I wanna cry so much. If you were a kid in the 80's like I was, then you know all these shows hit home. Out of all the 80's sitcoms, which I love all dearly, this was my absolute favorite one. Looking back on it now as an adult, I appreciate it on whole new level. They were so freaking talented. Amazing chemistry and talent.
I watched this since I was little when I was down the show cheered me up This is my favorite sitcom ever Thank you perfect strangers you guys were awesome
The episode where they went to the gym the day before their double dates and got so sore they could hardly move, but then got into a fight and tried to chase each other around their apartment, made me laugh so hard my muscles ached.
Don't cry. It's all part of life's rich tapestry. Here's a little motto I've always remembered to help me get through the tough times life throws at you. Maybe it can help you too. #1: When you're rolling out the dough, just make sure you roll it slow. #2: If you make the dough too quick, then the perils of life can make you sick. #3: When you put the filling in, just make sure you wear a grin. #4: When you smile at what you have, then your life will turn out swell.
it was simple times, only bc we were kids. I miss this line up. my cousin and I always tooked forward to this. going to the corner store, getting snacks, and watching these cheesey shows.
***** Good observation Jack, I mean that. However Perfect strangers was part of the TGIF line-up. TGIF started in 89' while the final episode date of Perfect Strangers was in 93.
It was one of the shows that kickstarted TGIF, the other notable show at the time being Full House and then the Perfect Strangers spinoff, Family Matters. By that point, it had been on for a few seasons. It had a brief stint as a key show for I Love Saturday Night, but both it and the entire block quickly faded, before it moved back to Fridays for the last few episodes of its run. Then Step by Step, Boy Meets World, and Sabrina took over, and TGIF was still awesome. And then... thud. I appreciate ABC's attempts at a TGIF revival of sorts, but everything other than Last Man Standing is falling flat. It's been nice to see some attempts to revive the old shows again as well, with Girl Meets World and the upcoming Fuller House.
As a recovering alcoholic, this song truly speaks to me. Seen some dark times in my life, which drove me to drink for 10 years, but I'm 7 months sober now =)
Damn. I cant believe this came out in 86. I was born in 81. Never was a huge fan, but who doesn't remember this? The nostalgia is deeply felt. I so miss the 80s and early 90s. Even shows you never really got into you watched to some extent.
I come back to this when I am brave enough to face the nostalgia. This whole theme song means so much to me. I absolutely adored this show as a kid. I would love so much to see it again
It's Friday NIGHT (do do dooo do) And the mood is RIGHT (dooo do) We're gonna have some FUN, show you how it's DONE : TGIF..... MAN I miss being a kid. This, family matters, full house, Mr Belvedere, dinosaurs, look who's talking, step by step... I'm about to cry. We all need to have a global 80s party.
Edward Gaines seriously? Perfect Strangers was hilarious. Balki and Larry's slapstick antics, Balki's humorous misinterpretations of the English language and American customs, Larry's schemes and the wacky hijinks that ensued...I mean, come on! This show was perfect late 80's saccharine sitcom goodness!
One thing you gotta say about Miller-Boyette productions of the 80s & 90s: they could make an opening song that made you HAPPY the show was on, Boy! this is one of my fave. A lot of hope, but some really funny buddy visuals... WIN
+Sheels1976 Little did he know that years later he'd be scaring washed up female has-beens on the Surreal Life with his creepiness. Poor Balki. The eighties looked so bright...
Wow!! Just had a flashback laying on the living room floor watching this television show. I often drive by my childhood home, and smile as I am now hearing this intro song. How did we go from perfect strangers to the kardashians?
Fawk tha Kardashians. Have you seen what they did to William Bruce Jenner. All that fakness got to Bruce. he need to be back in the spotlight like in the 80's. Proof the Kardashians are clearly in the brain washing game
Hate the Kardashians. They're fully to blame for this vocal fry pandemic the youth are afflicted with today. Miss the way people would actually use their voices before the kartrashian era.
