the key point is, SF treat [down forward] as forward or backward input as well. same to [down back] so the trick is half circle motion can start with [down forward] or [down back] DP can start with [down forward] fireball start with [down back]
The Z command for DP for sure is a tricky move for those who are not used to it. This has been my nightmare for months, but now I'm finally getting used to with SF6. The fact you have to do everything faster to cancel animations doesn't help lmao.
I actually dont use it. I use the Victrix BFG pro. I didnt like the Hori DPad much but it isnt a bad controller. Everyone has different tastes. It just wasnt for me
This helps a lot!! I’ve been mashing the face buttons and the dpad trying to get a beginner combo and spent an hour trying! Didn’t know that the game register’s different
Pal loved your vid I'm a bit late to the game but I wanted more people to be realeased before I got it, this might be a stupid question but have you got negative edge on or off. Stay safe and well pal from🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪👏👏👌💯
@@Gamingwithgleez thanks pal for the feedback I've been doing combo trials with Ken but I'm finding it hard and again you might think what a clown but I couldn't do crouching punch into quarter circle tatsu with my d pad, I play all fighting games with the d pad and I thought it might have something to do with negative edge. Hence the question, pal as I said thank you for your help and pal stay well and healthy.
Damn thank you for putting this up ! I'm a casual SF player and I never understood why I had so much trouble linking specials exactly how i wanted, always a fireball coming instead of a DP or a DP not going when needed, even though I can do every specials at will when just standing. I need to work on this.
Hello, I have the same controller. What do you use for your mapped buttons like r1/r2? Never played a 6 button fighter and not sure how to optimally map buttons with this controller
Im having trouble learning these terms that people use in videos does anyone know if theres a video that explains them. Terms like DP or 623 or something. Street fighter 6 is my first fighting game so i feel so lost sometimes in most videos on the game.
So DP is short for dragon punch. These are usually moves that are antiairs that are invincible when you Over Drive them. Think Ryu and ken uppercut, Cammy cannon spike ect. The Numbers you speak of reference directional inputs. If you look at a number pad on a keyboard it will make some sense. Holding Down+left is 1. Straight down is 2. Down+right is 3 ... and so on. I hope that helps. Here is more info on it if you want to read up on it: fighting-game-collectors.fandom.com/wiki/Numpad_notation Thanks for watching and commenting. Any questions just let me know.
Haha. Stick is cool too though. I started playing fighting games on a stick in the arcade just because I am old. I think you can do similar things on stick but it probably is a bit different.
Thanks for the tip! Do you think this shortcut can work for down-down inputs? I'm not sure if the game recognizes down-forward or down-back as one down motion.
@@Gamingwithgleez just found it, I’m definitely picking it up. It looks like it solves all the issues I have with the ps5 controller, rounded dpad, larger matte-finished face buttons, and it’s a 6 button. W.
Great video! As someone who has played fighting games all her life but never gotten into the more advanced stuff, I want to. I understand basic concepts like neutral, (dis)advantage, spacing, etc. I'm never going to be one to count frames but can understand "(un)safe on block" and so on. Where is the best place to learn the more advanced things?
@@Gamingwithgleez So does yours! I appreciate you and enjoy your content. If you ever need a beginner to battle with and see if we can both improve, please let me know! :)
Just subbed, I'm nearly going to give up on sf6... Playing mk all my life... Theres an input for one of luke's combos it's ⬇️↘️➡️👊 into ➡️⬇️↘️r1 👊👊 I think..get the first part easy, if you could just circle back it would be OK but maaaan .. I just can't do, so frustrating...
I'm loving the game and it's mechanics but I'm finding the inputs/timing to be finicky and unforgiving (playing on fight stick) especially compared to Guilty Gear Strive. I have to aim my stick at the 7 or 9 positions to get my DP to come out instead of a fireball. Canceling out of certain moves feels impossible. Trying to drive rush cancel off of Cammy's 2MK is drivng me nuts.
