Thanks for being so chill and showing things like mealybugs and the bald crown on your prostrata. Nothing is ever perfect in nature and I sometimes forget that.
My reaction involved Crown & Ginger! Later, I realized the "mealy bug" was ACTUALLY a tiny piece of paper towel from absorbing water on a hoya leaf; but, man, what a remedy! Lol!
It was recently cottonwood season and I saw a bit of fluff on my plants and went into full panic mode. I thought half my plants were infested before I realized I’d left the back door open and fluff was all over my house.
I would rather have mealy bugs on all my plants than spider mites on ONE 😂 Mealy are super easy to control but spider mites are seriously from the pits of hell.
I really liked the informal tone of the vlog as a 'side dish' to the main Plant One on Me episodes. I seem to be adding more peps so I have thoroughly enjoyed these tips and information.
Obsessed with your plant video’s. I’ve never been into plants, but a year ago I bought like 2 plants and am totally OBSESSED right now. I bought my 22nd plant yesterday haha.. thanks for all your tips and advices. It really helps. 😊🌿
Thank you for putting out such great content. Your videos are what sparked my plant lust which lucky for me it turned into love and a green, lush home. I too, like a previous commenter, tend to bunch my plants near windows out of fear they will starve. When I see your home in your videos I remember to relax and listen to the plants. I believe I may have a few species in my collection that you don't seem to have, let me know if you'd be interested in cuttings and I'd be happy to send a few. I have Peperomia a macrostachya and a huge Peperomia trinervula. Thanks again for all the great info.
Hi Jamie, so wonderful that your home has turned into a lush carpet of greenery! I don't know where you're based, but you should definitely come to one of our plant swaps (if in the area) to do some cutting exchanges :) Thanks for tuning into the channel.
@@summerrayneoakes I would love too but alas, I'm in SW Florida. If you find yourself back down here near NSE tropicals, we are not far here in Naples. Also, you mentioned the scent of the Pep flowers in this video, my trinervula smells amazing... Kinda cannabis like.
I felt like I was walking with you trying to rush you over so see the Hens😅 I enjoy all you do. I have a mobile grooming business in Orlando Florida, as I put your videos on for a background noise and education on plants. Listening to you I groom in total serene. Thank you Summer!
What a great treat it has been this week. Great video, out on the street, having lunch with you..then a great home tour. Love seeing how you display and place the plants. Thank you Summer, what a great week.
"integrated pest management"- (laugh) my friends thought that I was crazy for releasing a bunch of ladybugs into my apartment. Glad to hear that I'm not the only one! Seriously, though. I really like the new casual format and the 'in the natural habitat' tour. I like the glimpses of all the other treasures in your jungle. Thank you for sharing.
Sweet we haven't had you for so long and then bam you give us three in a row in a week!! Thank you so much, plus the Kippy Posse in the end that was so cute!
Peperomia meridiana does extremely well in a terrarium. It will spread and needs to be kept in check because it forms thick mats. Also, loving the "Adventures with Miss SRO" new format! 👏😁
I know this was posted a year ago but I recently found you and now trying to catch up!! Lol I have a major crush on anything peperomia and I find that you are very informative. ❤️
I watched this again with my husband and it was even more awesome lol we adore you! the fact that you have chicken growing in Brooklyn, is just beautiful... we need more humans like you in this planet.
I have several health problems. One of them, fibromyalgia, causes loss of sleep. It's 3:09 a.m. here in Charlotte, NC & I just finished watching this wonderful video. Thank you so, so much Summer! Even tho I sometimes have to write notes to remember stuff, this was very relaxing to me. Do I think I'll be able to go to sleep now? I don't think so; but, at least I'm no longer wound up as tight as a banjo string! Your collection is mind-boggling! Seriously! Two of your last 3 videos have added sooo many more plants to my Plant Wishlist! Why only 2 of them? SOMEHOW, I got confused & didn't watch the middle one yet! By the time I realized what I had done, I was already involved with this one & there was no way that I was going to turn back! My daughter gifted me with the 'Rana Verde' for my birthday in November. It's STILL growing like crazy and I LOVE this plant! What variety of Aglaomena is that beside your 'Rana Verde' under that ficus? It's gorgeous! The lady who I bought my first 'Rosso' from had a lot of other peperomias and she told me that Peperomia 'Ruby Cascade' is the devil! Lol! She said that she can grow almost everything else that she's ever tried; but, 'Ruby Cascade' hates her! Too funny! That last Peperomia scandens on the top left side of a case at the SW facing window is absolutely loving it's life! A truly happy plant! It's been a very long time since I ate dinner; so, I'm going to save your 2nd video in this series and go find something to eat! Thank you Summer for sharing your plants, home & knowledge with your followers/subscribers. I'm definitely going to be on the lookout for a video or series of them devoted to hoyas, my favorite plants! Take care & Plant Love! 🌾💜
I love this episode 😍 I've never been too fond of peperomia but you've definitely sparked an interest for them! Shoutout to Apricot for being so cute 😍
Your extemporaneous discussion of light requirements was quite interesting. When growing plants indoors there is almost always a compromise made between the ideal and the available cultural conditions. Most plants, even some of the finickiest, will do ok even when one or two of their preferred environmental factors are minimally provided. By example; at one time I grew a number of different types of orchids in a ‘sun room ‘. The light was great, the humidity good but the temperatures, day and night, were well below those recommended. All of the plants did well and flowered nicely. Some grew slower than they would under ideal temperatures but they grew properly.
