As an SM stan. I’m so proud of EXO. They’re truly talented vocally. Do you even wonder why they’re the Nation’s Boy Band? Vocals ✅ Visuals ✅ Dance ✅ Rap ✅ minus the hype they’re just truly talented individually and the fact that they’re together makes it so wonderful as most of the SM artists.

Most nostalgic song that always makes EXO-Ls cry even until know.

"Miracles In December" actually features the 4 main vocalists in EXO. If you haven't yet, you should check out the Mandarin version as well. If you have never heard the Mandarin version, then you are missing out on hearing Luhan's beautiful voice also. :D In the EXO-M version of "Miracles in December" you will see that Luhan sings instead of D.O. Luhan was one of the main vocalist in EXO-M. Chen and Luhan are both EXO-M members so they sang the Mandarin songs, and to round out the vocals Baekhyun subbed in as an EXO-M member. :D You should check out the Chinese version to hear how beautiful it also is in Mandarin. (In the Korean version you see D.O., Baekhyun and Chen as the singers because they are EXO's main vocalists and they are all native Korean -- even though Chen is a member of EXO-M. To create the perfect melody SM decided they needed all three of them to create the right blend of their voices and harmonies. In the EXO-M version, they put Luhan in the mix because, as the only native Chinese one of the four of them, it would be pretty weird if they didn't use the main vocalist from the Mandarin sub-unit in that version of the song. Plus, Luhan is the only one of the three that speaks fluent Mandarin.) "Miracles in December" is part of EXO's winter comeback releases, so, as you heard, it's a ballad. EXO's winter albums are always their ballad albums. Up until the last couple of years EXO used to come out with 3 to 4 albums a year -- a summer album that was more of their mainstream hype songs and a repackaged album a few weeks later, and then, in the winter, they would release another album that was more of a holiday album and it was all slower ballad songs. But the last couple of years EXO's first comeback of the year hasn't been until the end of the year -- for example, Don't Mess Up My Tempo was released in November 2018 and the Obsession album didn't come out until November 2019. So, I guess, because the first album and repackage were released so late in the year, SM decided that releasing a winter holiday album would just be too soon after the other album. So we haven't gotten a new winter album for 3 years now. Which I think is a shame because EXO's ballads are really beautiful and I enjoy them almost more than their other songs. If you notice, Xiumin was the one that made it snow. Xiumin has the power to control ice/frost/snow, so anytime something has to do with these weather elements they will focus on him. In the MV you see Xiumin in the red sweater and the black vest with the lapel pin that is shaped like EXO's logo. He steps outside and looks up at the sky and at that moment his pin shimmers and it begins to snow. It is thought that the members' powers are tied to their emotions, so when Xiumin is sad or melancholy, he almost can't help it, and he will make it snow. And as you also may have noticed, Tao is the one that turned back time and then instantly brought time back to the present again, because he has the power to control time. The snow was falling in reverse at one point because Tao was rewinding time. Then you see everything pause for a second and the snow starts falling down again when he brings everything back to the present. You also saw during this MV that there was an eclipse. Eclipses affect the members powers and it is also where they gather strength, etc. This even happens in live performances. You will see instances of them using their powers to control things that happen on stage during live concert performances. Suho makes it rain on stage, Xiumin will make it snow, Chanyeol will control fire, Chen will control the thunder and lightning, Baekhyun often makes the lights go on and off, etc. If you keep this all in mind when you watch any of their MVs or live performances, it's kind of fun to search for the instances where they are using their powers. In some MVs and songs the members use their powers more than others, but at least one member will use their powers in almost everything they do, it just might be more subtle sometimes than others. So this is just another element of EXO's performances that make watching them unique. "Miracles in December" is a kind of breakup song that is about how the holidays makes you nostalgic for that loved one that you are no longer with. It makes you remember all the good times and makes you wish you were together even though you know, deep down, you are better off now that you have broken up. All the gifts are supposed to be what they would have given to their girlfriends if they hadn't broken up before the holidays. "She" was a different girl for each of the members, and "she" was not meeting any of them, she was a memory of a past relationship that was no more. That's why Tao turns back time for a moment to relive being in the relationship, but then quickly returns to the present because he knows, deep down, he is better off and that you really can't go back in time and expect to fix everything in the relationship. That's why they are all sad and crying because they are heartbroken. I like to think, for example, that the puppy was probably going to be a present for Kai's girlfriend, but now that they have broken up, it just reminds him of her. it's kind of a bittersweet memory. :D The "miracle" is that the girl had such a profound impact on their life that, even though they aren't together anymore, she will always play a big role in his life history, etc. The "miracle" is that the holidays give you a reason to look back and reflect on those special moments in life, and even though the memories might make them sad because they are no longer able to make new memories together, the old memories are still there. And the "miracle" is that he has now realized she has taught him so much about love and life, but unfortunately, he has realized it too late and he can't go back, so he is sad. He's now upset because he is unable to show her the appreciation she deserves, etc., etc. As you probably see, knowing what the lyrics are about gives you a different perspective on the song. It is also often thought that the "girl" that EXO sings about and/or the one you see in their MVs is a manifestation of the heart of the Tree of Life. That is why the members are always trying to protect the girl or are talking about being in love with the girl but knowing that they are bad news for her, etc. Everything EXO does ties into their storyline, so when you think of the girl as part of EXO's origin story you might be able to see parallels to their mission and an even deeper hidden message in their songs and MVs.

Vocal kings. Chen’s voice is so soaring in this song. Baekhyun’s emotions and D.O.’s runs. Perfection.

To hear more of Chen's vocals, I'd recommend you "May We Bye", which he sang with OneStar (or Im Han byul), who is his vocal coach and director of vocals in many EXO songs, the vocals there is incredible! And also Chen did the basking tour, which is shown in EXO's relatively short show, Heart4u, the episodes are short, but they are totally worth checking out!!!

i cant believe i actually saw them at kbs music bank..they were my ult group for 6 years until i found stray kids and i saw both at kbs. but after g-idle, taemin, wanna one and stray kids, when exo came onto the stage at the end, that was when i broke down and cried like and idiot. they will forever have a special place in my heart

They debuted in 2012 with the song MAMA, but they were introduced and had released 2 pre-debut songs around late 2011, early 2012. All their winter songs are good =),oh sorry I mean all of their songs are good, we just have to choose our favourites hahaha

"Miracles in December" and "Paper Cuts" will always tear my heart apart, no matter how many times I've listened to them. There's just something about those two songs. Whether it's the power of three incredible voices combined together ("Paper Cuts" being a CBX song), the melody, the meaning of the lyrics or the raw emotion they put in their performances (no one can watch the "Paper Cuts" performance in Saitama without tearing up when Baekhyun falls apart...). Yeah, there's just something about EXO and the supreme beauty of their ballads. It was really nice watching you react to "Miracles in December" as it's such a heartbreaking yet incredible beautiful song :). And Jeff, if you've never listened to "Paper Cuts" before, considering your love for "Miracles in December", I can assure you, you'd love it (and you'd probably break down more than once while watching their performance ^^). This song is from their 2013 winter album. . Some of their winter albumss are Sing For You (2015), For Life (2016), Universe (2017). They are releasing winter albums before as a gift for EXO-L's and part if not all sales of their winter albums (like some of their albums) are donated to Smile for you campaign, it is SM's campaign that is partnered with Unicef.
