Comparing Versace Pour Homme OUD NOIR with Tom Ford's Oud Wood www.aaronteren... Instagram - AaronTerenceHughes #AaronTerenceHughes #PerfumerReviews #Versace Music: Sleepdebt - I C U
Yes make it all about oud give us 10% And have all other parts playing supporting roles , I like rise and fruit notes but sometimes they detract , I don’t mind smoothing , sweetening or accentuating the smokiness etc because that keeps oud as the stand out star
Don't worry about the "babbling", I enjoy watching your videos. I find it very interesting to hear how a perfumer describes fragrances. I've only really started my collection from about 4 years and am kind of addicted on the smells and how uplifting they make me feel. Everyone has to have a hobby right? 🤗
I Think You Hit The Nail On The Head! Versace Oud Noir Is Actually My Fragrance Of The Day. I'd Go With Versace Oud Noir Because Is Very Similar, Stronger And Way More Affordable
I think everything you said is legit. I personally like Oud Noir better and I recently got my first bottle, so I LOVE that you're covering it! I wore Oud Noir to visit a friend last week who owns Oud Wood, and she immediately said "Oh, you're wearing Oud Wood?" I say "no, I'm wearing MY 'Oud Wood,'" I know they're NOT the same, and I wasn't looking for an Oud Wood replacement, but Oud Noir does more of what I wish Oud Wood does, starting with being able to smell it and enjoy it as I wear it. It's like my personal Oud Wood Plus! Oud Wood is phenomenal, but it's very subtle and then it disappears. Couple that with the expense, I can't justify getting it for myself no matter how nice it is. Thanks!!
Keep making these the way you do. I find them soothing, plus I can learn a little. When you ramble a little it seems like you keep remembering thoughts you don't want to leave out. Combine that with the tidbits about yourself that pop up, and it becomes endearing because I can tell you are only being yourself with honesty.
Aaron, I found myself obsessed with the hobby of fragrances the last couple of weeks. I just came across your channel today. You are by far the most enjoyable and informative channel on the topic. Your words are careful and thoughtful and I somehow really understand the way you talk with your hands. Great appreciation for your passion to the craft. I’m excited to continue watching and learning from you. Cheers 🥂
There's something about the way you speak and describe things that drew me in and I couldn't figure out what it was. Now I realize what it is. Your reviews remind me of the early podcasts by John Galliano when he would describe the new Margiella collections. So immersive and descriptive. Love it. 👍
Love the comparison. I layer them as well but more time than not, I wear Oud Noir on it's own. It is actually one of my most complimented fragrances ever. Oud Noir just works. I love both of them and can't wait for the Oud Wood Parfum as well.
Your babbling is a solid dose of information. You’re very good at sharing information. Please don’t stop. I LUVE Oud Wood, but it only lasts 1-2 hours on my skin. It’s so frustrating! Gonna try Oud noir again.
Great content! You are not babbling at all. Very interesting insights about how ingredients work together in a fragrance. This is information that other RU-vid fragrance reviewers either don't know or aren't willing to share. Please keep up the good work!
Great review sir. I own oud wood but have never smelled out noir. Can't buy any of your fragrances as I live in Trinidad. Hopefully some day I will be able to. Cheers
I’m new to wearing fragrance and taking in lots of great info while exploring fragrance content creators. Your content stands apart due to your evocative descriptions, technical knowledge, and your fair assessments of fragrances. Thank you for sharing your passion for perfumery.
I have Oud Wood and Oud Noir. I like them both but I prefer Oud Noir only because it lasts longer although the TF smells better IMO. Yet to have Oud Wood Parfum at my place so I can't wait to test it once it enters the market here.
Sorry for the long comment but, I want to say that I am glad I found your channel. I love fragrances and have since I was a child. My first fragrance was Old Spice then I graduated to Drakkar Noir, Curve, Cool Water, and many more, Liz Clayborne and Chanel "Allure" being my favorite. Now I can afford a more expensive house Maison Frances Kurkdjian and TF being my two favorites. Keep up the good work and I'll continue to watch, Like, and support!
Babbling is great! No worries! Versace Oud Noir is fairly bright and aggressive (and mineral/metallic) upon first spray. I’m ok with it, my wife does not like it. But the longer it stays on skin the better it gets. I enjoy the journey and consider it a very sophisticated, elegant wear on the whole. Once those top notes recede my wife likes it, and we both love the dry down. It’s a fantastic “dress to impress” choice. Oud Wood is a classic, but I can rarely smell it. Way too light for me (and on me) and it doesn’t pack that “wow factor” that so many others do at this price point. Which is fine, because the Oud Noir does the trick, especially at less than half the price per 100ml.
Aaron, I've just watched a few of your older videos and I noticed your affection towards Parfums de Marly. What about a collaboration with them? Seriously! I believe it would be a massive story and that a fantastic fragrance would come out. It'd be historic!
Oh wow.... I have both bought independently of each other and have never considered layering together.Fantastic insight to these fragrances as always ATH!
I LOVE that review, with the bubbling for sure!!!. I completely agree, like both of them, but I really love Oud Wood. It's been in my collection since 2020 and every time I wear it, I love more. Regards
So hard to look past Oud Wood. Such a high quality feel in an easy to wear Oud fragrance and light as you say. Totally get what you say re Oud Noir being cold weather only. I currently have Antaeus for that role, but will consider Oud Noir for next Winter. Cheers Aaron. Always interesting content. And the babble is why we appreciate you. Real.... 😊
Spot on review as always. I enjoy the detail in which you go into the dna of the fragrances and when you do these comparisons, it helps differentiate between similar scents to help articulate what the rest of us trying to put words to. Thank you!
