Luke, you make the best bowling videos, period. Yes some other channels probably have way more viewers who were born after the 2000s, but for us adults and younger adults, your analysis, humor, presentation, scripting, depth of information, and your data bank of bowling knowledge is of course not perfect but its OBVIOUS you know what you're talking about. You deserve huge fame and huge kudos for your videos. I started watching bowling content in 2023 and see your content has obviously improved. THANK YOU AND PLEASE KEEP UP THE AWESOME CONTENT! PS: I might be bias since you remind me of my fighting game homie named Luke who also bowls!
1H lefty here, The first throw you made I could instantly tell its an asym IQTS. The IQTS has been practically glued to my hand for league and it just mows down everybody. The TDX is the 1st ever ball I bought as a pre order and I’ve been a bowler for 15 years. Can’t wait for mine to show up
bought one 2 weeks ago. and finally used it last thursday in game 3. started with my revenate. under reaction 202 changed to the dark code, under reaction 206. TD was great. 223 3 splits but that was all on me.
I’m bowling 2h lefty now, and have always done well with the Hustle balls. The. DX feels like the perfect ball choice. So glad they made a VTC cover assym.
The continuation of the Tour Dynam-X is absolutely insane. I almost always split the 8-9 or run over the 8 pin. i have to move far right and roll flat hand to get any deflection. Bonus is the response to hand position. Love this thing!
Been trying to decide on a ball in the 'mid range' and juggling iQs/Hyped/Hustles/Hyroads/etc and glad I waited. I think this is the winner. Doesn't hurt it has similar blue to my old fave Tour Boss :)
Hey Luke great video as always!!! SPI is killing me with all these new balls😅. I mentioned to you earlier about doing an Xpo Duo and Zgl. But now I think I’ll go with TD in place of the Xpo. Never threw an IQ TOUR Solid. I think that’ll be a good fit with the other two. Thanks again for the videos. I’ve been watching you almost since you’ve started and I get a lot of great knowledge from your analysis!!!! Keep up the AMAZING work!!!!
Great review as always. Realize you have comparisons coming but would love to see the TD up against the XPonent, IQ Tour, Phaze II, and Summit. There's just so many control/tour-like options now to choose from.
@@LukeRosdahl that's fair. I think I was more coming from the perspective of a progression video focused on the new stuff like you did with James a while back. When so many releases come out back to back, a "what's in the bag" type video is always useful. Love the content!
Ah yeah, I need to put something else like that together, it's just so time consuming and I haven't had the time to even put the simple stuff like report cards out.
I’m a two hander and I am deeply considering having this ball be my step down from my infinit phisix (my only other ball besides my spare ball) and have it be my benchmark ball for my arsenal for the foreseeable future I was thinking I would do 2*6*5 as a rev dominant low speed player. Love your vids and the discord link you sent me in the other video worked ❤
Be careful with the layouts on this one, it's already very low rg and low diff, so I'm not sure about the short pin idea, it'll roll at your toes and not flare at all
Would this be a good ball for battling 2nd/3rd game urethane carry down? Speed dom guy (16.5mph, 280ish rev's) and every other week lately someone on other teams throwing a prple hammer etc right down the track (my spot). Tried my Spr Nova 3rd game and not much over/under but flat 10 flat 10..... Was thinkin bout polishing the S Nova for 3rd game Uthane beater, or maybe the TD? Best info reviews by miles thanx!
Nah TD isn't the ball for that, the Clone would be better but it's still going to be smoother. Nothing really digs through carrydown, what you usually have to do is play for it and go straighter, just hit the pocket and take what you get. This one is just a bit too weak and smooth for that already
Awesome video luke. If you’re buying a new phaze 2 or Tour dynamx rn as a slightly speed dominant lefty who wants to let the ball lane shine for league. Which one you buying ?
As always appreciate ur reviews! One simple question.. How long do u think the self life of this ball will be? I know that’s a hard question to answer and it’s all based on consumers buying the ball, so I guess I kinda answered my own question here…but would still like to hear ur thoughts
Yo thanks!!! Stuff gets discontinued so fast that it's hard to say, but they're artificially reducing the life span of stuff by pumping out so much other stuff so quickly AND abandoning what they have out there. Once they release a ball, you never see any more attention or promotion for it, so that factors in, and unless the ball happens to strike lightning, they're usually gone within a year now. This one was designed to be more of a tournament ball, and we don't have anything else like it out there, but they haven't said another word about it since it released, and I think it ultimately ended up a little too weak to be very useful. It shines up and gets very weak quickly, I think the general sentiment has been disappointment with this one, so I'd expect it to be discontinued by July or August 2024.
@@LukeRosdahl Wow!! I’ve never thought about like this..Every point u have just mentioned is so damn true! As always very detailed and right on point! Ur the man brother.. I hope u and angel had a good Christmas and have great New Year!!
Hey righty 2 hander here, I have purple solid reactive, envy tour, rattler, black venom etc… if it has low diff I get it. I already know I’ll love this ball. I just worry I’m overlapping my bag too much.
Great stuff Luke. I find myself with a nice arsenal of the old and new. Would you please equate these Roto cores with Storm cores like the newest Sentinel and Centripital HD/AI? Thank you! Ikon Rondure Torpex Mentor Defiant LRG
Centripetal HD is just a slightly stronger version of the Ikon, Mentor, and Torpex, and the Sentinel is a little stronger than the Rondure core but a little weaker than the Defiant LRG
I would like to see a comparison between the xponant and the tour dynam x. I think that would be very interesting to see side by side, from what I've seen they should be very close.
