Hi Aaron, thank you for making long lasting fragrances! I can't tell you how much coin I've shelled out on luxury fragrances that I've had to reply at work or during the day. With yours I spray before I leave and I'm good for the rest of the day⚡🦄

Love the reviews Aaron, also love how your fragrances project really well! I bought Tom Ford Ombré Leather EDP the other day and loved the scent but found it stopped projecting after 1-2 hours, it got me wondering whether you’d be able to make a fragrance that’s a cross between Ombré Leather and Xerjoff Naxos?? Your Onyx lasts forever and I love that so if you could apply your magic to the Naxos/Ombre hybrid then I reckon it’d sell really well! Keep up the great work! ✨

Hey Aaron! When it comes to whether or not a fragrance is worth it it is usually whether or not it's something I absolutely love or is particularly unique. As long as I can see myself wearing it repeatedly I am normally happy to pick it up.

Hi Aaron, thanks for another great review, when i think about value for money i do think about the performance of the fragrance but also the occasion that i can wear it (i live in somewhat hot climate so i dont need a 100ml bottle heavy cold weather fragrance). So my formula is: amount of fragrance x performance of the fragrance x number kf occasion i will wear it Also maybe you can do a youtube poll if you need an idea for what fragrance to chose.

In addition to the criteria you mentioned, I also consider how unique the fragrance is. I ask myself, "is this fragrance doing something unique with the materials its using to justify its price point? Or is there an alternitive that is much cheaper and smells nearly identical?" For example, Roja's Vetiver Parfum Cologn is very similar to Guerlain's Vetiver but dramatically more expensive. In which case I do not see the purpose of owning the Roja when the Geurlain smells about the same (arguably the inspiration for it) but for much less money.

First, thank you for the awesome content as always. Much love for your time, effort, and passion! :D As far as value for money, I'm right there with you. When I'm paying top-dollar for high-end perfumery, the materials used play a big part in how I decide. How it performs based on what it smells like it's intended to do. I've heard from many folks who over-value their opinions in the fragrance community that "performance shouldn't matter" but I think it's obvious that's a pretentious delusion. Performance, on some level, absolutely matters. And of course...how does the scent make me feel. Does it tug on my heart-strings in some way a la blissing out, a beautiful scent memory, or something of the like.

For me value is in, initially loving the fragrance then backed up with longevity. I’m ok if it doesn’t project too much although that’s a bonus but my priority is that I can enjoy a scent for hours in my bubble. I do like the presentation too as in a nice bottle etc as it’s all part of the experience. Love your fragrances I’ve tried so far, haze black, home, forbidden. Just ordered raw cherry and notorious which I’ve smelled before and love.

I'm only interested in niche fragrances, which tend to be pricy sometimes. I'll spend the money if they meet the following criteria.... 1. I have to love a scent and it must ooze quality. 2. It has to perform. It doesn't need to fill up a room but it needs to last at least 8+ hours.

Yes Yes Yes Aaron Boadicea the Victorious is my wheel house 100% Ardent love it Awesome review . Definitely Uni Christian Provenzano Perfumer . So what's my direction in buying. 1. If I'm looking for a heavy set fragrance that gives off an awesome silage and excellent longevity. Check notes test first and if a scent is unique i won't bat an eye lid to pay $500-$1000+ for that perfect scent. 2. If scent is moderate but beautiful ingredients (Quaility) I would buy it But stay closer to $200-$300.

Well, I have a similar "checklist" as you do Aaron, longevity, materials and overall scent. Quick question, I've noticed that not many fragrances have Teakwood as a note, I've noticed Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Ebony Wood, Guaiac Wood but no Teakwood, why is that? Thank you for always giving great content and I cannot say it enough, I aboslutely love when you put the chemical names on top for us to read

Speaking of woods, an odd place to smell various types is at a guitar store. My dad has various types. A common type is Rosewood. A very different wood is Mahogany. African Bubinga was another one. A more rare type is Swamp Ash. Imagine creating Perfumes inspired by guitars. That could mix things up a bit.