I have Versace, and it is absolutely fantastic, but it fades quickly on me. I haven't sampled Tom Ford yet, but the combination of the two would probably help considerably to last longer. Thank you for your input on this. It is much appreciated. Great production work, by the way.
I think there's really strong similarity, definitely same family 🙂 the pepperiness of oud noir is really what sets it apart for sure. I really like them both, but that sense of radiance and appeal of the original is really really great. I like the idea of layering them, I will definitely have to try that 🙂 thanks as always, Aaron!
Layer them - I'll give that a try. You're right, they are cousins. I prefer OW as the scent but ON performs better on me. Looking forward to the parfum.
I've never tried Oud Wood but have Oud Noir and love the initial scent. However, on me, it tends to faide very quickly. Which is weird, because I have oily skin and most fragrances last longer on me than on most people. Go figure.
My GF loves Oud Wood and she actually likes it the most when it's not on me. She likes to smell my dress shirts the day after. She says Oud Wood and a bit of my body order mixed with it is intoxicating. If I were you I'd create a fragrance that's like Oud Wood but for lack of a better way of saying it add a bit of male body order to it. Don't wear a fragrance and smell your shirts the next day and try to add that in.
I owned the Versace (gifted it away) and still own the TF. Oud Wood is, imo, head-over-heels better. So many complainers about the Ford longevity. Disagree. Three sprays to the sternum and I get easy 8 hours. Thanks for the great video.
Thanks for the video, the rambling is the best part. Never tried Versace oud noir, although heard much about it. Fragrance influencers always call it a good beginner oud. went with Oud malaki instead as beginner oud, but don't wear it a lot., it has kind of an old man smell to it. Will need to smell tom ford oud wood again in the shop, I recall it as being funky, so Im surprised you call it airy and light. but its been a long time ago smelling it. Also very curious to smell your fragrances here in europe the netherlands. Here we have skins cosmetics and the bijenkorf which sell niche perfumes. hopefully some day your perfumes get sold there too. and yes do your own take on as many good perfumes are you can.
I think people really love video like that :) will be so nice to see comparison between D&G Light Blue (for her) vs Versace Man eau Ftaiche - are very similar to each other
Hey Aaron if you are trying Oud wood similar fragrances please try KREDO by Nishane. You will be surprised how good that one is compared to oud wood as they took the oud wood dna and made it so much better it’s more oud, animalistic & very much long lasting.
Oud Wood is on my all time top list. Such an incredible scent, and the good old days of TF, when they were the best on the market (IMHO). I would love to see your take, on this masterpiece. btw, it's so hard to get your stuff. Always sold out. 😢😢😢
The OG Tom Ford Oud Wood and Tom Ford Noir EDP are my signature scents. I anticipate a welcome return to the original formulation with an Oud Wood Parfum release.
I have Versace Oud Noir 2015 batch tester bottle and its macerated about 5 years..The smell is very good and longevity is good too..not chemical at all..
Fragrance enthusiasts should be pleased to hear you interpret how you see scents work; it’s got that “Thing” which triggers something in the subconscious. These insights make for great fragrance reviews and discussion. This is not what I would call babbling, No need to apologize. 😎
I would love to see your take on oud wood, I think you could also take a classic like Royal Oud or Green Irish Tweed and make a more modern version of it. Frankly, I'm really surprised we haven't seen an official flanker of Green Irish Tweed from Creed. I think a Green Irish Tweed parfum would be incredible, as would a more light citrus Cologne version.
PLEASE AARON, please for the love of God do another review on gucci intense oud. With another decanter though, I’m convinced you had the woman’s version
Totally agree with you Aaron! Oud Wood is a masterpiece formulation but the light and airyness means it only lasts a few hours. Hopefully the Parfum fixes that! Also a dirty sexy ATH version of Oud Wood would be amazing😉 🤤
Please do your take on some of those classic TF fragrances that have died out, like K**T being relatable to Tuscan Leather. I would love to see your "Oud Wood" and "Tobacco Oud" but Tobacco Oud might be redundant since we will be getting Smoulder 2.0.
Aaron thank you very much for a great review as always 🙏 Could you review Nishane: Afrika-Olifant It is an amazing fragrance (my favourite) and I want to hear your thoughts and the assessment of the ingredients.
I was never thrilled with Oud Wood and even back in the day it didn’t last on my skin. I preferred and purchased (original) Oud Minerale and Oud Fleur.
Hey Aaron man I’m a fan of your work..why is it so hard to get your hard candy elixir every time your restock I miss out … lol I hear too many good things about it not to have it in my collection
It's the only one I'm missing from my collection. It always sells out before I can add enough to my cart to qualify for shipping to the US. Best I can figure, people buy the max amount of it (I think 3) to qualify for the shipping and check out immediately without adding anything else to the cart.
Very Interesting comparison. I have both TF Oud Wood and Versace Oud Noir. I 💜both scents and layering the airiness of Oud Wood with the heavier Oud Noir. sounds like a winner to me. Good work.
Thank you so much for this video! I have been working on a formula with hydroxycitronellal, and have been wondering why I couldn't quite get it to work properly. It feels, as you said, unfinished. I will definitely be looking for more lily of the valley materials.
Yea I’d love if you made your own monsterous oud wood interpretation. I think the Versace oud noir smells a lot cheaper and more synthetic. Between the two of them I’d say oud wood is red vines and oud noir is twizlers.
