This dood is uniting more people than the enemy can handle. Good reaction and we have more in common than they think. I am with all of you. If you need anything let me know.
Now that was a beautiful, accurate take on the song - but Id say all our countries that are in trouble because this is just as perfect for Canadians, people in the UK, France, Australia... we are all being taken over by the same corporations, WEF, and corrupt to their core governments. We've let it go to far and forgot all our history. *THIS IS THE SONG MEANT TO UNITE US*
The voice and MESSAGE for billions of people all around the globe I am a black man 45yrs married with 2 daughters and this song brought me to tears.. The song hits in the stomach like a train going nowhere I heard it should be used as an Anthem for the common HUMAN irrespective of colour, race, gender age EVERYBODY....... You climb higher Oliver the WORLD has your back Brother ❤2ALL StaySafe ✌👍🤜🏽
Rich men North of Richmond is Washington DC. High school dropout, lives in a camper, worked 12 hour shifts six days a week for years in factories in North Carolina and Virginia, and was about a month sober when he recorded this. The guy is legit
Washington DC is north of Richmond. He's referring to policians and how they want total control.😮💨 This guy deserves every bit of the millions of views he got on this video!👏👏👏
30 days ago this man was battling alcoholism. He went to his knees and prayed to God if he gave up alcohol would God guide his music writing and 30 days later, here we are! We Virginians are sooo very proud of Oliver
@sharonlahaye5803 sounds like you're one of the rich men north of Richmond. This isn't the comments section you're looking for. Virginia loves this song, the polls can't lie and the majority speaks for us all.
He made me feel less embarrassed about not having a HS Diploma and only a GED. Chris is his real name. Oliver Anthony is his Grandfathers name and the name is a tribute to him and his Appalachian Mountain roots. He also lives in a camper on his own property that he is still buying, where the video is shot. Everything in the song is true. Not just a bunch of lyrics with a catchy tune. I am glad yall liked this song as much as we do.
I had a coworker that dropped out 10th grade, no GED. I asked him something along the lines of "[has he] experienced troubles with job interviews and applications?" And he said no, he just lies and puts yes for HS Diploma from the high-school he dropped out of and nobody ever asks questions. I thought that was funny. Pretty smart guy, with a highly technical skill set from his career. You'd never guess he dropped out of highschool.
Folks no matter color, religion, social status, or political party this song is a rally for us to unite and stop letting the scumbag politicians keep us divided and poor.
They have been dividing groups against each other when all the time we didn't realize there is more of us than them! Stop listening to the Media, politicians, and sports and music artists who think they are god's. We are all on the same side!
North of Richmond = Washington D.C. He's singing in the style of Appalachian Folk Music. Sort of a modern day Woody Guthrie from the 1930s Depression Days. Loved your reaction, just luckily happened to come across your post. Love your take on his vocals and sound, you are NOT alone; the World has found Oliver's tune impactful as well. The main thing I have found from watching reviews is no matter who WE are or where WE are from, this tune strikes a cord with everyone. And the great thing about that is WE all find a different meaning to each one of US = however, we all come to the same conclusion, things can NOT stay the way they are! Watch is follow posting video "Moving Forward"
North of Richmond is Washington DC. I loved both of y'all's reaction. This song hits hard. He said he was having bad depression and was smoking and drinking too much and prayed to god to guide him or something like that and 30 day's later he posted this song. It's amazing. Then he was offered 8 million dollars to sign a contract to some music company and he turned them down. He said he didn't make this song to be famous or rich. He's amazing
I'm a 62 year old white man and people should see the system we have wants to divide us - this song speaks from the heart. I truly believe he is blessed by God to send this message (and others) to us all. God uses His people like this. At a recent concert he read from Psalm 37. Read it and know His word is encouragement to His people. God speaks through Oliver's lyrics.
I feel like he won my vote and if he ran for President in 2024 as a 3rd party he'd mess around and end up w 100M votes...but honestly someone like him is what we need.
Once in a while a song is 'inspired'. This is one of those rare times. Millions upon millions upon millions of us feel what he says, deep in our souls. We're sickened at the welfare scammers, and that there are hungry people. We're disgusted at the powerful men that rape children and don't get called out and punished for it. We're in despair about our young men that come home from the military broken, and the kids that age out of the welfare program that have no where to go but the streets. Even our college educated have been suckered into useless degrees, can't get a job, and have given up trying. We've been downsized, made redundant, our jobs sent to cheap countries, or our employer got taxed out, and quit. I wish there was 10 verses to this song.