I very much enjoy your channel. I go to nurseries and just drool now! Sadly, I'm not home often enough to bring home many of the beautiful plant babies. The footage of Kellie and Company was adorable!
Found 'Rana Verde' several months ago here in NH. I grabbed two because they're quite scarce. Very nice plant. I've got several huge pots and hanging baskets of P. quad...they''re very drought-tolerant...they seem happy with watering perhaps twice a month.
Great tour and information. I'm looking into Peperomias, and wanted more information. I love how the chickens run to you when you called. So adorable! I'm glad you took care of them before the hawk.. lol. Thank you for the video.
Summer... I have been on the hunt for a peperomia and a monstera plus a pink lady, like crazy!!! The peperomia hoffmannia looks so cool, the way it grows!! I swear, I end up getting so upset because I can never find these varieties here😆 the hardest part for me, is choosing which one I want to get because they are all amazing and unique! I've been a grower and collector for about 6 years now, and love the beauty mother nature has to offer us, right at the tips of our fingers! It's always such a pleasure to watch anything you post! Love your house set up too so much! I can't wait to set mine up similar, I am a crazy plant lady for sure! 😀 People always ask me, "are you ever going to stop buying and adding to what you have?", I said "no way!!". The more the better for me 😁 Thanks for sharing! I love watching you 💟
Just looking fondly through the old photo albums. So much has happened in the last 2 marathon years. Much success and good times, then you can afford a meal and enjoy it with friends. It is possible to do all of this work when you are young so go for it. Am watching your Flock channel too. I like these quiet videos as well. Maybe new fans would like this channel too. 😊🐔🐔
I loved this episode! I have a peperomia rubella and it was helpful to hear you to talk about the many variations of peperomias. Also, I appreciate your clarity when speaking and helpful tips. :)
OMGGGG !! YESSSS !! THESE ARE THE BEST SUMMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) I swear your videos, morning tea, with my 9 month old = a whole vibe girl! :) thank you for spoiling us with your ethereal energy
I am listening to ‘Prad’ by Yann Tiersen while being on RU-vid and just fell on your video( sound of video was off) and it fits so magically together you should try it, switch of the sound from your video and the song on, your flat looks like a fairytale with that music together ;D. Greetings Annabelle. Wonderful channel by the way. So much to learn.
I love your videos; seeing all those plants makes me happy and I'm learning so much! Thank you! And I really loved the ones about peperomia (I watched the 3 more than once), this genus is one of my new plant related obsessions.
I loved this! Truthfully it was so therapeutic for me 😌. Thank you for that! Thank you for all the tips. I was also so entertained by your various plants and their placements. I wish to see more of your plants. Maybe different tours of the different areas in your home 😊🙏😍
Thanks for your peperomia plants. I've been purchasing them as well. I'm still looking for the watermelon peperomia. The florist in my area said that since that plant is in high demands it will take longer to get them. All your plants are beautiful.
I love watching your videos they are so calming . I love all of your plants since i have been watching your videos i have gained 40 plants lol and i am enjoying all of them. Thanks for all your videos.
Wonderful video! I became interested when I researched cat safe plants. I found them unboxing a hanging Beetle and Emerald Ripple so those are my first. I have a 90 gallon heavily planted angel fish aquarium growing under LEDS and someday when they fish die, it will by my terrarium.
Hello Summer! Newly subscribed. I am a beginner but fell in love with peperomias. But because I am new I was wondering if you can do a video on describing the differences between peperomia verticillata red log, red Ecuador, maybe even rubella? Cause I’ve seen so many of them that look so identical and I don’t want to get the wrong one or at least label them correctly. It would be awesome for you to do a video on it. Maybe even another video for tetragona, puteolata, and quadrangularis, etc. since they kind of look similar as well. Would super appreciate at least considering the video idea! Thank you! I love your plants, especially the peperomias. ❤️
Just seen the part where you discussed brown on your undesides of your watermelon pep. Got up to compare the brown on my new rana verde pep that was just delivered. Threw a sweater on it and moved it to a different spot!
