits atop my head, grooming my hair and purring. Thanks if you read this to the end, it was long haha! But it shows how a feral cat can become the sweetest thing ever!
I think it really depends on the cat because mine hates me, he only comes to me when she wants something, I can't pet her without being hurt but she is not like that with anyone else, just me so??? I am the one who gave her a home and food and she's so done with me lmao
Exactly I was waiting for this comment It's just dog lovers who don't like cats bc they treat them like dogs and the cat gets scared or annoyed You just have to treat cats right I have a cat that is 16 and I'm 12 so it's older than me but through my whole life (my parents bought him before I was born) he has NEVER scratched me or hurt me EVER I luv him he is so furry and fat and also lazy I love him to bits I mean I like dogs too but cats will not jump on you or hurt you for no reason .I LOVE CATS.
Dogs are like kids and they’ll always need you, Cats are like adults and you have to win their love. P.S. I’m 110% a cat person with two cats that i absolutely love so much as they’re relatives ❤️
My cat is more needy than any dog I've ever had. Constantly meowing for me to do something for him, constantly meowing asking for pets and wanting me to move so he can sit in his favorite spot on the couch, always meowing at the door to me let outside on the balcony, running around like crazy getting into messes, meowing asking for food every time I open the fridge(canned cat food is in there). He literally just stands infront of me while I'm sitting and meows staring, waiting for me to get up and pet him or play with him. Lol so neeeeedy!! And he's 14 years old!
i wasn't a cat person or animals in general but when i had one, she healed me.. like i never expect myself to love her... she also taught me how to love animals.. i can't imagine myself not knowing my cat anymore..
Me too! It was my brother who initially begged to get a kitten, but it was me who bonded with the catto the most. He really helped me get through rough patches of life.
Cats are affectionate when they love you. The cat must chose you and when they adopt you it is for life. Cats are very smart and my cats know what words mean. My oldest kitty is twenty and she is now deaf, but we communicate with signs. Mildred is darling! Living with a cat might change your mind about not liking them.
So true! My new kitten chose me almost automatically! My mom hates the cat cus the kitten won't sleep with her. We just got her today and she will only go to me
People who “hate cats” just have no idea how to read cat body language. And one of them even says it “I have no idea how to take care of a cat” yea that’s why you got scratched
@@vegetaissuperiortogoku5471 yup, i agree. i worded the comment wrong. i’m referring to people who have only had one experience with cats, and judge the whole species based off it.
When my husband and I first got together, he told me that he was 100% a dog person. He never grew up as a family pet when he was little, either. I’ve grown up with both cats and dogs. I had two cats when we got together. Currently, we now have SEVEN cats.
I wish they were low maintenance!!! I live on the 48th floor of my building, and I have two kittens- one who loves to jump and play, while the other is really mellow. I named them chip and dale, but the problem is, they both hate eachother. And dale, the playful one, loves to jump, right? So she tries to jump out of the window. Just a couple of nights ago, she was getting ready to jump, but I caught her in time. They r not as low maintenance as people say!!!
PSA cats like wider bowls because it’s easier to eat and it keeps their face clean. Their whiskers hitting the sides of the bowl can really hurt and irritate them 🙂
You know what makes me angry is when people who don't like cats and don't understand them say that they don't love you. The funny thing is that I think cats treat humans like their equals and less like their Masters like with dogs.
Coastal Coyote That’s a bit rude I have 3 cats and they are better then dogs I mean it looks like you don’t even watch cat videos. Some cats protect you and dogs have none of that kind
"They tear everything up, they don't really love you.." I've seen more destruction of homes caused by untrained dogs, and of course cats love, it's just that people can't read the way they show their love.
Same could be said for some human partners. " THEY don't really love you ". 😁😁 . My husband wasn't a cat person when I met him, now he loves them, at one stage we ended up 5 cats. 4 Burmese and a Tortoiseshell. Over the years we have adopted numerous stray and old cats just to give them a loving home in their old age. Now we only have a ginger and white cat named Chilli-Pip and she adores my husband.
My roommate just got a kitten today and she immediately was purring and was cuddling up against her and also gently headbutted her. She couldn't stop meowing when my roommate left the room for a few minutes. Also, she went up to me and instantly snuggled next to my arm. If those aren't signs of love, I don't know what is.
It's true I used to hate cats but my boyfriend was a total cat person and then his roommates cat had kittens and bam.. now we own two kitties and i love both of them ridiculously so much
My husband was not a cat lover....until we adopted a rescue cat, our Sparky. By the end of one hour (seriously!) he was in love. She was his baby until she (and a Himalayan we got soon after) lived for 17 years. Now we have a very cute White Persian that needed a home. Her name is Squeek, she's a tiny little ball of fur...SO cute, until she eats. Then her face is very dirty so we give her face a wash. She doesn't seem to know where her mouth is!! She is very loved!
That's wonderful! Yet I couldn't help laughing at the last bit. I have a cat too, only that it came to us so we didn't adopt it. My mom used to hate cats, but now she likes them! His name is Crystal because we didn't know it was a boy, so...
my mom didn't believe that cats actually loved people until I got her to let me get a cat and now, she cuddles with him and loves him.. same with my other kitty
Nadz, now that I think about it I don’t like it either. I usually am not a fan of sappy statements. I kinda forgot I even made this comment, and I think I made it only with cats in mind
I am amazed how ignorant people are not even trying to understand how to interact with cats. They will reward you with amazing love if you put effort into understanding them. Few that do, end up loving them. quick tip - never use your hands to play, always have a cat toy.