CMT pulled the “other” song because of politics, not because the SONG was racist. It wasn’t. And Hannah Montana filmed at that courthouse, Mario Lopez movie filed there and Hallmark Christmas movie filmed there…nobody complained at any of those times. I’m not a fan of Jason Aldean, but I DO live in a small town in The South and I have heard that statement “I wish somebody would try that here” a guzillion times. So much so that if I had a dime for every time I heard it, I would be RICH. That song wasn’t racist. This one isn’t either. Both are about the state of our country…not color….country.
Yes sir. The media and the Democrats must have us divided or Trump is going to come in and fix all of this bullshit like he started to do last time. He will put people in prison this time because EVERYONE knows the score now. Even if he is in jail he is going to win.
100% politically motivated. It was against the 2020 rioting, and pretty much every MSM channel supported or at least down-played the violence/looting/arson, so there was no way they were going to let that song pass without trying to knock it down. I don't like modern country, like even a little bit (love this tune, but this is folk/Americana, the genre's that country was inspired by, but an acoustic resonator guitar does not a country song make...) don't care for Jason Aldean or his music, but if people falsely cry racism where it doesn't exist, people aren't going to believe you when it actually happens. But the media doesn't care if they destroy this country; the only goal they seem to have is to keep normal people divided and fighting each other so the elites can rob us blind while we're distracted.
This is a American Folk song that is sung by a young man in his 30s who has been living off the grid because of his mental health issues and has turned that into a beautiful song. He is not a republican or a democrat but his lyrics are conservative. I truly believe that he has faith in his message and he wants people to feel his emotions and hope for the country to choose to be better.
Rich men north of Richmond are our politicians who have their thumbs on the scales. Oliver lives in the poorest county in Virginia but the rich men north of Richmond are politicians are trying to get rid of the middle class. Which means America falls. This song is for every color, culture, and people living in this new world.
You are absolutely correct. I totally missed it because he didn't mention VA even though I assumed it was VA, and then I figured he was just speaking of an area IN Richmond and immediately after we finished the vid I realized it was about D.C. and then came my Homer Simpson moment where I went "DOH" but it was too late and we don't do RE-reactions so yeah....I missed it... I'm human *shrug*.... BUT this song is OUTSTANDING!!!!!!! I hate that people are trying to make it conservative vs. liberal. He clearly made it about ALL politicians but some people see that it's hot and try to act like he's speaking for their political view. SMH...I guess they missed the point too....or are ignoring it trying to be right.
One of the things I love about Chris is that his musical name is Oliver Anthony Music which is about his grandfather. He is making music speaking about his life and the life of normal people that also is indicative of his grandfather and family.
This is life. A man, his guitar, his dogs with a mic on his undeveloped property talking out against the politicians in DC. Americana at its finest. Amazingly, this was a cry for something to be done heard around the world that EVERY person could understand and even felt about their own country. Read the comments on his channel.
I always like the comments for this video of "He doesn't look like a singer" that's something I miss from my youth. Singers and bands just look like everyday people.
It's crazy cause it's not just a thing that's going on in America also here in the UK and this relates to almost all of the people in these bigger countries that are supposedly rich and support there people
Latest statement by Oliver(Chris) Anthony--It's been difficult as I browse through the 50,000+ messages and emails I've received in the last week. The stories that have been shared paint a brutally honest picture. Suicide, addiction, unemployment, anxiety and depression, hopelessness and the list goes on. Im sitting in such a weird place in my life right now. I never wanted to be a full time musician, much less sit at the top of the iTunes charts. Draven from RadioWv and I filmed these tunes on my land with the hope that it may hit 300k views. I still don't quite believe what has went on since we uploaded that. It's just strange to me. People in the music industry give me blank stares when I brush off 8 million dollar offers. I don't want 6 tour buses, 15 tractor trailers and a jet. I don't want to play stadium shows, I don't want to be in the spotlight. I wrote the music I wrote because I was suffering with mental health and depression. These songs have connected with millions of people on such a deep level because they're being sung by someone feeling the words in the very moment they were being sung. No editing, no agent, no bullshit. Just some idiot and his guitar. The style of music that we should have never gotten away from in the first place. So that being said, I have never taken the time to tell you who I actually am. Here's a formal introduction: My legal name is Christopher Anthony Lunsford. My grandfather was Oliver Anthony, and "Oliver Anthony Music" is a dedication not only to him, but 1930's Appalachia where he was born and raised. Dirt floors, seven kids, hard times. At this point, I'll gladly go by Oliver because everyone knows me as such. But my friends and family still call me Chris. You can decide for yourself, either