This is a very interesting kit. I have often thought about using watercolors to do a grey scale wash and see how it affects my values vs with no underpainting.

That's an interesting idea! I haven't really tried to do a greyscale underpainting for coloured pencil/pastel but I my try it in the future 😊

Thank you for reviewing this. I saw a lot advertised recently and had no idea what they were. Interesting concept. Stonehenge is a printmaking paper but is popular among colored pencil artists, which makes sense why it works perfect for this. I used to work on Stonehenge a lot, but have switched to using a hot press watercolor paper.

You're welcome 😊 It is quite a popular paper but I generally prefer papers with a bit more tooth so I can get more layers (like hot pressed watercolour paper or Clairefontaine Pastelmat)

this looks much easier to color than completely making your own drawing! also, im gonna be honest: before i watched this video, i saw the top comment and was honestly kind of confused why it was talking about “Stonehenge” 😂

The kits look great, but postage to AU is too high for me. I was going to order 2 kits which is 50 dollars, and it cost another 40 dollars on top for postage. considering the kits are really rather lightweight i think that's way too much.

Yeah it's always like that with things delivered to Australia, unfortunately! Sometimes it's the size of the box that puts up the postage price as well I know how annoying it is, especially considering we don't have a lot of art supplies here that the US has easy access too!

I few years ago when I got interested in art I bought a couple of adult colouring books because I saw what people did with them and I was amazed and I wanted to try too. I then discovered that I hate them. Not knowing which colors to choose, the combinations and what goes well with what and mi lack of imagination made me hate them. I wish every coloring book had it's own reference photo I do love painting but painting has always a reference so I don't have to struggle with my sense of "fashion"

Yes, that seems to be a problem for a lot of people! They just want to get stuck in and not worry about colour choices 😊 These kits would be a good alternative for you! Another option is to try out Patreon! There are plenty of people on Patreon (like myself) who provide reference photos, traceable outlines, colour names etc to use for your projects 😊 www.kirstyrebeccafineart.com/patreon-longer-in-depth-tutorials

Learning to use a colour wheel is really helpful and like looking on Pinterest and RU-vid for inspiration. For me I liked colouring flowers so used images of real flowers for reference.I was exact same as you but I really enjoy it now. Not using too many pencils is helpful too. I bought a set of 120 and realised like 6-10 pencils can be more than enough and using lighter/harder pressuring and layering.
