The silk fabric is beautiful, I think it would be stunning made in the Trina Blouse or the Array top /dress. Looking forward to seeing what you decide to make x
Oh what beautiful fabric! The colour suits you so well. I do like the Reeta shirt dress. I have been eying this pattern for a while now but I am not slim like the model!! It would be fabulous in that fabric. Like you, I don't like the drawstring tie. I'd certainly do omething different. The first dress made me smile. When I was younger those weren't dresses! They were petticoats or nightdresses! Nobody went braless! I worry about the bias cut. I don't think it would show off the drape of the fabric. That blouse (Coelo?) always makes me wonder what to do if there is a sudden gust of wind! As before, tops like this were for a completely different purpose i.e. maternity! All lovely patterns but the Reeta dress gets my thumbs up.
Who knew there were so many great options for silk! Really enjoyed your video, Mel. I'm definitely leaning towards the Array Dress from Papercut Patterns. The sleeves would be incredible in that fabric!
Hi, The silk Liberty is gorgeous. I love the By Hand London Anna Dress and also the Victory Trina dress and top. The PJ's are nice but not for the silk. The silk is too beautiful to make those in. I cant wait to see what you decide to make. Lovely blog. Thank you xx
I look forward to seeing what you make and learning how you handle sewing with silk.I have some beautiful silk and to be honest I am afraid of it.I think that the bodice of the Anna dress would really suit you. I have just bought the Anna dress pattern ,now available in print, having seen some truly stunning versions of it.I know that whatever you decide you will work your magic on it🌹🌹🌹
I just knew it was liberty as soon as I saw it. My goal is to become a good enough sewists to make myself a dress from liberty lawn or maybe a liberty silk. This video is very helpful to me as I learn to match fabrics to patterns. I can't wait to see what you ultimately end up making with that beautiful liberty silk.
The fabric is beautiful! You have chosen a lot of great patterns too. Gosh I can't believe your oldest daughter is in college already and it sounds like she is a sewist too.
The fabric is too beautiful to wear as pyjamas.I love the byhandlondon anna dress or the slip bias cut dress. If you make the slip dress you may have enough fabric to make a bolero,I'm thinking of a cape style which would then look like butterfly sleeves
If you made the Maya Cami dress, you could probably make the Cami top as well. Also the dress could be layered over a turtle neck. You might also like the Petaluma dress by Itch to Stitch. It has cup sizes!
I would plump for the Reeta dress it would be stunning at showing off the fabrication could easily be made without a draw string but a self or contrasting fabric belt
Gorgeous fabrics. Don’t waste on the blouse. Array dress will be stunning on you. Gosh! You don’t look old enough to have a daughter at Uni! Good luck.
The fabric is beautiful but having looked at it a few times the pattern looks one directional to me, this means you will need a bit more for matching at the sides etc.
That’s a hard choice. I feel the PJ’s would be a waste of silk! I like the Pauline Alice blouse or the paper cut patterns second one. Not keen on the bias cut. Diana
Thanks Diana, one thing I’ve thought of with the pjs is I could make the Helen’s closet blouse with the shorts, that way I could wear as both pj and normal top. That said I may be leaning more towards a dress x
