It is said that this dance has over 30 formations/transitions and i tried counting, lost count after like 18 or 19 because damn it exo, they moved after every single line! This is their most dynamic choreography to date imho

As you mentioned, "Electric Kiss" is one of EXO's Japanese tracks, so that explains why the MV is short. Japanese MVs are traditionally shorter abridged versions of the song. My theory is that it's a marketing tactic. Japanese producers want to make sure that fans are purchasing the song and album, so they make the MV short so you hear just enough of the song that you want to hear more which forces you to have to buy the song if you want to hear the full version. Japanese songs and albums from Kpop artists are produced and marketed by Japanese companies, so that is why they have different/more strict copyrights. Often, the only way you can hear the full version of the song for free is if you watch a dance practice video like this, or you see a performance from one of their Japanese concerts. Plus, most of the time Japanese songs are not promoted outside of Japan, so the promotions for those songs are way different. It's kind of the same principle that was used in EXO's "Lightsaber" MV -- if you want to hear the full song and see all the members singing it, you have to watch the concert performance of the Japanese version. And, as with everything that EXO, does, the MV for "Electric Kiss" is telling another part of EXO's storyline. So everything you see in the MV is strategically done to give fans who follow EXO's storyline more clues to another piece of EXO's story.

It's still one of my favorites but I do see what you were referring to in the middle there. EXO - The Vocal Kings Of Kpop. There is an older video called EXO Amazing Vocals that people might request but it is almost a 3 year old video. The vocal kings video has the classic clips but also a bunch of new ones as well so you won’t miss out! It focuses on the main vocal line (Chen, Baekhyun & D.O.) but also introduces the vocals of each member at the end as well. You will definitely see why they are regarded as the Vocal Kings of Kpop! I love this choreography, their transitions here are just fire! I was wondering when you'd get to this one. I know you love your synchronization and this is the most you'll ever see EXO hit that sort of vibe. Japanese MVs often come in a short version for free, and you get the full version if you purchase the album with the region 2 DVD. They tend to be very strict when it comes to copyrights. (Also, Monster released 2 years before Electric Kiss, so this one is in the middle of Monster and Obsession).

I have to say (and I know I’m gonna get murdered for it but, oh well) thank you for being like the only RU-vidr that doesn’t just react to BTS. I enjoy BTS but they aren’t even in my top 10 favorite groups so it’s nice to have someone to watch who isn’t obsessing over every video they have ever produced. Not that I don’t expect you to never react to them. But thank you for recognizing some of the other amazing talent out there.

It's so short because Japan has a tradition of selling versions of the single with a DVD of the full MV, even before youtube they would only play a short version of the MV on music channels. If you look on other sites, like Daily Motion, you can find full versions of the Japanese singles that people have uploaded.

Literally when they're filmed this, their choreographer couldn't came bcs he sick. So, kai is the one who adjusting the choreo on the set ❤

I don't know why no one has suggested EXO's "Lucky one" yet..it's apparently the most "hated" choreo by the members themselves😂 they said it's hard and their body hurts while dancing it. if i’m not mistaken, they had filmed this dance practice in a rush/ like they were really busy but they all decided to film it for exo-l’s.

Exo don’t really try very hard during dance practice videos because that’s what it is...it’s a dance practice. They often don’t film this specifically for release so the videos we see are not meant to be performance videos. They are most likely what they usually send to broadcast stations for camera work because they don’t really go into music shows and do live practices anymore.

There is only a short version for foreigner. Japan is really strict on their contents, i think the full version can only be seen in japan or something like that. Japanese labels are VERY protective of their contents and either don't upload full videos or block any contents related to their productions (i mean i know that from foreign groups who does J-pop, i don't really know their rules when it's actual j-pop groups doing it)

It's short because it's a Japanese release! It's a very common practice there. I can't remember the technicalities of how it works, but pretty sure it's to encourage purchases and the full MVs accessible to those who make an album purchase.

Ooh la la la is my favorite exo dance practice I think. Then I like the exo-k versions of mama and history if you want to go back and see where they started. I also think their dubstep intro practice is cool but it’s only a minute or so long.

Now that you've mentioned it, theres actually only 3 Japanese music videos released and two of those are KA-CHING and Horololo by EXO-CBX. And the only one where the full MV was uploaded is for Horololo. I think it's because with their Japanese releases, it's always in collaboration with Avex (a Japanese entertainment company) and it has something to do with their contract there. They do show the full music video but it's usually on Japanese shows or something. You can always watch the full MVs, they're quite easy to search 😂 (You should definitely check out the full MV of Electric Kiss. I'll probably rewatch it after watching your video 😂)

Quick background abt EXO Exo used to be a 12 member group with two subgroup EXO-K ( who promotes in korea) and EXO-M (in China) but they also started promoting together. It’s sad but people used to label them as SM’s biggest mistake but they proved them wrong. EXO become the first group to sold millions of copies of albums in 12 years. Buying albums is not yet a huge thing back then that’s why EXO is one of the reason why ppl in korea is now fond of buying albums. Their song GROWL was labeled as South korea’s National anthem because you can heart it literally everywhere you go. Everything seems so perfect but little did they know a the middle of everything hardships will come. In 2014 Kris Wu left the group followed by Luhan. They used to say that it is the black year of exo. But that will not end there. 2015 another member Tao left exo. You see, EXO and EXO-Ls have been through a lot but they managed to stay strong as a group. They even won the album of the year in MAMA 5 consecutive times despite the controversies thrown to them. Up until now I can’t believe they are still here and now facing their military stage. What they experienced is not easy but hey they’ve made it. And I will always be proud of them. Lol this is long but idk Im just so emotional lately when it come to exo. That boys, they’ve been through a lot, more than you can imagine. What I said was just the main problems that they’ve faces as a group. I didn’t even include the countless of issues thrown to them such as dating scandal and such. Wow I just didn’t expect that from this family I will also witness them build they’re own family.

I get what ypu mean about the dance becoming more fluid rather than sharp in the middle. I know there are parts of the choreography where they let exo rest for a bit. That's usually in the middle before the climax of the song. I like it though hehe. Electric kiss is my favorite choreo because of the transitions. It looks so dynamic. When they actually do dance practices, they shot it multiple times like it could go over fifty dance practices or even more. Each shot they try to check everything to correct errors esp on the arm and leg angles. They uses degrees for angles to correct each members to synch. Dance practices is actually use for another purpose which is to be submitted for tv appearances like music shows for camera works to be familiar with who is singing the part. Some dance practices members has nametags on them- that is for camera works. Since they had so much dance practice shots the company is the once who chooses the video to be uploaded. Some groups tho, they dont usually do this like for moving camera dance practice. Its a different story. Hahahar

The most dificult aspect about this song is that there is almost no repetition in the formation. So many different parts to remember. But this dance is just so much fun :-)
