In this video, we install a Ford Transit Rear Door Platform from Flatline Van Co, as well as an aluminum cargo and storage box on the back of the van.
We wanted somewhere to store our gear like shore power cords, ground deploy solar wire, MaxTrax, a shovel, etc. and this platform and box combination is the perfect solution.

Is the frame and box steel? I hope that it has a good coating! Otherwise it will rust away 🫣 For this kind of storage I have a stainless steel truck box. It was 400 euro and 40x40cm and 80cm wide (16x16x32 inch) It is my "garage" and is packed completely full 😁

Both the box and plate/frame is aluminum w/ stainless hardware, so we are good to go w/ rusting.

In regards to adding a rubber stopper so box doesn't hit on opening, I saw some of these that limit the opening distance via a stopper mounted in the hinges. Not sure if thats available to add or if specific to the rack. Thats what I would add or look for in selecting a specific rack.

Lot of weight hanging of the hinges. Wouldn't put that heavy stuff there.

@@EXPLORISTlife seen enough complaints in Van groups on them, with guys doing this. More than a ladder is not where they are made for. They sag or pinch in a given time.

Van groups are definitely where people like to complain gather. The people who DON'T have issues are usually pretty quiet about it. But yeah... ultimately, I'm not trying to pass any kind of weird laws requiring everybody to get one of these. If you don't think the hinges on your van are strong enough... don't get one. It doesn't make me much difference what you do in your own build. We are just sharing what we did.

if you have a panel too overkill to charge 1 battery, can you parallel 2 smaller charge controllers to charge 2 different size batteries at the same time off 1 high wattage panel ?

@@mattlewis383 Maybe you are new to the vehicle modification game, but the pricing is on par with any other exterior modification found on vehicles. Bumpers, running boards, toppers, roof racks, brush guards, tonneau covers and pretty much any other metal modification you bolt to the outside of a truck, van, or car is going to be over a grand.
