Israeli hummus ??? Israeli baba ganouch??? Israeli pita??? Since when ???
@maxmalkiel7833
@maxmalkiel7833 Год назад
Hummus since the Bible (mentioned in Ruth), baba ghanuj I'm not sure because badinjan is an Indian word and I don't know when aubergines arrived in the region. Pita and the types of ovens it's made in is described in detail in the Mishnah numerous times. But that's not the point. The point is the more you guys write these comments the more money I make from this video. And this is how the whole middle east "conflict" works. You throw bombs and stones and Israel becomes richer.

since when pita bread is israeli ? it's purely Arabic bread , or is israel an Arab country now ???
@maxmalkiel7833
@maxmalkiel7833 Год назад
Thank you for your question! Pita bread is mentioned in the Bible (for example Ruth 2:14 "wa tabalt pittek bhomes" - "dip yo ur pitta bread in vinegar". Also in the Mishnah pitta bread and types of ovens used to bake it are discussed numerous times. Not that it is of any importance for me, but since you asked: pitta bread is Israeli since at least 2500 years ago. Today the majority of Israelis are ethnic Arabs (both Jewish and if other religions: Durz, Muslim, Christian). Arabic is one of the two official languages. So you can say yes, it is an Arabic country

this result gives a very thick bottom and very thin crusty top. i prefer a more balanced pita, no sugar, no baking powder. i use 72% hydration, only a tiny pinch of yeast and long, cool fermentation (12-16hrs depending on temp). in a home oven it's better to use a heavy steel or baking stone. thumbs up for doing your own thing

Indeed. From my experience most breads around the world are the same basic dough: flour water sugar salt and yeast with the average relative amounts and temperatures. What differs is the process of kneeding , resting and baking( sometimes) and how the dough is formed into its final shapes and decorations.
@shuttlefeather
@shuttlefeather 4 года назад
@@turquoiseheart6320 You forgot to say the most important thing: the water content. If it is a soft dough or a firm dough. To puff up, the dough needs to be soft.

i have just tried this trick with the oven and the upside down baking pan and it works just fine. 4-5 minutes of baking and all done. i put some butter or oil with spices right out of the oven so the upper thin layer stays soft longer, and i also add a bit of pepper and red pepper in the dough to add some flavor. cool recipe!!

Im so excited that I found your video!! Ive been making bread and using my mothers recipe that she shared with me may years ago and this is the first one that uses the exact same ingredients! Everything is pretty much done the same way with the exception of resting times. I let the dough raise for the 2 hrs but this is where I think I like your way better ! (sorry Mum!) After I roll into balls she had the resting time (covered again) 1hr 45 minutes (sometimes 2 hrs), then after rolling with the rolling pin, cover and raise for another 2 hrs.. Needless to say your way is soo much quicker! (however when my kids were younger and I needed to pick them up from school, or run errands, I had time in between raising time! So, today I am waiting for the first raising and will try it your way. Wish me luck.. Also, when I look up recipes for Syrian bread (which is what my mother is) they only have the flat pita which she never made! Thanks so much for sharing!

@NoHandle2000 11 месяцев назад
2 Major mistakes 1- you did not let them rest after shaping, this increases the chances of holes when puffing in the oven 2- more important, you didn’t flip them in the oven, your oven was not evenly heated (bottom heat less than top heat) so they became lob sided. You can either flip them half way, or place them on a cast iron or pizza stones that’s been heating with the oven for 30 min or more

This type of bread is mentioned in literature preceding the time when Levant became Arabic by many hundreds of years. Second, Israel is an Arab majority country (vast majority of Israelis are Arabs). You cannot steal from yourself

Genetically, the semitic people are all related, no? It's like the difference between the Anglo Saxons and the Germanic people generally. You're basically the same people.

Hi, Do you think it was this kind of bred that Jesus multiplied ? (Bible Matthew 14:17). Thanks. Second question: what kind of fish it was ?
@maxmalkiel7833
@maxmalkiel7833 2 года назад
For sure it was something similar. As for fish I guess it must have been something from the Sea of Galilee (the Kinnereth). Try to Google what is the common fish there 🙂

I would say probably the Tilapia - in hebrew Amnon or Musht (means comb in arabic, because of their tail). Its most likely since its a very popular fish in the region and you can find lots of it in the sea of Galilee and the Jordan river. If you ever come to Israel you'll probably get to eat some since its popular and not expensive. When i was younger living in Israel our Yemenite neighbor used to make great but highly spicy Musht just to compete with my dad on who can handle more spice.
