The perfect shot thing never made sense playing basketball in high school I seen guys who knew how to shoot an knew when to shoot with weird releases

It's such an interesting topic isn't it. I personally believe through enough repetition people with a poor shooting technique will make a lot of buckets, BUT with a poor shooting form, the ceiling is only so high. If you develop a good technique (can still be unique) then add repetition, thats what leads to being a high percentage shooter. A good example of this was Lonzo Ball. Shot well in HS with a weird action. Came to the NBA and his technique was exposed. He worked on it and developed a good technique, lost a few of his bad habits and his numbers went up drastically.

@@Mattomeo15 I feel like we’re mostly agreeing but with lonzo and many others the shot would most likely still work in wide open situations but those are much harder to come by as the level of competition raises. So the form itself objectively works but it requires more to get off. I think free throws have less variables and an are better sign of good form and how switching to a better from doesn’t always equal more success.

Exactement. J'ai 73 ans. J'ai fait 19 ans de basket, de 1956 à 1975, en compétition officielle, en France, au niveau régional. Les 10 premières années j'avais un niveau de jeu très moyen et surtout j'étais très maladroit ( genre 10% de réussite à l'entraînement et 1% en match). Et puis un jour à l'entraînement, j'avais 16 ans , j'essaye un nouveau tir : au lieu de lancer le ballon à hauteur de mon épaule je le lance à hauteur du crâne. C'est comme si j'avais gagné au loto ! Je suis devenu brusquement adroit ! Ce tir était parfaitement adapté à ma morphologie ! J'ai alors travaillé mon nouveau tir, surtout à distance, au moins 2 heures par jour pendant des semaines. Et je suis arrivé à une moyenne de 15 à 20 points par match ( sachant que les paniers à 3 points n'existaient pas). Moi qui n'étais auparavant que remplaçant j'étais devenu titulaire du 5 de départ. C'est une belle histoire qui m'est arrivée dans ma jeunesse.

@@JoeSpicy123 how is it going for you with the Larry bird form?. For me when I shoot it,it doesn’t really go in and goes over the back board sometimes and I thought I was using too much power but I think i gotta have a lot of more arc on my shot and extend my arms

@@xwock1610 seems like it was a one day thing for me lol, although I still like the feeling of it. Might try that shot again but I just feel like I lose a lot of power. I shot it once today and cashed it so who knows. If you can get good with it tho I think it can be deadly.

He’s probably using the great three-point shooters as an example. The guys you referenced are great mid-range scorers and their set-points are high, and they shoot at the apex of their shot (2 motion shot) to prevent contests since their shots are heavily contested in the mid-range. Still good shooters, but the guys in the video are the all-around shooters.
