Yes she did pose a real threat to him. In fact she was basically the complete counter to his build. Ainz has a roleplay build centered around necromancy. Shaltier is a minmaxed to the extreme 1v1 specialist who wields basically every tool she needed to shut down every strength ainz had. Ainz had one major advantage, experience. Dispite the running gag that ainz is this dummy surrounded by more capable people he is actually very smart. In both running the guild and in battle. The NPCs are basically children who has the entire database of battle downloaded into their brains, while ainz is a true pvp master with years of experience. They could know everything in the world but it doesn't matter without the skill to apply it. Keep in mind, his guild when the game was ended was the 11th highest ranked guild. There was a raid of 1500 level 100 players and npcs against the tomb a couple of weeks before the end of the game and by himself he ended them completely and utterly. However with that being said, shaltier should have won. But like a grandmaster vs a child he played her like a fiddle.

FYI , the eye behind Shalltear , distracting her , when she was about to stop Ainz from using the cash shop item , was due to Aura's interference . Aura likely saved Ainz , because he hesitated to kill Shalltear

That ending conversation in the church was a major info dump. They mentioned the mind controller Lady Kaire and the World Item that was used - Downfall of Castle and Country. They mentioned Nigun - the Angel guy from the battle at Carne Village They also confirmed that Clementine was one of theirs, but betrayed them and stole the crown that was used on Npheria.

In addition to my previous comment I wanted to add that ainz prepared himself for this being an ambush. The two elves who were watching the battle we're pretty much two nukes that were primed to strike that area with overwhelming force. Each of them were equiped with world class items. Depiction of nature and society, which was the scroll Aura had and avarice and vice the gauntlets that mare had. The gauntlets ability doesn't really help here but the scroll does. When activated depiction of nature and society emits a mile wide field where reality is replaced by one of the 50 landscapes chosen by the caster. The caster can enter and exit at will. After a couple of minutes one of 2 things will happen at the casters choice, an army of 80% of the combat strength of the targets party is spawned or a single entity with 100% of the targets strength is spawned. These forces will attempt to destroy the targets of the world item in with the caster and any allies who decide to also enter this space with the permission of the caster. These landscapes can have debilitating effects like extreme heat causing damage every round, to mazes that are trapped around every corner, a big with poison gas etc. The only way to escape is to find the single designated exit and if you do you become the owner of the world item. To ensure this item is used properly, aura was chosen to watch the battle and surrounding area. She is a level 100 beastmaster ranger. She can see through invisibility, with her abilities she can survey areas miles beyond her actual line of sight. And can summon her beast army which is the second greatest fighting force the tomb has. So with her there an effective army was just sitting there waiting to be unleashed. And mare is a AOE spellcasting specialist. He is more powerful then ainz in raw damage output. Next to ainz he is the most powerful spellcaster in the tomb. Like I said in the last post, ainz is very smart and when it comes to warfare and combat he is a master.

Lol the funny thing is the creator of this show actually lightly based this anime on his own experience..it was his DnD friends and lord touch me (not his real name) was a knight clad in holy armor who was his best friend IRL but because everyone got married and had full time jobs they couldn't play together anymore ..so yeah this was basically his own story and a what if scenario if he got stuck in his own DND world .. That's why the first scene of the round table really hits hard once you know what he was feeling on that moment in his life.

The thing about Ainz is, going back to his gaming days he's constantly beaten many opponents a lot stronger than him. He was considered I think the third or fourth strongest player in the game. But he goes to absolute batman levels when it comes to preparation and research of opponents before he faces him and that's his greatest strength. He's overly cautious and plans heavily in advance before facing an opponent to the point that chance is no longer in the equation when it comes to his fights. SO yes, she posed a threat to him. But no, she basically had no chance to beat him because he already knew exactly what to do to win.

Shalltear was made for 1v1 combat, meanwhile Ainz built his Character for roleplay so she is actually stronger than Ainz in a 1v1, he just has much more experience than her and knew everything about her so the fight was "easy" for him. (irc there are like 2-3 people in Nazarick that could beat Shalltear 1v1 not including the Supreme Beings) If Nazarick fought her seriously with all the Guardians and Ainz she wouldn't have stood a chance.

