Maybe, surely a few more to come in the short term. I would like to help at McGill with some open science communication stories.... another passion. Two new grandchildren in Montreal are quite a draw too.
Nice video guys. Our experience with our previous cat across the Atlantic was almost the whole trip with the asymmetrical spinnaker off the windward hull. It was super nice sailing in 10/14 knots almost the whole passage. 2 days out of Fernando our crew got caught in a squall with the asymmetrical spinnaker up and that was the end of that sail . We then really suffered with the light winds trying to sail with a main sail and Genoa at 140 degrees. It was moto sailing for days til we got to Suriname and stopped over for 10 days. Now we have our Catana 47 in SE Asia and light winds it is for sure. It’s nice to be able to sail with our screecher and full main in 10 knots where most are still motoring. We have not as yet got any winds at the right angle to raise our spinnaker as yet🙄. Was I right in seeing Biotrek up for sail at just catamarans ? What boats next 😊
Thanks for letting us follow along on your journey. Seems there are a number of GLYWO boats hitting the market. Circumnavigation ✔and onto the next chapter. Congratulations on 2 laps around the globe. Quite an accomplishment! Cheers.
Great video. I have enjoyed your entire circumnavigation. I thought I saw were BioTrek had been sold. Where are you giving it up for delivery to the new owners? Possibly I am mistaken and you will be sailing BioTrek to New England. Then you have to add that new grandchild into the mix. A very strong pull, I am sure.
Thank you. BioTrek is for sale but not sold. There is interest in New England 🤞yes grandchildren are a pull - one newborn and one 2. They are now with us in St Martin for a week😊
Congratulation to another circumnavigation! We met each other at St. Lucia Rodney bay, when I finisht the ARC 2021 and you came along. I followed your channel and I admire you. My dream would be an atlantic crossing with an outremer 45 and I hope it become true. I hope, this boat is not to small (Ningyo was with you), what do you think? All the best for you and your family!
Your videos helped inform my own choice for cruising cat, will sadly miss all the top tips. Just wondering how you get B&G Zeus mirrored on your PC screen? I’ve tried a couple of Android emulators for link app, but without success.
Again one tecnical question: you are talking about reefing downwind. How do you manage it, when there is much wind in the mainsail? Thanks for an answer!
Yes downwind reefing. Mast rotation helps. We also have a downhaul cord to the first reef that we take to the winch at helm station. And take pressure off the sail by letting the sheet out a bit.
Great video guys. Is the 5X truly easy to handle by a couple or are you not allowing for the Pierre factor making it look easy. We're looking forward to finding out if there will be another boat. Cheers
There is a Pierre factor with all the modifications: electric traveller, changed winch control button location, reefing system etc. If Pierre were injured I could sail BioTrek by myself, but not fast. I would slow her down - a lot. He likes to say that you can slow down a fast boat but not speed up a slow boat.
