More than one hour of pure #metaldetecting in a gorgeous forest during stormy weather. It started with an old buckle and continued with another very old artifact that looks like a hook for hanging some sort of equipment.
It could have been attached to a leather belt, or jacket.
The pace was fast with plenty of finds, many of them musket balls. I made “7” GPS worthy finds in 80 minutes and thought about quitting but because the camera had still some battery left, I decided to continue after a break.
This seemed a good decision, because of the find made shortly after. The signal was unusual (with lower resolution), I knew it isn’t going to be another musket ball. After a very careful dig, I couldn’t believe my eyes… Another 1600’s silver coin! The same (fragile) type as the other ones found in this area, although I wasn’t even in the same spot.
Unfortunately the surface of this coin was highly unstable. I placed it in distilled water, but the slightest touch of a (very soft) brush, took of the silver surface. I haven't seen something like that before.
If I had to rate this outing, it would be at least a 9 out of 10. It was a day where everything came together and aligned perfectly.
I hope you had some fun.
Thanks for watching!
