This is a terrific video. I use 3 of these products! I use the matrixyl and the argireline every night (ish) and do see results, I think? I however REALLY like the eye serum, which I use in the morning. I just drip a single drop in my palm and can pat it in as enough for my eyes and around my lip lines. I think at that level of use it might literally last forever. The other peptide containing products I have used and loved include the Cold Plasma Plus line (I used my points on the essence), the Biossance copper peptide serum and the Peach & Lily Peptide Pro moisturizer. I typically use any copper peptide products on alternating mornings with Vitamin C, and use a Vitamin C derivative on the days I use the copper peptides. Hard to know about results because my face with all of these products is the poster child for confounding factors. I always appreciate when you give us the deep science dive, Alice. Thank you!
@AliceintheRabbitHole
@AliceintheRabbitHole Год назад
Yes!! I wasn’t sure about the TO eye serum early on, but I’ve barely made a dent in it with consistent use. Might be another case of the DDG eye serum all over again (but a lot less upfront costs LOL!!)
@grannieannie1371

So one thing that you haven't incuded about matrixyl peptides is that all of them, (there are four blends) are approved by the FDA as being safe for the eye area. I had hooded eyes and a lot of texture on my eyelid and a loss of elasticity due to estrogen deprived skin. So because of this I decided to try it on my eye area (I also used it on the rest of my face) but it was the only product used on my eye area for six months. There has been a significant improvement in this area. It's not perfect but it's waaay better. So if like me your skin is too sensitive for retinoids I would certainly give it a go.
@Emmie1

This explains so much! I bought TO Argireline and it was very much like applying glycerin to my face lol. I even gave it a good 2 month exclusive run on one side of my face. But I do have thicker skin (thank you years of acne) and I did apply it like my other anti-aging serums (on dry skin right after cleansing). I'll give it another go and try skin flooding beforehand to see if I can get any results. If not, I guess I have another fancy foot serum.

Thank you Alice, so informative 👍👍👍 i’ve used the Buffet for years, but switched to RNW ceramide conc serum recently in my night routine. I love this serum. For my eyes, i use NIOD FECC., which contains all goodies you need: peptides, niacinamide, ascorbic acid, caffeine, glycerin….Yes, it’s pricey, but as it’s the only expensive product in my routine and 1 bottle lasts me 6 months, I don’t care ( and i buy 2 bottles during slowvember😊 to cover a full year). Much love from Europe ❤

My thoughts while watching this video: I don't know anything about My Chemical Romance but I do understand what Kurt Cobain is singing, so I'm going to assume that's the same thing for different generations. So that's what Syn-ake is! I definitely used dozens of sheet masks with that label without having any clue what was on my face. I used a copper peptide serum (by Makeup Revolution, of all companies) that was amazing for the first bottle. I have photos - I practically lost a chin while using it because it helped that much with my sagging skin. Any time I've used it since - the same brand or another - I've gotten skin irritation. But the chin hasn't come back! I would love this to be a series. One topic idea: Are the peptides in more expensive products better? Is there more research behind what's in the Peach and Lily peptide cream than there is on the Buffet? What about Perricone MD or some of those other very high priced brand? Do we have any research showing the peptides in those products to be "worth" their price point? (I'm guessing brands have research they don't share, but from what we can access as consumers, what do we know about any correlation between effectiveness and price in this area?)

All of those are amazing but I really love the Dermtlgy needle less serum I use it in the day and I use the Biosionse squalene CP serum at night usually it's really hydrating u can find it in a set right now at marshals and TJ for 24.99 with the eye cream that's an amazing deal , I bought 2 the serum is 68$ and eye cream 50$ iby its self so if u can find it try it that way. I have the purito it's good to nice for day time and if your having irritation cause it has the cica in it or someone starting out . Noid is nice but super freaken expensive it went up to 92$ for less then and once I think . I also have the Ordinary CP serum it's ok to me it works but smells and kinda sticky .

BTW the Dermtlgy site is having 30% off idk how long it's on for I think it may end tonight or tomorrow. I got my backup of needle less. It last for a pretty long time u only use 3 to 5 drops I use it after my essence before my toner cause it's so thin.