is fine. In 2010, I dropped out of high school at age 17. I have a GED from Spruce Pine, NC. I worked multiple plant jobs in Western NC, my last being at the paper mill in McDowell county. I worked 3rd shift, 6 days a week for $14.50 an hour in a living hell. In 2013, I had a bad fall at work and fractured my skull. It forced me to move back home to Virginia. Due to complications from the injury, it took me 6 months or so before I could work again. From 2014 until just a few days ago, I've worked outside sales in the industrial manufacturing world. My job has taken me all over Virginia and into the Carolinas, getting to know tens of thousands of other blue collar workers on job sites and in factories. Ive spent all day, everyday, for the last 10 years hearing the same story. People are SO damn tired of being neglected, divided and manipulated. In 2019, I paid $97,500 for the property and still owe about $60,000 on it. I am living in a 27' camper with a tarp on the roof that I got off of craigslist for $750. There's nothing special about me. I'm not a good musician, I'm not a very good person. I've spent the last 5 years struggling with mental health and using alcohol to drown it. I am sad to see the world in the state it's in, with everyone fighting with each other. I have spent many nights feeling hopeless, that the greatest country on Earth is quickly fading away. That being said, I HATE the way the Internet has divided all of us. The Internet is a parasite, that infects the minds of humans and has their way with them. Hours wasted, goals forgotten, loved ones sitting in houses with each other distracted all day by technology made by the hands of other poor souls in sweat shops in a foreign land. When is enough, enough? When are we going to fight for what is right again? MILLIONS have died protecting the liberties we have. Freedom of speech is such a precious gift. Never in world history has the world had the freedom it currently does. Don't let them take it away from you. Just like those once wandering in the desert, we have lost our way from God and have let false idols distract us and divide us. It's a damn shame.
This: "Just like those once wandering in the desert, we have lost our way from God and have let false idols distract us and divide us. It's a damn shame."
The Jason Aldean song was because he filmed at locations where lynchings took place. Did he mean it? No, but the Internet goes crazy. This on the other hand is an anthem for everyone. Glad you reacted to it ❤️
Nice job guys. I don't watch alot of reaction videos but as a 60 year old blue collar worker from the Ozark Mountains of Missouri this song really hits home for me. This is more than a song. Its an anthem for ALL OF US, WHITE, BLACK, YELLOW, BROWN whatever. We are all in the same boat. I like you guys. I love this song and its an anthem for all of us!! Im not even really religious but I'll say this.... GOD BLESS AMERICA because we need it right now!
I'm a proud white Christian, the Muslim is my brother, the black man is my brother, NO ONE HURTS MY BROTHERS. Love this song, fight for your country America, every culture is important. Our Father is watching.
That was a video of that man’s SOUL. Very few performers these days are capable of beating that type of vulnerability. He is a voice of a generation. Just stunning. So nice to see your honest reaction to him!!!! ❤
He paid nothing. In June he performed for 20 people for free. RadioWV reached out to him wanting to do this video at his little farm near FarmVille, VA. He was dealing with his alcoholism for about 30 days, suicide thoughts etc. anyway, he agreed to do the video. It was released and it’s been on RU-vid and Spotify for a couple weeks with 21 million views. And he has 5 songs in top 10 of Spotify. No fancy sound mixing. That’s a resonator guitar. He started writing songs 2 yrs ago. His use of the double entendres is great.
@@sharonlahaye5803 That says more about you than him. If the truth doesn't speak to your soul, you might have lost it living a life you know you shouldn't. At the end of the day. God always knows.
First time here. It's Appalachian folk music. He's going through depression from addiction. I've been watching all the reactions. The facial expressions when people hear the lyrics are priceless. Edit. Oliver (Chris) says it's not Appalachian folk. He is from east of there.
I’m a 1st generation Mexican-American who had to start working at 15 as a dishwasher to help out at home. This song makes me want to cry, especially “young men are putting themselves 6 feet in the ground, cause all this dam country does is keep on kicking them down” because it’s a sad reality for many men who are quietly struggling. I wish it weren’t so…
At the end of the day you at least reflected and realized how people are steered into thinking in a certain way. The good thing is the artist made it clear what the song is about. Enjoyed the honesty my bruthas.
Thank you for your reaction and comments! This song represents so many of us. We are all Americans. This song is about Government dividing us when we are all in the same spot. They couldn’t handle us if we all joined forces because it would be all of us against them! Thanks guys ❤️
Love this reaction video!! I’m from a small town! This song hits home with everyone! ALL OF US! We are all the same and equal! You guys are awesome! I love it!! 5 stars from me!
He turned down an 8 million dollar music deal!! John Rich told him DON'T SIGN WITH ANYBODY! Stay Independent and you will be able to sing ANYTHING! THIS SONG Unites We The People!! ❤
His heart is in his music. You can hear it in his voice, and you can't fake that. That's what I always loved about Tupac, you could tell he was always speaking from the heart when it came to certain songs and subjects.