I love cats and for some reason every person I've met that says they hate cats has interacted with a cat like one time. Once you get to know them they're amazing pets!
I think a HUGE part of it is that people just prefer different companionship, you know what I mean? Cats, dogs, lizards, birds, pigs, goats...You tend to get different types of love and interactions with those animals. People have different ways of connecting with others and our animals, like all relationships.
Okay, cats do really love you, you just have to earn their trust. And it depends on what cat you get; Some cats can be mean and terrible, and others can be sweet and loving.
+Zynab Abdelhameed Hamsters are evil, lol. If there's a mean pet.. it's a dwarf hamster. Not sure who thought keeping hamsters was a good idea. Cuteness only goes so far..
I never was a cat person until one of my in- laws' cats comforted me when my horse died. This huge old black and white boy slept on me and purred..and I melted. Proud cat mom of two for almost eight years now :)
Yep animals can sense emotion I remember one night I was balling my eyes out and my cat came out of nowhere and snuggled into me all night 😢😢 I love her so much
My dad "hated" cats for 62 years. When his most recent partner moved in with him her cat moved in to. That cat became his best friend, sadly she died last year and it acc bought him to tears even tho she'd been living with him for only 3 years (ive only seen my das cry 3 times) he buried her under her favourite tree and decorated her patch. He now wants to adopt another cat after years of being a dog person. "Your not a cat person until u get a cat" ❤❤
I hate it when people say that cats don't love you or you can't train them AT All . Because my cat is currently cuddling me right now and earlier I called her and she came straight to me
One of my cats, would choose me over food :) when I call his name while he is eating, he would straight come and touch my hands then go back to eating.. I didn't see more love than that in animal kingdom, for animals food is number one :) guess some animals are capable of loving us more than food :)
I dont like cats but my 5yr old wants a dog which we cant get because we are just not home enough to care for one and Im tempted to get a cat but theyre just soo..snobby...so If I ever do give in..I hope this saying is true
+Chgo Gal They're not snobby at all. They're just like people. Some of them are very social like dogs, but most of them respond to how you behave towards them. If they don't know you, they'll ignore you. But if you get to know and love them, they will love you back unconditionally. Plus cats are low maintenance (no need to bath them or walk them), and you don't have to pay attention to them all the time. Just a few moments of bonding a day is all you need (play time and feed time) and you let them do the rest (cuddle next to you, etc)
+Aes Sedai ya and also you don't need bath time cause when they lick them selves that means that they are taking a bath them selves but if they stay too long without bath time then you should totally bath them
Maisa Jabr Totally depends on the breed and if they're strictly indoors or not. Some breeds like the sphinx does need regular baths. And some like the abyssinian will volunteer for baths willingly lol (they love to swim). But my cat doesn't need one at all. She's strictly indoors and hasn't had a bath since we brought her home from the shelter 7 years ago and she's still fine, just needs occasional brushes :)
I adopted a cat because I was staying with my mom and her dog doesn't get along with other dogs. I had never had a cat, wasn't really fond of cats before. I didn't know what to expect and now he's my baby. He travels with me, he just melts my heart.
And don't "molest" cats as soon as they got to your home! You'd be confused and scared too if someone decided to put you on the cage and bring you to their home. You'd feel it's ridiculous for them to expect you to fit in the new place right away. Now put that pov to those cat's.
My kitty was labeled a "barn cat" by the shelter (because "she'll run away from you") and as a result she was there for two years....I've had her for a few months now, and shes not yet a lap cat, but she loves us! She just needed space and time to become comfortable!
THIS. I cat sit for my friends and I just leave their cat alone when he hides under the couch after they leave. He comes out to hang out with me usually by the evening.
When I got mine, I didn’t bring a cage. She sat on my shoulder like a parrot in the car. When she got home she took command of the place and ran all over it, especially up and down the stairs. She’s like a dog in the sense she follows me everywhere and greets me when I get home from work. I don’t trust anyone who doesn’t like cats...
ugh cats deserve more love. you can't hate a cat just because it scratched you once it really annoys me when people say they hate cats. Omg or because they tear everything up or 'don't actually love you' just stop. CATS ARE AWESOME and loving and caring and cute :( LOVE CATS PLEASE you can always train them. also if you never owned a cat and say you hate cats.. wtf is wrong with you. it's just like the quote 'don't judge a book by its cover'
No like everytime i try to pet a cat it would always run away and scratch me. Once a cat scratched me so bad that u could legit see my bones..but they actually dont really give u as much love and affection as a dog does.
All my life, been a dog guy. Currently living with my cat friend Feenix and my dogness is wearing off on him.... and his catness is wearing off on me. I now also love cats. Best cat. He's a good boy
It seems to be that cat lovers often embrace dogs also, but so many dog people seem to not even want to give cats a chance. So weird to me, how can you hate cats? Sure some cats aren’t too friendly but how can they look at their little faces and go ‘nah! I hate it!’
