He's such a captivating performer! Very similar to Joanna Newsom in the sense that he seems to be pulling the words out from deep within...like they're a corporeal thing that's reluctant to leave. And when they do it registers in his face and mouth in a strange and very interesting way. So intense.

Actually a great comparison. Some musicians seem to physically give themselves over to the performance, and he does. Really would like to see Perfume Genius.

I was introduced to Perfume Genius via The Jimmy Kimmel Show about a week ago and was struck by the lead singer's animal magnetism! It really got to me and I've been pursuing everything on RU-vid about them! It's strange to become so intensely drawn into their performances! I feel that it was fate that pulled me into this awareness that someone could be so singularly self-possessed as this artist! I love them and can't wait to see what they might do next!

Refreshing to see an artist take a chance and compose music with real feelings and genuine emotions. He will be a household name in 2025 but we are lucky to see him in 2015. It's just like seeing the New Yardbirds before they morphed into Led Zeppelin.