How many boards stronger is the clone to the og rubicon? Also, how many boards weaker is the tour Dynam-x to the og rubicon? Would all 3 fit in the same bag?
Clone and Rubicon are very close on strength, I just find the Clone to be quite a bit earlier and smoother. The TDX I think ultimately is 3-4 boards weaker than the Rubicon. They look fairly close with surface, the Rubicon is just a tad stronger and sharper, but once they shine up, the TDX falls off significantly. They could all fit in the same bag, just for different reasons.
They're both pretty good and actually really similar, Angel has been throwing them both so far and I'm going to do a comparison because it's honestly kind of hard to tell them apart. The ONE thing is that the TD moves inside easier because the small bit of asymmetry helps it continue to wind up from deep, so the XPonent is probably the "truer" IQ Tour competition, but the TD gets elevated by giving you the same experience AND being more versatile.
@LukeRosdahl Could be my screen contrast. For me the pins reflection on the lanes washes them out in older videos. I was thinking maybe the camera was up higher than in other videos but in the more recent ones I could see them better. Either way, keep up the great work. You're the #1 ball review show I watch for all SPI.
I'm going to do a TD vs X video here in a couple days, they overlap quite a bit. Covers are virtually identical, and aside from the minor asym vs sym shape difference, they're somewhat on top of each other
Silly question here. Bought a NIB All-Road over summer. I've been trying to figure stuff out after a span change going into last season. Resulted in gaining about 1/2 mph and decent amount of revs(13.5-14 down lane, from low to now medium revs) at 50yrs old. All-Road looks good, but may not be strong enough on fresh. How do you see TDX comparing, or what ball would you suggest?
TDX is stronger from a core perspective, but has a quite a bit weaker cover. If the All Road isn't strong enough for the fresh, the TDX probably isn't quite enough either. Something like a Duo might be perfect though.
I was very excited about this release and was very seriously contemplating buying it, but then I won an Envy Tour hahaha. I saw Charles Hutchinson with The Hype compare the TD-X and Envy Tour, the TDX seemed just a tad cleaner. But what you said about the Clone being a good step up from the TDX was very intriguing to me. Do you think the Clone would also be a step up from Envy Tour? And would the Clone overlap with my Nova, which has been my favorite ball lately.
The Clone would be a step sideways from the Envy I think, clone is earlier and smoother. Angel loves her Nova as well, the Clone isn't QUITE a full step up, but it's more than a half step up. Definitely earlier and stronger. More torque down lane to make it still pull up when the Nova is getting lazy
When drilling this ball. Should I drill it the same as all my pin up balls or go with a smoother pin up lay out because of the asymmetry? I’d talk in drilling numbers but I don’t know them. Pin above the ring kicked out a hair. All my pin up balls are symmetrical.
Ive got a Simonsen sized rev rate and im a two hander righty that likes to play as straight as I can, do you think the DX will be better at playing straighter than the !Q??? I know you said you'd have no problem if SPI discontinued the !Q now that this ball is out but that just sounds like blasphemy to me, unless of course this ball is just that good
Yeah, discussed this at the beginning of the video. Down to 1000 and finished with reacta skuff for Angel to get to a 3000ish grit sheen, then I went 1000-2000 for mine
Oh absolutely, the P2 is almost an arrow stronger. Remember this cover is based on the VTC cover from the Hypeds and Hustles, so medium to medium low strength. The P2 has a much stronger more aggressive cover.
@@LukeRosdahl based on this, where would you rank the Clone relative to the P2? You mentioned in the video the Clone was a few boards stronger than the TD. Based on Angel's shots it looked like 3-4 boards at the arrows, so would that put the Clone and P2 pretty close to each other in strength, just different shapes?
@@Munsen488 P2 still has more actual traction, and it winds up and accelerates down lane where the Clone gradually slows down and eases in. Wildly different ball motions, and still ending up with the P2 edging it on overall strength.
Yea I dunno about gettin' rid of the IQ, for 2 Handers like myself, that smooth motion is unmatched. I've yet to throw anything that even comes close to the predictability/motion the IQ Tour and Pearls give. If you're rev challenged, then maybe.
I mean, this is the same type of motion, but the bit of asymmetry makes it handle angle better. So from what I've experienced, especially being that the IQ is a lefty staple, if I had to pick between the TD and an IQ for the bag, it'd be the TD.
How many of this ball are you going to tuck away? Anybody who bowls left handed knows you were playing the money shot in this video. You caught my attention with this one.
Well hopefully this ball won't go anywhere, hopefully this will be the Roto ball that turns into an IQ Tour or P2 so I shouldn't have to worry about tucking any away . . buuuut yeah, cases lol.
Great Review Luke!! as always!! I absolutely love my Rubicon, it still goes everywhere with me! When i heard about this release, without even seeing it go down a lane, i already knew i was adding one to my bag.... but DAMMM you have made the urge of wanting one even stronger!! I cannot wait till the TD makes its way to the UK!!
Doesn't look like he resurfaced it, plus where he bowls is insanely high friction. Reacta Gloss contamination plus 2k on a ton of friction isn't going to look good, so not terribly surprised. With a surface reset, medium friction lanes, and a reasonable pattern, I think our results make sense. Remember our TNTs were awful out of the box, didn't even film the first time out for the DNA because it was so bad out of the box, had to just fix it etc. They really need to get their issues fixed but I think they're trying harder to cover them up than fix them.
One other note here, he also throws 14s, and since Storm can't seem to figure out 14 pound equipment with any consistency, instead of the numbers being 2.47, .026, and .010 like in 15, they're 2.52, .026 and .008. As I'm sure you know, that 5 points in RG is massive and could turn it into an over/under nightmare depending on the layout.