It's interesting how different ingredients suite people so differently. I love peptides, I feel so much more hydration in my skin. Love TO copper peptides, this is actually the one product that I see difference in my skin right away. This was so fun and so incredibly helpful!! This reminded me of the last time I went down the rabbit hole, looking into sederma owned volufiline which has like 18 other names just add to the confusion 😂 peptides feel like some of the most confusing and popular ingredients ATM, so this info is invaluable! I like to use the matrixly’s for the in case/why not factor. I know that they certainly don’t hurt. I did an experiment with copper peptides when I was recovering from a scar revision (I used niods because they were the most concentrated) but tbh I had no control, so I have no idea whether or not it helped 😂 I do like the idea of the multi Serum for just covering all the bases! I hope in the future we get more data around this it is definitely super interesting!!
@AliceintheRabbitHole
@AliceintheRabbitHole Год назад
Did it seem to help? That was my issue with copper peptides too - I don’t think it hurt in my case, but I can’t say it helped beyond regular multi-peptide serum and a nice ceramide product. But yep, the multiple names for these peptides - phew! It’s a lot to take in lol!
@Criticalbeauty411
@Criticalbeauty411 Год назад
@@AliceintheRabbitHole you know I’m really not sure it helped my scar at all per se, but I was committed to using the full bottle bc of the cost. I think I disliked it in the beginning bc I felt like it made my skin feel more dry than usual. Once I started using it only at night with plenty of hydrators, I tolerate it fine but I think if improvements have been made, they have to be pretty minimal. It’s been a few months. I do plan on taking after pictures once the bottles done but I’m not expecting to re-purchase, it just doesn’t feel worth it rn.

Victoria D’Ann is a professional line of skincare products which is completely built around various peptides. They even claim that some of their peptides help to increase fat pads in certain areas of the face. I had trouble believing them but they have their “studies”. Would love your analysis of these products. You do a great job explaining all these ingredients and I really appreciate learning from you. Is there a particular resource that you use to research peptides? I’ve tried finding a book on peptides but so far been unlucky
@AliceintheRabbitHole
@AliceintheRabbitHole Год назад
No book, but the first citation I have listed was a gold mine for doing this video! It’s concise and clear. Is it in-house or funded studies? There’s nothing necessarily wrong with those, but most likely they don’t cover the less exciting findings. For example, if (big cereal company) hired my lab to figure out whether their cereals improve digestive health, we will measure different parameters. The cereal might help with some aspects, but do nothing in others. With a funded study, (big cereal company) will want us to only publish the promising data, and to ignore whatever didn’t look so great. A good unbiased study would report on the good, the bad, and the neutral. Hopefully that helps explain it!

I love when you put your researcher hat on (and purple hair) and explain things in ways that don’t require my trying to remember too much organic chemistry. Peptides are beautifully complex and while I may only seeing the positive results of two years of lovely, completely wearable, Korean sunscreen on my mature skin, I will continue trying peptides. I have noticed that continued use of the Ordinary’s Argireline seems to have decreased the tiny frown lines on the top of my nose in line straight across with my eyes; this is only place I use it, but I cannot discount other products I use that may migrate, such as retinol. I don’t tolerate retinoids in my eye area, but it is hard to completely prevent migration. I hope you will consider discussing more about peptides in the future.

I am starting to think that the original Buffet from TO I can buy here in Europe is a completely different formulation than what is available on the US market? The Buffet we have here is watery like the Argirilene, whereas their Matrixyl has a weird and goopy texture. This is opposite to what I hear from American reviewers - they seem to think the Matrixyl is watery and the Buffet is goopy. Had anyone else noticed that?

I have used the eye serum since the day it came out and still have 3/4th of the bottle left. It takes such a small dot of the product for both eyes that I feel like it will easily last me 6 months if not more. When I hear people bitch about how it’s only 1/2 ounce it confuses me because I feel like that would take a year to use. I have started to see really good results from the eye serum and I never say that with any product. I was due to get Botox last month and I cancelled because I don’t feel like my orbital eye wrinkles are that bad suddenly..call me crazy but I feel like it definitely works. I take the dropper out don’t even squeeze the dropper just dab one tiny drop on my finger and rub them together boom it works great! I’ve quit using any of the other peptide products from the ordinary because I just got sick of using so many bottles but I will vouch for this one
@AliceintheRabbitHole
@AliceintheRabbitHole Год назад
I think it’s a bit of a sticker shock situation. I’ve bought products from TO for under $5 - this feels more like L’Oréal pricing!? But I do agree, it’s a really nice product - at least in time (one of those “slower results” types lol). And given that other eye serums I’ve enjoyed are $80, in the end I have to say I’m pleased with it!