Definitely got a new sub.. This is Gold!!! Especially to all the new comers who’s playing on pad. If you can make a vid on crouching mk drive rush that would be dope. I can’t get it to come out clean unless I’m mashing 😵💫
Thank you!! I actually have a drive rush video coming out later today. When you land crouching mk just hit forward twice and he should drive rush. You don't need to press the parry buttons. You may already know that but a few people I talked to didn't so I figured I would bring it up. If the video that is scheduled to be posted later doesn't help with your issues, just let me know. Thanks again!
What's annoying me is the fact that ultimates are no longer all 3 kicks or all 3 punches, cause I end up doing the second thing you said. I hate using my Level 3 when I'm just trying to dp.
@@Gamingwithgleezone more question (and I appreciate your first response): I have been have trouble going into tatsu out of low light attacks, any suggestions. You got my like and sub!
@@michaelcarrig627 thanks! If I know I am going to cancel into tatsu, I usually hold down/forward and cancel from there. When I hold straight down, it doesnt seem to come out as cleanly. Hope that helps!
@@Gamingwithgleez awesome dude already working. I am still working on the buffering in this game. Having a lot of trouble with special cancels but this helped a lot. I am a MK/GG player btw.
@@michaelcarrig627 ohh nice. MK is my number 1 game. I just hope I get a code for the stress test. I'm glad the inputs are working for you! Keep at it.
I use the same controller as you. How do you do Shoryuken into double quarter circle I know the DP should count as a quarter circle forward I just need the supers instant because I play Ken Any input helps
Are there any tips on how to get DP as fast as possible under classic controls when trying to do it with Ken's quick dash? It's driving me nuts lol. I can't combo with that move in a juggle unless using modern controls.
Transitioning from stick to pad and I find pad a nightmare.... every issue you mention I have had and every time I wanted to throw the pad out the window! Now I might keep it around abit longer :D The wife can now sleep without the arcade stick noise.
I really liked the video but not going to lie, it would have helped to have the virtual pad on the screen, just so we can see what the inputs look like vs the motions. Maybe something to keep in mind for V2
I remember SF4 had shortcuts for the dragon punch, instead of doing the “Z” motion all you had to do was the “down towards” motion twice. Was hoping capcom would put this in SF6 for the newcomers and the returning vets, maybe in a later update.
@@codybrown5229 Oh for real, I didn’t know that…..thanks. I had no idea the shortcuts were in the game, probably because i was doing the motion down towards twice from memory unknowingly and nothing happened, when I get online in a few minutes gonna go to training mode and try it out on my fight stick. 😎✌🏾👊🏾💪🏿🥋
This video is a godsend. I just started playing SF because of everybody saying how good 6 is. I've been trying to play the older ones first but having trouble getting my moves to come out. Great video man.
1:18 Previously in SFV, I would do down-forward, back, forward + punch/kick. This way seems way more consistent in SF6. It’s also great for Ken’s trials. 🙌
As a long time mortal kombat player I was like "wow, these street fighter combos dont fuck around. Doing almost any special from crouching is so damn hard" ... then I learned about the buffering in this game and I dont know how to feel about it. On 1 hand it allows for things like crouching kicks to lead to QCF-punch and kick specials but on the other hand the way you do it ISNT THE FUCKING IMPUT
Great video mate, not many people do theses where you explain the hand movements and timings, very helpful ....also is that your main pad of choice, I havexthexraion but thinking of getting this one too
Thank you! The pad in the video is the Hori Octa. It is okay.. not my favorite. I like the Hori Fight Commander 3 the most. That pad isn't compatible with PS5 tho. I bought this because it is the only 6 button pad that works on PS5. The pad overall is good but I dont like how close the analog is to the dpad. I feel my thumb touch it sometimes and its annoying. Otherwise it is pretty good tho.
Your first tutorial is teaching wrong shortcuts. Why would you roll down from forward to down to get a DP from a crouching strong? Start at down-forward, press strong punch, then roll from down-forward to down, back to down-forward, then hit whatever punch button you want for the dp.
