Percy’s mom named him in hope that he will not have a tragic fate

As a fan of the book series the trailer worked for me!! Watching the cast interviews really sealed the deal on the main trio tho. Just give it time, it’s Percy’s series I’m not surprised they focused on him in the first official trailer.

The best part of the books was the adventure. A lot of movie adaptations cut out the adventure and jump straight to the key points. Going along on the adventure with the characters is what makes you fall in love with them. The movies didn't offer enough to fall in love with.

This looks SO MUCH MORE like the books than the movies did. It includes SO many things that the movies left out. This is what happens when the author is involved in the process (ala Good Omens and The Sandman.) I mean...if you read the books then you can watch this trailer and say: yep, I know that part; yep, I know what this is; yep, that's how I saw it in my head. Thank you Mr Riordan and Disney. Can.Hardly.Wait.

Exactly! It feel like in all the teasers and trailers we've gotten they're showing lots of scene and characters that were in the books but left out of the movies and for me at least it feel like a jab at the movies that this series is going to get things right and be a faithful adaptation book fans will really enjoy. For instance we know that the characters are going to be age accurate, Ares is going to be in the series and the fight between him and Percy will take place, the St Louis Arch scene with Echidna and the Chimera is going to happen, the Waterland and the Tunnel of Love scene will be happening, Nancy Bobofit Percy's bully is going to make her appearance, Clarisse and Dionysus are going to be in the first season, the Montauk scene will be happening, and more! None of those scene were in the movies so it's going to be so cool so finally scene them!

@@hobbes6557 right?? i also really hope the reaveal that percy is poseidons son will happen like in the book. i was very disappointed that in the book everyone seemed to already new for a long time. that felt so weird for me, cause it seemed like not that big of a deal to them, even tho there is an important prophecy about him that affects all their lifes. but on the other hand from the second movie i could see they didnt have an intention to continue filming the other books, so they may have just ignored that fact...

14:02 She named him Perseus because he is the only greek demigod who had a happy ending. Sally literally said it in the trailer.

Rick Riordan famously hated the movies _because_ they didn't stick close to the book. I don't understand why anyone would claim they did. Chris Columbus openly said he didn't even read the book. Riordan published his emails to Fox where he gave feedback on the script. He washed his hands of any responsibility for it immediately as soon as he learned they had no interest in taking his advice.
@jennameans6919

the movies did not at all stay close the books. rick riordan sent lengthy messages to the creators of the first movie, after reading the script, and told them if they proceeded that the movies would fail. and they did. i am beyond excited for this faithful adaption. i think these kids are going to do fantastic.

As a long time fan, I think the trio nailed the characters. Walker Scobel is the best percy jackson, he literally radiates pj energy just from his past projects. Aryan Simahri also looks promising and Leah, I love her Annabeth so much. We haven't seen much of her from the trailer though. But I trust the author when he said they are the best for the characters. Also, no the movie pjo cast was nowhere near the books and they weren't great either. To me they give off the 'we're just here for the money' vibe. Lol. Anyway, excited for this series.
@sarahbosch9660
@sarahbosch9660 10 месяцев назад
i agree to all your points! especially the "only here for the money part". for teenage books adations i generally feel that the directors and co think that the book fans will watch the movies anyway, no matter how bad they are, and dont put in the work. then they get surprised by the bad sale numbers of the second movie at the latest and stop the franchise. *sigh* (City of Bones, Eragon and Peter Johnson are just examples. i loved how they redid City of Bones in Shadowhunters, even tho it wasnt really faithful to the books. and i am SO excited for now percy jackson and the planned eragon reboot!)

Percy, as a son of Poseidon is able to draw strength and stamina when he is in water, which is a huge boon as it acts almost like a power source through many of his conflicts in the novels.

The first motive that makes this cast better: the age. Also, Rick said its a perfect cast (this trailer was about clearly about Percy). As a fan, the trailer is incridble. - bad english, im brazilian.

Walker Scobell was actually in The Adam Project with Ryan Reynolds where he plays a kid version of Reynolds' character and he really shone in it. If you go watch the movie, you can see why Scobell was cast as Percy.

I know a lot of people already said it, but i just got so frustrated: THE PETER JOHNSON MOVIES WERE NOT A "FAITHFUL" ADPATION! And just because its a good fantasy youth noviel doenst mean its a greek version of harry potter! there are loads of ya books about teens in magic schools/ camps/ or whataver institution you can imagine, but harry potter as well as percy jackson stand out for different reasons, so percy jackson is a masterpiece in its own way and not just another version of a more popular franchise.

I am hoping for the expanded universe. As I have read the first 2 book series, including the Roman camp, and the Kane Cronicles, the cross-over universe is exciting. A lot of story to tell. Hard part is kid actors grow up quick.

As someone who read the first book a while before the first movie. And again a while after watching the movie. I can tell you the movie did NOT have a good cast. They were too old and portrayed characters very badly compared to how their personalities are in the books. It’s too obvious the directors didn’t even try to make a good adaptation of the book. And that the actors didn’t have any knowledge of the og story. I would say the movies was a major disrespect to the og story. It was so bad the author didn’t wanna acknowledge them. I’ve always hoped this amazing book series eventually would get a worthy adaptation. And this trailer gives me hope.

Alexandra Daddario, while a good actress, was 27 during the sequel (playing a character that was meant to be 13). They aged up the characters in the films, even though their age is crucial to the story. The casting of the "kids" was terrible. The films on their own were meh. As adaptations, they were awful. This series gives me hope! It should've always been a TV series.

This Shannon guy said a bunch of things that do not make sense at all. The first movie is completely innacurate to the book and hated by a lot of the fans. Everything is wrong with it, from the writing to the casting. Plus, saying Percy Jackson is just "Harry Potter with greek mythology" is a really shallow comparison, as they're very different stories.

The movie adaptations were really good. Just like the first two Harry Potter movies, they are almost page for page adaptation, which you can't really complain about because it is exact to the authors vision. However this version varies differently by changing the cast around quite drastically. Me personally, I have not been excited by what I have seen so far, so I will wait and hold my opinion until I see the show.

The first sentence is really concerning? Have you read the book, I don't think so. These movies were trash and the worst adaptation I have ever seen. They had nothing common with the source material, whereas this tv show will be a faithful adaptation. Characters' looks should be your least worries what really matters is their perosonalities which I can assure you they chose right actors

The movies were absolutely not anything like the books. The author had nothing to do with them and has written extensively about how much he disliked them. Maybe you should reread the book.

@@raymoon28 the looks tho is what makes the characters the character, for me them changing Annabeth isn’t just a small change bc all the children of Athena kinda have the same characteristics, I just don’t see her as Annabeth yet but I’m going to give her a chance to show why she was cast. Also her blonde hair and her not being a stereotypical blonde dumb girl was a part of her character that’s just gone

I will always say 🖕 to this series. Years ago, I wrote a script called YOUNG OLYMPIANS, which, at the time, I described as GOONIES meets CLASH OF THE TITANS( two of my favorite movies from the 80s). I even pitched it at a Creative Screenwriting Expo pitch festival back in the early 2000s. I remember Circle of Confusion being one of the tables I pitched at. Of course, being a newbie with no credits, it went nowhere. Cut to a couple of years later, i see an ad for Percy Jackson. I read the synopsis & was like "F#$@!" My only mistake is that I didn't turn it into a blatant Harry Potter rip-off... Lesson learned.

You do realize the book series came out in 2005. Rick Riodan wrote drafts back in the year 2000. Not saying two people can’t have similar ideas but sorry the mega corporation went with the known property that’s been out for almost 2 decades