Aaron, I can't stress this enough but you really really need to try perfumes from the " Orto Parisi " line, Alessandro Gualtieri is the perfumer that made "Pardon" and "Black Afgano" from the Nasomatto line, which if I'm not mistaken, you liked very much. The smells are just out-of-world artistic expressions. At least look at their website and see their presentations about their fragrances to see if it piques your interest. I tried "Terroni" from the orto parisi line, and it lasted for 36 hours on my skin. I am not joking, i showered twice in this time frame, and i could still smell it...

Hi Aaron, loving your channel. I own this fragrance, and adore it, i get so many compliments when im wearing it, However i do think the range gets a little pricey, with the high end BTV Sovereign retailing at £6,750. For me, the longevity is key for me. I expect a fragrance over $100 to last throughout at least most of my work day. Projection is pretty key too, I like to get wafts of it myself. But, if I had to sacrifice a little projection to keep brands from using a bunch of ambroxan, I would. I hate that ambroxan overdoses have become so popular because high doses of ambroxan make me noseblind within minutes and I can't even smell my frag any more.

I don’t know what they put in their $800 bottle, but I own Nemer, which is close to 600 usd and that perfume doesn’t go away. I sprayed it on a sweater before the pandemic, but took the sweater off right away as my husband didn’t like the smell. Over 2 yrs later I pull out the sweater from my closet and it still smells of Nemer.

Hello. So I always check for a good dry down. Some to me smell like an old man sweat(sour and weird funky woody smell and I hate it)😅 and i don’t think everyone can smell it because when I tell someone that I can smell it on them they’re like WTF??? Next I have to like the opening. I love openings that are beautifully and smoothly transitioning into the mid and then to the drydown. There has to be a touch of uniqueness. And then even if the price is higher I’ll buy it. So just few days ago I ordered Bottega veneta Illusione Bois nu which I loved the first time I smelled it. On notino it was dirt cheap 34€ for 50 ml. Before that I had moschino toy boy and I love that one❤ Btw thank you so much for your amazing content. I really really love watching you talk about your passion 🥰 it’s so lovely and motivating

For me, the bottle is what lures me in and appeals to me right off the bat; Especially since 99% of the time, the bottle is seen before the scent is smelled. The bottles are pure art when done well. The juice is just as important as the bottle however. I view the bottle similarly to how we dress, and the scent as our talent. Without both we are lacking.

Longevity / projection and aroma materials define if it worth for me. But I got to admit, yesterday I was spinning bottle of Scorpion Intense by Odyon and cap felt very cheap because of cheap plastic cap. Feels like Creed cheap cap. On the other hand PDM - quite simple bottles and the heavy cap. It just commands respect.

I’m impressed that you “approve “ of this one. Actually I miss the “Aaron Approved” banner you use to display. For me personally when buying a fragrance i don't really have knowledge of the amount of naturals in it or aroma chemicals etc i go purely by smell but i can tell some stuff has more harshness in the smell so I'd presume that is probably a lack of naturals I'm picking up, I prefer something long lasting i put long lasting well above projection I'd rather something sitting closer to my skin and lasting 8 to 10 hours than something that fills a building and everyone can smell it strong because even the nice smells can turn sickly if they overpowering you i think, I'm quite confident now in what i can smell i believe i can smell high quality in a fragrance, I can't say this is this amount of naturals etc i just sense quality it resonates and i can sense the opposite be it harsh synthetic i don't really have the words for exactly what I'm smelling always but i can definitely tell quality difference in fragrances so good quality and long lasting would be my main 2 focus points and obviously price has to be fair, not cheap and not ridiculously expensive either but fair

Value/ COST I’ve got to LOVE it. I’ve got to like the smell so much that I sometimes smell the bottle cap just to enjoy it. I want 6-8 sprays to last ALL DAY (6-8hrs) I want to want to smell like it even when I’m not wearing it. *if this is the case cost doesn’t matter. However, I’m unwilling to spend more than $200 for 100mL. Now I will spend $199 for a smaller quantity. (I’d spend $40-$60 for a 5 or 10ml) I just purchased a 5mL Onyx for $60 (and at that price 50mL would be $600), the retail price is $233/ 50mL Now if I just LOVED IT (and I mean excited to wear it all the time) I probably could justify the extra $33 since it is ATH, but it would really have to be out of this world wonderful. Matter of fact I’m wearing a discovery set fragrance. It’s dazzling. It’s beautiful. I smelled the cap earlier today. It hits all the marks BUT it’s $275.00 for 100mL Unless they provide a smaller quantity that sells for under $200 I’ll never own it.