For those that don’t know, the instrument he is playing is a reverberating guitar commonly known as a Dobro. My grandfather played this as a backup musician, even playing at the Grand Ole Oprey in Nashville TN. I miss him terribly and he would have LOVED this song! He was NOT a religious man, but he would always say “I’ll let the missus pray for our souls, but I swear to GOD I hate politicians! The only time they care about the working man is when they want our vote!” I love the fact that Oliver came out and said this song wasn’t for the left or the right, it was about ALL the politicians north of Richmond!! This song sings to EVERYONE and tells them that we need to look at those in power who have prioritized profits and power over the common good of us all!
He's on his property, with his dogs. See the deer blind in the tree? He lives off the grid in a camper. Just turned down 8 million, said, no, I don't want it. Local radio station came to record it.
Oliver Anthony is an ex factory worker and now off grid farmer and lives with his 3 dogs. He's been writing his own music for several years with hundreds of songs. However, dealing with mental illness and alcoholism he came to the end of his rope, and got on his knees and prayed to the Lord asking if he would sober him up and let his music touch others. After this prayer, Radio WV, a radio station in West Virginia listened to a couple of his songs 30 days ago, and said they would help financially to record his first album, then recorded this video, 'with a real microphone!' said Anthony. Prior, all his songs were only recorded on his iphone. Radio WV or Anthony had no idea when his song was released to the public last week that it would go viral. He played at a farmers market on Sunday, which normally has 20 people and thousands showed up. Many of his songs are now in the top 10 on itunes. John Rich, country artist, said he would help financially as well to produce his first album with Radio WV. Two days ago he received an $8 million dollar record contract and turned it down, because if he would have had a big record contract 30 days ago, this song never would have been heard as its not what the mainstream corporate music machine wants to put out.. and is why he wants to remain independent. He is now selling merchandise, but he chose a small business near his home in Farmville, VA. A bigger company would get the merchandise out faster, but small businesses need financial help more at this time, he has said. He opened at the farmers market Sunday reading a psalm from the Bible. The guy is the real deal and you can feel his heart through his song and his actions. This song has touched the heart of every American, and beyond. People from Australia, Europe, New Zealand all feel the truth that comes thru the lyrics of this song as well.
This Man's song; inspired by the Almighty, is a message straight to our Souls. Wicknedness continues to rampage throughout our society, because so many of us are passive observers to Evil's onslaught upon us all...
Hank Wikliams Sr. Of the new millineum. Real life, real emotion, simply stated. Billions worldwide are connecting with this song. Even listening to it in china! We are living in this century of the roaring 20's!!
Our color doesn't mean sh*t :) Good thing that talent moves us all together sometimes. We've been used and abused, that's their whole plan to make us hate each other, but the thing is; we are all the same, and we"re all in this sh*t together. It's time for us to understand and embrace our differences. From a french white dude, love you my brothers.
He has several songs out, worth a listen. He said this this is the first song he has recorded with a mic and a camera. The rest were recorded on his phone. His music speaks to your soul. I wish him the best.
Thank you for taking the time to share your opinion and for giving this guy airplay. We need more ppl like you and him. God bless my brother. We all might have different mothers but we all have the same FATHER!! So I'm grateful to you him and everyone who comes thru. I love y'all my brothers and sisters. The Bible says if you can't love your brother for which you see then how do you love me for which you can't see. That might not be word for word but close enough. God bless ppl. Y'all stay safe and try to help our brother reacting to this song and our brother singing it. Together we can!!! That's why the rich men north of Richmond want us sperated.
I appreciate honest reactions ❤ This Oliver Anthony is new to me. This song is blowing up because it is so relatable to anyone who's middle class or below. That's most of us. I like the video and song Humble and Kind by Tim Mcgraw. Country suggestion with a good message.
He loves Trump. No more political hate groups, let's have Americans Lives Matter. As a proud black man I tell my kids we are all the same just focus on being true to yourself and respect everyone. Trump 2024❤
Just happened up on yall and I love your honest soul felt reations. This song is for anyone who has ever felt the frustration of working away our lives, not having a say about where the taken tax money goes and being thought of as ignorant because we are the laborers. Men, Women, Hispanic, Asian, Black, White, it doesnt matter because they see us as the sheep that bring in the money when they herd us to the market to make their money off of our lives, but we arent stupid. WE KNOW and the unity that this song has stirred has been removing those dividers that they have tried to put between us. My Daddy used to say " Many hands make light work", well now that people are resonating with this song in a unified way, we DO have many hands. Loved y'alls reaction and you just gained a new subscriber❤
