Finally someone said it, i feel like the pjo fans are afraid to talk about the issues this show has just bc rick was in it, they dont wanna be judge or something, I thought i was the only one not enjoying the show, glad i found people who aren’t afraid to say it out loud

Peter Mensah could work as well. He's very similar to Lance Riddick acting wise and is even physically bigger.

i feel the same. even if the audience is young, they’re just young not stupid. the last thing you wanna do is treat kids like they’re incapable of following along. PJO is not a difficult series for a kid to follow.

The show gave us nothing. I think fans who likes it are just happy to see a "better" adaption then movies. When it's really not. I didn't read the book so I can see how much they haven't filled in. Literally from comments I found out Sally lived with Gabe bcs of Percy. They never tells this the show and it's very wierd bcs Sally in show is boss of the house and still loves Poseidon so what force her to live with Gabe? Bcs the lightning bolt was stolen there wouldn't be any light only thunder. Furthermore, the weather would get worse bcs of growing tension among the gods. But again the show never depicts this! Which really affect the whole narrative bcs as the tension is gone. Also they never show the war or what happens when the deadline has passed. Medusa says she is survior but also she says it was consensual with Poseidon.. then what she is survivor of? Percy missing out the deadline when it's first quest and he is supposed to be the Greek Hero . Devalues his character and not to say how he doesn't care there's a war. There's so much more. The show cut key points and gives barebone plotline and characters. No suspense and tension and above that downgrade treatment of Percy. The show is bad.

Depends highly on directors and how involved they are on their acting because kids can be really weird to train but when the right person is put in charge the results speak for itself

Umm....what? Believe it or not. There was a time and probably still is when there was indeed the negative stereotyped of blonde women, specifically, were seen as dumb and blonde. That's it. There weren't many blonde women characters that went beyond the stereotype or be a flesh out character with something to give and that includes any kind of narrative aspects. Also doesn't help with people who have gray eyes, an uncommon color, actually. And in a way, Annabeth was that kind of character, in a surface kind of a way yes, for those people, girls and women in that time and something for them to be feel good about themselves, for that generation. Same for POC characters who are given these negative stereotypes. But nowadays, with the industry and creative people in general are writing stories for other people, is now possible for any characters to be flesh out and be seen more than just those negative stereotypes. All characters should be view more than just the surface. I find it rather backwards or just weird to think that oh it's okay to switch so and so and how it doesn't matter to the narrative and making adjustments. But yet, when it's done the other way, all the sudden, narrative speaking matters...? It really depends on what kind of a story someone is telling. Depends on the narrative itself and when its making these adjustments are going to make any of the characters any different. If the characters don't change much, no issue, anyone can play this character and that one. However, yes, if a narrative is very specific of an over arc main story point or something of importance, then yes, people have to appropriately cast someone for this certain story and so forth. And that goes for everyone. In PJ case in general, yeah, doesn't matter who plays any of these characters. And with Percy, Annabeth, and Grover, oh yeah anyone could have played them. And how a group of people and kids can too feel good about themselves through these fictional characters and for the new generation. But I also hope people actually like the characters and the stories they're given. That is what should matter the most when anyone creates a story. So I don't understand your example of the police thing (yes it happens in real life and it's real horror ordeal to go through). Like the other person said....it didn't happened...?

Imagine that, if you ignore all the surrounding context and phrase the plot in the worst way possible it sounds asinine. They were wanted fugitives, so couldn't travel in any sort of public space without the police getting involved. Furthermore, they were running very short on time, and couldn't make the final leg of their Journey without the help of Ares. They couldn't help Ares without getting the shield back, they couldn't get the shield back without sitting in the chair. So it was either they sit in the chair, or they fail the quest. Just because it's a seemingly innocuous thing to make a sacrifice over, it was very necessary to the journey.

@TBP I understand they don't have much time. The problem is that it doesn't feel like that. There is no urgency. Instead of running away from danger (Echidna), they're walking. Instead of seeing storms, etc, everything seems to be normal. Hell, even after they miss their deadline, nothing happens, no WW3, nothing more serious, not even more storms, hurricanes, or what ever. Even in the movies, they showed it. So why even bother? The deadline had no impact, no consequences. The sacrifice feels like nothing serious, but only one thing: ridiculous

If you like myths then i would watch the show if your sick or something like that. It is a light fun show. Since it is made for kids, it´s not as complex or dark as some other stuff. And I love the books: A fun interpretation of greek gods. If your able to see the show as a slightly different version of the books, you´ll probaly be able to enjoy both: the show and the books. Since the episodes are so short, you´´ll be able to watch the whole season on a weekend or so.

@@florence_black It is a adaptation, so i already expect changes and that the show is diff. I wonder which version you find better, the show or the books. Or see them as equal.

@@PureMaddnessOne I honestly see them as equally entertaining versions of the story for different reasons. I like some of the tension in the book better and it can spend more time on some topics and has some scenes i would want in the show, but I actuallly like the characters and themes in the show very much and sometimes more than in the books (I may like show Percy/Annabeths-relationship and Grovers character even more in the show.) I also like that the characters are smarter in the show. On the other hand I think the gods should be more godly and I wished they would've kept some of the small details (they only kept some of them).

Okay, but that still doesn't disprove my point. If a character's race is not absolutely a vital part of their characterization, why don't we just pick the actor who best embodies the personality you're looking for? You're arbitrarily limiting yourself in that case. Like I said, Walker doesn't look much like percy, but he captured the character perfectly. Why is that any different? Removing any sort of argument about political correctness, or anti-political correctness, I'm just advocating for picking the best actor And to your second point, I'm going to say what I said on Twitter ages ago. In Greek mythology, Zeus took the form of, among other things, an eagle, a shower of gold, flames, a bull, a swan, a goose, I could go on. Clearly he can take whatever form he wants, this is just a form he chooses.

@@TBP I wasn’t trying to disprove your point. I was just stating my argument because at the end of the day she’ll be thrown on the pile of characters race swapped for pandering. I personally think she’s a good actress. I just think there should be more original minority characters that are great from the get go and not changing already established great characters. I admit defeat on the second part, if I could turn into Lance Reddick I would too.

@@TBP You are correct. Choose the best actor for the role if race or gender swapping will in no way compromise the story. The problem is Disney wanting to have it both ways and manipulating people to believe the are benevolent with their justifications for such swapping or not swapping. Disney casting demanded an all Asian cast for Mulan to honor its culture. Why not do the same for Greek culture? I don't ever recall a black Zeus. It's not a huge deal, but I agree with @genitalwarthunder8784, seems like pandering, or forced and wrong. Show was a 5/10 if you read the books. Maybe I'm too harsh a critic, but I feel like it's another lost opportunity to do something great. It felt rushed and underfunded. I actually think a shot for shot recreation of the books could be and ought to be done if you're a true fan of the source material. Sure some people love alterations but I think most fans love the original source exactly how it is. I'll give DreamWorks credit for How to Train Your Dragon, it was great, but I would still have preferred the original story. FF7 remake is the same. Maybe I'm just sour grapes because I feel the opportunity to recreate the sources, in all their original glory with complete detail, is gone.

I already said, Zeus has been well-established within mythology to have the power to shapeshift into whatever he wishes. Including a shower of gold, flames, a sparrow, and a cow. Why is it that him choosing the form of a black man is so out of the question?