Yes mam I was in front of the tv at 7:30 pm to get a good spot in front of the tv before my brother and my cousin who lived with us would try to beat me to it. TGIF man o man those were the days.
I'll always remember being so tiny, playing with my baby sister and this in the background. This show, Moonlighting, Family Ties, Facts of Life, Punky Brewster, sliver Spoons. I miss those days, I miss my daddy.
"This track is composed of memories, joyous childhood days and dreams." O'how some songs transcend you to back in time. Who says we can't go back in time?
@@craftistic82 ok so it was the 90's and not the 80's???? I know I use to watch it as a little girl but never thought it was the 80's. Oh how I WISH the world today was still like living in the 80's and 90's. So what if there was no cell phones or maybe they weren't used as much, but live was so much simpler and safer.
Mannnn, we had Perfect Strangers, Growing Pains, Family Ties, Who's The Boss, Family Matters, Hanging with Mr. Cooper, Boy Meets World, Full House, The Facts of Life, Kenan and Kel, Rugrats, All That, Ren and Stimpy etc. Talk about growing up as a kid with pure awesomeness!
Its very powerful music. It moves you emotionally. I nearly cried with happyness when I herd this. Its been 20 od years but still remembered some of the words. Now im gona listen to it again on the loudest setting and sing it at the top of my voice!!!!!
It seems like they forgot about people's souls in the modern world. Simple things like decency and real feeling in sitcoms. Amazing how even a theme song can give you a warm feeling where nothing produced today in 1000 channels can.
Marcus Johnson, Sr. Who even watches TV nowadays? It's either torrents or paid services like Netflix etc. Or just simply RU-vid. The TV has died many years ago, let it rest in peace.
It was so different back then so much family value shows...really didnt know that l was going to miss the 80s and early 90s. Love growing up watching this show. Brought tears to my eyes just just just.....I CANT TALK ABOUT IT ANYMORE!!!!!!! OO God WAY I HAD TO GROW UP! !!!!
This show, Family Matters, Boy Meets World, Growing Pains, Family Ties, The Cosby Show, Who's The Boss etc. really great family sitcoms with heart were at the heart of every 80s\90s child's universe.
Such a wonderful show. I'm 38 and feel blessed to have lived through two great decades of TV in the 1980s and 1990s. Family values and life lessons were a priority and morals were taught on TV. Nowadays it's the total opposite with the Kartrashians and the like on TV. Thankfully there are still a few good quality shows but nothing will ever compare to what we had years ago.
"Perfect Strangers" theme song is the soundtrack of my life right now!!!! Im applying to Nursing Programs for next year, 2020☺ Nursing students sacrifice so much!!
We all feel the same way. I think its because theres been such a huge cultural shift. These kinds of positive sitcoms just dont exist anymore. Basically any naivety and kindness in society has been steamrolled. Im assuming you were a kid in the 80s too.
552mustang Man, I feel like crap now that I had to think about what you said :( So sad. Long live the 80's. Imagine seeing this in another 30 years when we're all in our 60's.
The funny thing is, everyone wants those times back, but we STILL have the same technology available and could still have the same shit, if we wanted to bring it back, but because of today's kids being into such garbage and spending money on shit, no one will bring back outdated things. But we have the power to do so. It's there.
***** Perfect Strangers - Before Family Matters, Harriette Winslow was originally the elevator operator at the Chicago Chronicle newspaper office in the third and fourth seasons of Perfect Strangers. Family Matters was a spin-off series given to this character in 1989. In the second episode of Family Matters, Harriette was fired as elevator operator at the Chronicle, but was soon re-hired as "Chief of Security," which explained her absence from dealings with the Perfect Strangers cast. I am so happy that I found this show on Hulu. Such great memories or simple life when all I worried about was elementary homework, recess and what friend I was having a sleep over with. As soon as this theme played for me, I sang along. Felt instant happiness.
1987. TGIF. Domino’s pizza delivery. Settle in for a night of appointment watched shows. Everyone in America is watching at the same time. Seeing the same commercials. We were such a united society back then. Fewer options made us happier and more in touch with our communities.
