Chuck berry I saw an episode of Australian story. They were interviewing an American airman that stayed in Australia with his Australian bride after ww2. His father inlaw asked him how work was going? He said No good. I don't think they like me, because they're always making fun of me. He said His father inlaw laughed and said "Don't worry. If they didn't like you, they wouldn't have anything to do with you". Sort of sums up Australians nicely.
They did it to him, because he had a great sence of humour and he could take it. He's actually fairly well respected amongst the rugby league community.