The Summer Rayne Oakes DRINKING GAME! Everytime Summer says "Peperomia" you take a shot! 1:00: This is going to be fun! 2:00: Oookay, slow down, girl! 3:00: What have I done? 5:00: I won't survive this video. 10:00: I can control the growth of my fingers by saying Peperomia. 15:00: Am I Peperomia? Aren't we all Peperomia? 20:00: I am Russians new god. 25:00: I have now reached a new level of conciousness. I have overcome death. 28:10: The universe ended. The Big Bang won't repeat itself. Everything that ever existed and has become Peperomia.
This format of video is a great idea, congrats! :) It raised a question I had for a long time: you have several plants living at the base of your Ficus Lyrata tree. I kindda wish to create some source of plant ecosystem for a while as well, and doing it under the fig tree appears to be a great idea. Which kind of plants would you recommend as the best fit for this purpose? I am giving it a 3-1- 3 fertilizer regularly and I'm afraid if I introduce other plants in there they will not react well to it. Thank you :)
Fun vid! I love how organic you are! Teaches me something every time i view your videos. 💕 Also, can you do a video on an Elephant Bush? I've had one for approx two months and its doing well, but it looks like it needs repotting.
I hadn't heard of Peperomia's before & I had took a cutting from a hanging plant of my great Aunt's.....it's a Peperomia scandens!!! I didn't use a root hormone & it's grown in length but doesn't have 'new' growth yet.....?? I have it outside on our south facing porch... in San Antonio TX 😆😍😎😊
Going thru your home is so relaxing😎. I am totally enjoying your videos... question? Are all those chickens yours...they're so cute ! I'll say it again ❤️❤️❤️ this new content/and style of your filming! See you next week...thanks 🐓🐓🐓👍🏼
hey Sally! I volunteer at the chicken coop at the local Senior Citizen Service Center 3X a day-seven days a week! Kippee stays there part of the day too. We raised the funds for the coop partially through the local Plant Swaps held here. Some of the chickens are rescue chickens we picked up at Wild Bird Fund, which is the local rehabilitation center here. Here's the coop build-out if you're curious!: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3XYJHiigsTY.html
Hi Summer! Very interesting video, especially for someone like me who just discovered my love for peps....I only have a very small one but love her very much. Lately I m a bit concerned about her leaves which look ...textured ...I have no idea what it might be..
Gorgeous place and nice video. Thanks for uploading! Since you got so many plants, I am wondering how many hours do you spend on watering them per week? Do you have any strategy to keep yourself on the top of the watering schedule? Also, I am really curious about how can you water them without letting the water dripping and wet everywhere? From my knowledge that most of your pots have drainage hole. (I watched your episode on self-watering)
hi Summer I've been contemplating taking that houseplants masterclass but needed to know. First off I am Canadian but I don't think that should mater. AND is everything done electronically?? Meaning do I need to print things off and send in or all done online??? I know some stuff, but always willing to learn more!!
Peperomia pellucida is edible.. I loved it as a salad with sliced ginger, sprouts, and sauce made with rice flour concoction added with balsamic vinegar or lemons juice and tamari/ponzu sauce.
That was really relaxing and informative for a Sunday morning 😊 I'm looking forward to more like this. Thanks so much! Do you have any Homalomena plants? I have one and info about it online is pretty limited. So many questions...
How is your Ruby Cascade doing? Do you repot them when you first get a new plant? I'm concerned that mine came in not-as-well-draining soil but its flowering. Thank you!
I have a Peperomia verticillata (Red log) plant and the leaves are constantly dropping off..I've only had it a couple of months.. I thought it was because I over watered it but now I'm afraid it might be mealy bugs? FYI I water it once a week and it is on a shelf near a window with indirect light. What am I doing wrong?!! There's not much info about the Red log plant around, and I want to save it because it's so beautiful!
I didn't quite catch what you called the plant that is overgrowing in your terrarium! I live in Maldives and I have a hanging pot of that and haven't been able to identify it at all!!
ok i am going back in time to watch this because I have been handed a whole of lot of peps and I have no idea how to care for them. So this was very useful. Thanks a lot. Can you also satisfy the inquiring mind on how to put together a terrarium pls, soil, plats and keeping it alive. Thanks so much Sumer. I am from Tropical sri lanka
I wonder if she would be interested in freshwater plants or those that can grow emersed which needs high humidity. If she had a kokedama or even an iwagumi style vase/tank, she won't need a humidifier as much.
This peperomia scandens variegata is really interesting:) Looks like a mix of ficus benjamina and a philodendron, very nice:) I want to thank you for the peperomia tour. I thought my peperomias are dying because they're not getting enough light at my attic apartment but after watching your video I guess I need to rethink my care routine :/ I have a nice large ficus, maybe I will pot the peperomias in together with the ficus like you did in one case and it will solve the watering/humidity issue. What do you think? And also I really like that you gave the captions for your plants:)