I haven't seen this show since I was like 8, and all of a sudden the intro popped into my head while I was mowing the lawn.. wtf. I had to find out which show it was, and here I am.
Just heard the song on leftovers and sang along remembering ervery word of it... Had to see what show it was from... Great memoriies... 80s were the best.. Funny how you cant remember what you did yesterday but you still know every word of the 80s songs...
Perfect strangers....God, I loved this show. Balki Bartokomus had me in stitches!!!!! 80s era was and still is there BEST!!!!! Thanks RU-vid, you're always my go to....
I am 47 now and how I miss those days. I always liked this intro theme song, always made me feel good at the time, made me feel safe in some strange way. Those TGIF night line up was always awesome. One great show after another. This is one of those theme songs like Cheers or Greatest American Hero that just makes you feel right. Still love listening to it. They don't make shows like this anymore. Man, miss those days!
Great show! Really a shame that they still haven't gotten this CLASSIC show to DVD/BluRay. One of the best shows from the 80s/90s. Comedy gold with this duo. A type of comedy that you really don't see much these days on TV. These two had great chemistry together.
@@smc1942 they are still hard to find new at retail price. Looks like scalpers online have them marked up quite a bit. Most of the episodes are available on Hulu though. Either way it took them long enough
Ryo Amora agreed. Ive relied on dvd box sets, movies, and streaming services over normal broadcasting. Far too many commercials and definitely too much reality garbage thats scripted anyways. Its about as fake as professional wrestling.
Mark Lin-Baker! Raise your glasses boys! One of the best straightman comedy acts of the 1980s. I grew up with his intolerance. This man prepared me for the bullshit of life. And there is no Balki to make shit easier. God bless this man his family and legacy. We love you Mark!
The lyrics have so much meaning. For those with tears in our eyes as we listen and fully understand the meaning as adults as opposed to only hearing the melody when we were kids, it is a bold reminder with clarity.
I always watched this show when I was little, but now looking at it as an adult, I never realized what geniuses of physical comedy these guys were. You can tell just by how well they play off each other and how in sync their movements are.
I've been listening to a number of 80's shows themes (Perfect Strangers, Head of the Class, Fall Guy, etc.) and what really strikes me is how hopeful and happy the theme songs were. You just don't get that today, more proof that the 80's was truly the best decade EVER!
The 80s and early 90s sitcoms were the best and had the best theme songs loved perfect strangers, cheers, the golden girls, growing pains, family ties, who's the boss?, they don't make shows like that anymore.
This theme song was my favorite as a child. The show was called "Out of the World." ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bMu_l_0BgYs.htmlsi=f6UpiKF4rROmACod
I just loved this series... I was so young...My childhood/boyhood comes alive...i watched it on early 90's..i am 29 years old man but still loves 90's days...this was my favourite serial...
Because that actually takes creativity and people are lacking that aspect nowadays. And catchy theme songs usually last a minute, which would take airtime away from crappy commercials. Really, they need to bring back theme songs. That's what made these shows of the 70s, 80s, and 90s,,,and the fact that you could watch these shows as a family, not like the raunchy crap they have on now!
Title sequences have been slimmed down in favor of "cold openings" that give a bit about the story to engage the viewer in the plot. They usually throw in a "hook" to raise intrigue by showing something unexplained. I think not having theme songs is about grabbing the limited number of viewers in the very diverse TV landscape. Theme Songs really can become repetitive and while they give a picture of the Series, they do not describe what will happen on that evening's particular show.
Harrison Crowe You can have a cold opening and a theme in the same show. Even if there aren't sung lyrics they're still using them. Examples: Doctor Who, Walking Dead.
In 2019 still missing this show! I don't know why but it makes me cry every time I hear the opening song! So much hope and determination in it I guess!
Exactly! That's how I explain it to my husband, who somehow never watched it growing up. They even copped some gags from Laverne and Shirley (being stuck on coat hooks comes to mind), but it was still a great show.