How was your experience with ample:N peptide shot? I think I made a mistake buying it. 😂 The fragrance is just 💀 Off topic: 10 years ago, I read about the signaling proteins and receptors (SNAP and SNARE) in med school. I knew I would never use this knowledge in my practice, and I was right. Now here I am, a doctor of medicine with an interest (not specialty) in skincare now encountering these proteins again! And really, you understood them better than I did. 😅 I am always amazed by the many things I learn from your channel. ❤

The ample:n is a like but not a love for me. I like how affordable it is and the choice of peptides; I don’t like the “peptide snakes” (just seems like a strange way to do it, given we realistically wouldn’t be able to see the peptides at the percentages they’re used?) The fragrance didn’t irritate my skin, but I can see it being off-putting! Thank you for the kind words! 🥰

Two things: have you ever tried the Perricone Neuropeptide night cream? I nabbed a tube at TJMaxx and I love the way it feels going on! I can't make claims on long-term results just yet. Also: I don't know why, but somehow over the last couple years I got it into my head that Oligopeptides are like- THE BEST of all the peptides. Why do I think this? Am I forgetting a hyped up product that these were featured in? I mean if I see a peptide serum or cream and check the label, I go through the ingredients looking for oligopeptides. Why?! This almost feels like a Mandela effect situation. Can you shed any light on this for me? Anyone else out there with this thought?
@AliceintheRabbitHole
@AliceintheRabbitHole Год назад
Hmm. Possibly because of EGF, maybe?? (Sh-Oligopeptide-1) I know that one has had a LOT of hype, but realistically it too does need more research, at least imo I haven’t tried it, but I hate that I love some perricone products lol. They really are frustratingly lovely. It’s nice to score good deals on them though!!

Yk that might be it. I know EGFs have a hand in SkinMedica's serum and even Augustinius Bader's supah secret formula. Hmm. That must be it

When you use the ordinary eye peptide serum, do you avoid using that on nights you use your adapalene? Just curious if I can do that because I use the peach and lily retinoic eye cream and adapalene and I’ve been using them on different nights in case. Also, can I use retinoic eye creams with vitamin c?
@AliceintheRabbitHole
@AliceintheRabbitHole Год назад
Nope, I use them together! 😃 Peptides and retinoids are a great duo, copper peptides aside which - frankly, it seems there are mixed opinions on whether to combine those or not. I play it safe and do other peptides+retinoids

@_SunscreenQueen_
@_SunscreenQueen_ 11 месяцев назад
Survival 0 is the best thing I’ve ever put on my face omg. I use it right out of the shower and follow it up with a vit c. I wait about 15 min which ensures product penetration and allows my skin to return to the proper ph. I can then sandwich buffet between toners and this helps eliminate the risk of contraindication.

I always use La Roache Posay Cica Balm around my eyes and my lips area before I use any tretinion. Before I know it would travel to my eyes. My eyelids had eczema where there never was before. I couldn’t use any eyeshadow or anything it would look busted. Now that seemed to do the trick. As far as irritation anything else who knows.

Good plan. I really wish we had more research on this, tbh especially with retinol. It’s so easy to walk into a store and buy a retinol product; it’s so hard to know for sure that people aren’t overusing that around their eye area??

It’s hard to say. On one hand, I like the idea as we actually have research looking at microneedling patches (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7992733/) - but it would also be important to take care in what else is in the formula!

I’m so sorry but no peptide is the same as Botox. I’ve used these products and I get Botox eveey 6months. None of them can do what Botox can do. This is marketing. I use to spend 100s-1000s on beauty creams/masks/acids etc. finally I said this is stupid and started getting Botox.. it’s not expensive either. I’ve unfortunately/ literally paid more for one beauty cream then one Botox visit. I live in Massachusetts so - I book my Botox in my (no sales taxes) a appt is less then 300$ for ur entire face in New Hampshire.. I go to skin medics they have two locations. After finally getting it done I wish I would of just got it instead of trying every crazy product that comes out.. IJS🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

I think peptides are actually overhyped and if they do something is just some hydration (not even comparable to hyaluronic acid or glycerin). Overall is just a another marketing scheme.