Shalltear was temporarily removed from "world rule" so that control would pass to another owner, so she temporarily became a common NPC, as the spell was not completed she stayed in that state

Shaltear was hit with the world item Downfall of Country and Castle, but killed the user before any orders were given. World Items can only be defended against if you hold another world item. It's why you saw the elf twins wearing the gauntlets (Avarice and Generosity) and scroll (Depiction of Nature and Society).

I still remember when the first season ended and EVERYONE was saying it wouldn't get another season because it was just bait to get people to buy the LN and manga. I held out hope the whole time until they announced a second season. I also took the "bait" and bought the LN's and I'm soooo happy I did.

The question whether or not Shalltear posed a threat is kind of a matter of perspective. Had Ainz actually brought his gear, his world level items etc. then no, Shalltear wouldn't have been able to do much if anything at all. There likely wouldn't have been any kind of fight at all if he did, cause she would not have been able to defend against that, had he wanted to destroy her regardless of cost or circumstances. There is also the fact that he had a hard time going through with killing her, which is why the elves had to interfere when Ainz hesitated to finish Shalltear off. If we look at it from a purely stat/class based standpoint, Shalltear is basically the perfect counter to Ainz, so if we take all the gear he could have used, all the items, his vastly superior experience and knowledge of her and combat in general out of the equation, then yes, Ainz would have been in trouble if it was 1vs1 combat. Whether or not he would have lost, would have had to flee, or could have pulled it off anyways....hard to say, but it would haven been a very difficult fight for sure. So in that sense there is a theoretical possibility of something existing that could beat him if you reduce him to nothing but his theoretical abilities according to his build. Realistically however, since he has all of Nazarick, a plethora of world level items, loads of insanely powerful gear and vastly superior knowledge of high end combat compared to basically anyone else in that world, he's kinda like one punch man if he needs to be, at least looking at the end result if it's necessary.

yes she pose a real legitimate threat stats wise and buildwise.. but ainz is more battle smarts compared to a newly turned in npc.. (they will change abit eventually) and the reason ainz winning is because he got way more prep time+ all those items and mainly by outsmarting them.. but still a win is a win.. ainz is just smarter.. like how he bluff her saying that i'll finish this with physical fight too but end up using super tier magic and all those CD reduction item.. fyi in online game (cash shop item= p2w cheat f2p can only cry facing it)

I think the timer was set to tell Ainz when the cool down period was over for casting the kill spell again. If Ainz ever finds out who mind controlled Shalltear the entire might of Nazarick will rain down on them in true biblical proportions.

at last moment ainz hesitated to kill her and shelltear was going to destroy the item in ainz hands but aura used her spell which is not mind control spell but more like taunt spell. the spell was effective because aura was equipped with world level item.

nazaric has production dacilities to make hust about anything. it works on ygdeassil gold, wich they can make via the exchange box that transforms any matirial into its equivalent in ygdrassil gold. the onlly thing they cant make are data crystals. said crystals were drop items onlly and could be used to make absolutlly anyhing

that a prime guardian could pose a threat to him mean exactly silch. there are, in the known story, at best a handful of creatures in the new world he cannot handle with ease.

Shalltear has the class advantage against Ainz. Theres a reason why shes the guardian of three whole floors. she is Strong

If he didn't know all about her, and she hadn't acted the way he predicted she would, he could have lost. Statistically she had all the advantage, like Cocytus said in the previous episode, the odds were 3:7 not in his favor based on stats and apparent equipment.

Ainz was one of the top 50 Players in the game.

I think Shalltear did pose a real threat. There were a few points in the battle where she could have turned the tide, and she almost stopped Momonga right at the end. I always worry about how many limited-edition resources Momonga uses in battle. Even the cheap Horn that he tossed to Enri (in the Carne village battle) has a ton of value in a world where such things can no longer be obtained. I think Momonga plans to focus on creating superior items with the potion-making family that he sent to Carne village, along with other experimentation.

I'm going to have to say again you two will probably really enjoy Code Geass. Lelouch and Ainz are very similar when it comes to their attention to preparation and strategy.

You should stop believing that there are NPCs or that this is the game world . As far as you know , Ainz and HIS NPCs guild characters got transported into a real fantasy world . Of course in that new world , there are enough evidence and stuff from the game , to prove that he isn't the first Player (and/or set of NPCs) transported there

Warning that it just get more political and more world building. For me it's good but for those who don't like this type of show it doesn't work. Just some warning. Since i see alot of people that put some expectation on thing and just get dissappointment when it didn't go on their way of expectation.