When I think about "value for money" it always, always just comes down to the overall scent and, to a lesser extent, longevity. I don't care about what materials are in it or what they cost. That's the manufacturer's job/problem. I enjoy a good presentation, but I don't want my money to go into a bottle that I can admire, but won't use when the juice is gone. I don't care so much about projection as I prefer perfumes that waft around me rather than announce my presence. There are so many perfumes on the market that I'll never buy a bottle of or pay retail price because, at the end of the day, what I'm buying is the smile the perfume puts on my face and my spirit when I apply it. Many blessings!

My biggest issue with all of these fragrances on the market is the fact that maybe only 10% of them have their own unique scent that stands out. The other 90% of them are in the same category of smell and they use the same lame ingredients. The profit margins on most of these fragrances is astronomical!!!! I use to be deep into the fragrance Game, but over the last 2 years I've backed off a lot.

For me, value for money is very much dependent on the overall quality of the fragrance (though I cannot judge on the raw materials!) and cost per ml. I recently tried Roja's Parfum Colognes range and unfortunately I'm not sure they're worth the £245 price tag, and they just don't last on my skin, so longevity is a big factor too. It doesn't have to be a beast in terms of projection but if you can barely smell something after, say 4 hours, then it's a shame. Maybe the concentration is a factor as well, the higher the oil content the better the value? Dyptique seem to last very well on my skin, I'd love for you to review some of the Dyptique Eau de Parfum range, e.g. Volutes, Tam Dao, Orpheon.
@AaronTerenceHughes

@mikekirby2085 2 года назад
For me there needs to be something memorable and something needs to excite me. Longevity is a whatever and I’m not really that interested. Projection is kind of the same. As long as i can smell it I’m happy. I dont know material costs so i cant judge on that. If im blown away and cant stop sniffing and respraying, then that gets higher value. Too many scents just feel ‘fine’. You should sell your hedione ambroxan scent.

Ideally 1-1.5 dollar per ml is the sweet anything above 2.5 makes me question the buy it better nock my sock off For example I won’t pay 340 ambroxin grapefruit wood for tygar if it was ambergris i would think about it debating the material and naturals

Found 2 old tins I bought (drunk) at Xmas 2020, has a few of your old ones in and a few beauties. Daddy is immense, blood orange is just sublime and tabac is unbelievable. I'm trying to figure out which is my fav. All.if them are value for money if I bought it. I bought an old oud of yours and I did t like it, very much pencil shaving vibe, not worth the money. It purely is how emotionally I connect with a frag as to whether it is worth it

When I think about "value for money", my main methodology is to look at the profile and to look at the comparable fragrances (whether they be identified by myself or by Fragrantica/Parfumo). Once I know what the comparables are, assuming I like the profile, I see what the comparables are being priced at. Very simple example: Hacivat vs. Aventus. I believe 100ml on both is around €300 (the Nishane is 320, the Creed is 295). At that point, it becomes a comparison between longevity/sillage + which alteration I like more. In this case, I would genuinely rather buy Morning Chess from Vilhelm (100ml for 210) or Cedrat Boise from Mancera (120ml for 125), and fully skip on both Hacivat and Aventus. For what it's worth, I'm an experienced collector, so I have all 4 either way. I alternate between them as gym scents.

may i also suggest looking at the size of the company in determining value for money! Massive companies pay lower pay to staff then smaller companies. Massive companies also have the buying power to get raw materials and packaging way lower due to the size they buy in at! This means lower cost per unit/higher profit ratio.

About the value for money - exactly like your opinion + the more expensive it is the more it had to be mind-blowing for me. Ford's Fucking Fabulous smells of beachballs rubber for me and I don't care how expensive the materials are

in addition to raw materials, lasts and projects... the blend. A good smooth blend makes it expensive.

I value balanced fragrances that are long lasting but not cloying. Its obviously an extremely hard task to do well, so far I have two ATHs and love them. TBH I will never go past $250USD / 100ml probably ever.
