Forgot to mention that they designed the seat area to accommodate a sit on top ice chest slash live well rather than a seat. It’s in my too 3 of favorite kayaks.
ha! all geared up it looks like a little tug boat in the beginning of the video. I would love to go fishing with that boat...I agree, it is all about the features...your fishing, not navigating a whitewater river. These fishing kayak videos are fun. Thanks Wade.
Just got mine yesterday and I opted for the plano imitation saddle bags. $22 each at Walmart and fit perfect. I can't wait to get it on the water tomorrow.
Good to see this. I blind bought this because was the only one in town with a decent capacity; hadn't looked at any reviews. I am 6'6" 265lbs so the stability is very good to see
Hey Wade! I love your thorough, inside knowledge, review of the outlaw, 11.5. I’ve had mine for about a month and a half, and made a lot of the mods that you’ve mentioned. I also fashioned a swivel seat Play and raise the overall seat height to 11 1/2 inches which works pretty well. No stability issues.
Been watching so many reviews on this particular yak and yours by far is the best. Would like to see some practice flipping the yak back over and getting back in for safety. As you know shit happens..
Yeah I had that video idea but needed a second camera from shore for that because from go pro it just be a bunch of bubbles so never got around to doing it.
I have caught standing and also sit and reel it in I don’t usually have a net on me I started carrying one recently just in case landed a beast and would be so pissed if lost it right at the kayak next time im going to try to stand and tell in and net it
I don’t have this at the moment it was a long term demo I never got it on chop or moving currents and would really just recommend this for lakes and ponds
I have this same kayak . I love it . What length paddle does everyone use? I’ve got a 240 , but I get a lot of paddle drip . May just be my paddling style. I’d appreciate some suggestions. I’ve moved the drip rings and that didn’t help . Thanks in advance and have a blessed day 🙏.
Hey Cal, yeah, I put a link in the description on the paddle I use it is called the Werner Camano Hooked Adjustable Fiberglass Kayak Fishing Paddle -------- amzn.to/3H9hhPS I highly recommend this paddle its adjustable 24cm-260cm I paddle different fishing kayaks and Bonafide and Outlaw you want that 260cm and lower to the water ones like Cresent I go 240cm and comes with drip rings installed I always suggest going with a really good paddle these will last forever and fit a lot of different boats so even if you sale the outlaw and get something else it will adjust to it.
Great review. It's refreshing to see someone with industry knowledge doing reviews and explaining the molding process etc., Thanks for sharing. I have a question for you. If you had to choose between this and the Old Town Sportsman 120 (paddle) which would you choose (I found a like new 2021 old town for about the same price)? I'm looking for something that I can fish ponds/small lakes and that's it. Not covering lots of ground, I want stable and I want to stand up fishing without thinking about it. Love to hear your opinion.
I have not paddle the sportsman’s but I have looked them over. And I can tell you if your just wanted a fishing platform for small lakes and ponds you will not be disappointed in the outlaw I highly recommend this kayak for that but lake cruising and all round paddling I would say Crescent CK1 or Native Falcon
I had a Sportsman 120 and sold it and bought the outlaw. The Sportsman does paddle better and is definitely faster but I had two problems with it that led to me selling it. First is the lack of under seat storage. In the high seat position you can only get single Plano boxes under the seat. Anything like a double sided box will not fit. Second and the biggest flaw is the lack of water drainage on the deck. When you look at the deck you will obviously see the problems as how the deck is molded and not designed for water to run to the scupper holes. No scuppers under the seat which led to any gear under seat getting soaked. I dealt with the water the best I could with 2 way valves but after wet feet and wet gear on a nine hour river float I realized the Sportsman wasn’t for me.
@@WadeHarrison I had the Dapper color Outlaw and sold it. It’s a nice color but just wasn’t me as I really wanted the grasshopper color. Tried a Bonafide 107 after I sold the outlaw and realized really fast that I prefer the outlaw so I ordered the grasshopper. The tracking alone is worth the price of the kayak. I really like the rod holders more then I realized I would. One thing that gets overlooked on the outlaw is the weight of the kayak. So much lighter to move around then the Old Town or Bonafide.
@@michaelrutter3823 great feedback Michael I really liked the grasshopper color and I agree your spot on about the tracking and weight I tried to cover that in the video several times I always like to get feedback from anyone that watches the video thanks for watching
How would you compare this boat to the Bonafide ss 107. Very nice video. I'm torn between the Perception 11.5 the Bonafide ss 107 and the Old Town Sportsman 106. Any thoughts on the 3 kayaks?
The outlaw is more on par with the Bonafide RS117 then the 107 I thought the 107 was good and has the hatch for inside storage nice seat easy to upgrade but it’s 500$ more then the outlaw the rs is I think 100$ more and is a great value but I think the outlaw edges it out slightly with the open deck and rod storage I have not been in the sportsman but have seen them out before if I had to suggest boats in this price point I would say crescent LT Bonafide RS117 and percep outlaw 11.5 trust me you can’t go wrong with any of these
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ua_LlJV6wuo.html Hey Darrel The Suspenz Carts are the best I have found and there are few versions this all terrain cart is the one I use check the video and I linked to where you can get one at the bottom of that video or you can just message them and tell them I sent you their way and can figure out what works best for your needs
How slow is this kayak? I've been on the fence on this kayak and the Lifetime Teton 116. Lifetime seems to be good all the way around for the money and is $280 less than the Preception. I see that it is build alot heavier duty than the Lifetime. But scared my wife will have to wait for me in her F&S Blade 120
It’s not a fast boat it’s very wide and super stable not meant for speed at all more slightly cruising around and casting and yeah it’s little more but the build quality and features really will sit this apart from Lifetime
Yeah because this kayak is very wide and you sit high you want at least a 240cm mine is a 260cm to 280cm I use this one *Werner Camano Hooked Adjustable* amzn.to/3gNdPj5
For sure buddy if there’s one kayak that has the correct weight limit it’s this one trust me and they have free side bags with purchase here amzn.to/4dfpTVN
no I have actually never had a kayak paddling lesson And I paddle all over the USA so I’m definitely down for a lesson if your giving free ones thanks for the feedback 🤩
@@WadeHarrison I'm on the east coast. You could save yourself alot of work.i wasn't being a smartass.i never took a class until years intonthe sport and it taught me so much I thought I knew..its a good idea for anyone really
@@mlkabc123 oh I love that you commented 🥰 but seriously I have won several kayak races and placed among top paddlers in some of the most extreme whitewater races in the world so definitely know how to transfer power through core rotation and vertical paddle placements but if you noticed this kayak the seating position is extremely high from the deck also the kayak is insanely wide and there are no footrails to transfer the power through the core so your feet are just resting on the floor so yeah I get watching this from bow mount camera looks like I’m just failing around 😂
