@@bandaddie It's not because they think everyone is stupid, but rather they know that stupid exist and are out in public and you typically can't tell them apart from everyone else. It's just easier to explain (in excruciating detail) to everyone.
Trooper: What are these things back here? Steve: Oh they uh help with shock performance. Trooper: That's good since you're probably 270ibs. Steve: Yeah I guess. LOL!
Tail of the Dragon it's called, locals don't call it Dragon's Tail, LOL That was a very good run, some good skills. Stay safe and keep those Troopers out of your pocket!
You can wax it, you can brush it, you can even soak it down... but a V-Twin engine, will always wear your chain. LOL ever try to push start a V-Twin... try it with any 4 banger, even a Busa, and you will see what I mean. Good traction tho, you can always count on good traction no matter how hard you romp it.
Ammonia based glass cleaner will eventually ruin plastics used for lenses and windscreens. In aviation, the cheap substitute that gets the job done is believe it or not, Pledge.
Just FYI 15 mph over the speed limit is an automatic 30 days suspension in North Carolina. That cop was a total asshole...Instead of just professionally ticketing you he wanted to talk about parts of your bike and call you a 275 lb guy... Total unprofessional bullshit.
On May 23,2020, I was at the Harley shop at the end of The Tail of the Dragon and my wife and I noticed a few blue Road Glides across the street that had some unique modifications to include chain drive. The other day I was watching RU-vid on my TV and this video pops up and my wife and I immediately recognized your bike. After watching the video it was definitely you and the other bikes. Weird how your video popped up out of the blue. Oh well, Ride Safe and I Subscribed!
I was there too, rode down from Illinois on Friday! crazy small world haha. Me and my buddies pointed out your road glide after seeing the reservoirs and inverted front end. Dig the bike man
I rode the Tail on June 29th 2019. I liked the ride through it. U probably rode it twice as fast as I did! I rode all the way from above Seattle Washington.
3:33 "Haha, better for you since you weigh 270lbs..." Bruh.... I'm a keep my mouth shut for that this one time... because 82 in a 55, yep shut up... not going to jail today!
Hey Bud, I have been riding HD forever I ride street Glides 2019 CVO rode all over the continent but the ride you just did on the Dragon with no protective gear made me really edgy. I am thinking if you can pilot an HD that fast one of those new 230 HP Asian bikes in your hands could lay waste to a lot of records many places. Take Jap bike out of box go crazy no upgrades. Good video.
I want to get a Dyna for riding in the Smokies, what tires do you run on a bike like that? All the cruiser tires I've used have been very slippery . Tire roll is likely more of a problem than lack of traction but hey,,,, I'm no rocket surgeon
My first time down there. For sure go eat at the moonshiners steakhouse! We stayed at a very not motorcycle friendly air bnb. Camera is the new go pro max. Yes it’s a 360!
You ride pretty good, one suggestion though with bigger bikes you can go much faster by keeping the bike as upright as possible and practicing the lean over knee drags like bike racers.
Chldof1TrueKng yes I’ve been working on that. My problem is being a 300 lb guy and still on floor boards and being light on the bars it’s a trick to get the hang of.
Steve Chamberlin I’m 6‘4“ and over 300 pounds myself. I suggest getting rid of the floorboards for more clearance, but I know how comfortable they can be. I’ve been riding a lot of years and I’m glad to see young guys like yourself really getting into it. Digging your channel and that 360° camera. Keep up the good work, ride hard and stay safe.😎👍🏻
I love the camera and it’s ability to swivel. Glad you enjoyed my home state, you left a lot on the table in the turns, I never heard anything scrape😊 But that’s why I ride a KTM 1290, the other big guy bike😎
If you listen back to the 11:30 mark before I blow the rear tire loose exiting a corner I hit the boards like 2 times. It’s far down there when I hit being that it’s lifted about 3-4” higher than stock and I can’t have much tire left
Yea definitely need to still work on them lines. The 360 camera mounted 4.5’ off the ground on top of the fairing doesn’t help but absolutely did I have some poor line choices in a couple corners
Nice vid. I see this was just posted 6 days ago but is this footage recent? Been trying to make a trip down but didnt know how things are through MD, VA, NC or TN with this virus (I'm coming out of PA). Tired of putting trips on hold bc of this covid stuff
Just go. Was down with some friends in July. It was all good except some guy wrecked right in front of me about 3 turns in . Other than that had a great time! If everyone would just turn off the TV and ignore this CV 19 BS maybe we could get back to normal.
I never understood all this enthusiasm for this Tail of the Dragon. Some curve on a road that is as large as a highway. Try to ride a bagger all along Alpine Passes in Italy or Switzerland: you'll find out that the Tail of the Dragon is for beginners.
Haha literally says in the video that I’ve never been so gotta try everywhere once. But hell yea thanks for some road suggestions. Someday I’ll hit them
Your bike is a beast and you were running the Dragon DAMN fast on a Harley bagger. Just a tip, if you gonna be riding like that, may want to invest in riding gear with Kevlar. Those guys on the rice rockets in full leathers aren't wearing them to look pretty. Seen them go down and those leathers save skin. Subscribing to the channel. Look forward to your videos.
@@schamberlin5150 Watched it a few more times and that was very impressive riding through the Dragon especially on a touring frame. That road is more suitable for lighter weight bikes. Its a lot of weight to be powering and throwing a Harley bagger in those corners. That suspension looked like it planted you well in the corners and popped you up coming out. Any wobbling on the front while in the corners? Your braking was spot on. You doing a 70front/30rear before entering the corners or trailbraking? What type of braking you running on the bike? Everyone wants to go fast but few think about effective braking. I laughed when looking behind you and the guys behind you were no longer there. Around 12:20 going into the corner, those folks on the side of the road were all looking at you wondering what in the heck is that as you flew by them. There are a lot of roads in that area of East TN, NC, GA, Virginia for motorcycles. I will try to find the motorcycle map that lists them and let you know where to get one so you can plan like a week long trip down to ride a lot of them. Your a damn good rider, invest in that riding gear though because you never know. I have seen good riders lose it and skid 30, 50, 70 feet. Last thing, go search out RU-vid video for Yellow Wolf on the Dragon.
Thanks man. I have many miles on this bike and I understand the bike very well. Soon I will post a video of the bike and the suspension and geometry changes that I believe helps it accomplish being so nimble
Stock Harley bags I cut up. Have in my earlier videos how to modify or email my business page steve@screaminspeednfab.com if interested in having me do it
Just did the dragon with my wife on the back of my Honda VTX1300C. Roads were pretty wet but did it right after sunrise and only saw maybe 10 other bikes and a few cars. Loved it. There are prettier roads around there that are a blast to ride but none compare as far as how challenging it was. 441 from Pigeon Forge to Cherokee is awesome and has a full 360 degree corkscrew.
What was the name of the cabin or hotel you stayed at that had a garage for your bike. Also name of burger place ya'll ate at in robbinsville, nc. Your vids are dope
Hey bro love your videos! Love the info and new stuff! How does that go pro turn around? Do you do it during editing? Or can you switch it around on the fly whenever you want? Shits crazy! Thanks!
I have a lot of talking in my previous videos but yea trying to get that good mix of action, talking and shenanigans. Thanks for your input! It is appreciated
