Literally one of the most distinctive, alluring, musky, sexual and attracting scents I've ever owned. I have had so many stop me and ask what I'm wearing. Both men and women. But men at first may initially think its too feminine, but i disagree. I think if you want to be noticed, distinctly recognized, while also smelling very sensual and masculine, this is a great parfum. I love it. Love your analysis.

Absolutely love this one Mr. Hughes. You wearing the fragrance around for a day before giving your reviews ads a whole new dimension that I don't see much on youtube reviews. Being able to get an experts opinion on the performance, longevity and projection from their experience is massive. Thanks for all the information you give to us novices!

Love your videos and content you are one my favorite reviewer, have you ever thought about making a book of perfume Marine the things that inspired you to get into fragrances. Things you love a bit of a biography but the life that the fragrances have taken you on. Within that book maybe also share some fragrance recipes that we could make here at home and spark and fuel the fire of fragrance lovers all around.

Good review mate. Many of the big RU-vid reviewers came out and said this was a better performing version of the original and one of the best releases of 2020. However It was quite alarming that in many of the fragrance groups im part of this has been for sale by lots of people. General feedback is that it becomes linear quite quickly and isn't a great release. I have learned to wait at least a month after a fragrance is released so watch a wide variety of reviews of a fragrance. A parfum should be better performing than an edt.

This is one of the things that really irritates me. I own the EDP for about 4 years, and it's good stuff. Leave it alone! These houses (i'm a tom ford fanboy) that throw out edt, edp and parfum versions are just taking advantage of the consumer. Then we get the extreme and intense versions! When unfortunately we get the sport and aqua releases, that's the time I start banging my head against a wall, hoping to cave my skull in. 🤯

Eau de parfum black orchid is so full of layers .. cant get enough of it! Never! Parfum black orchid is also beautiful but i can only find 2 layers, its more sharpe(rum?) and its stays more with ya.. For me the eau de parfum is the one!

I am from Martinique, a small island from France where they produce the best rhum in the world and I love this fragrance. The rhum is really amazing in it with the patchouli. It smells luxurious masculine to me, nothing smells like it in the market. As a student it’s very expensive for me but i’ll buy it one day…

Never got round to getting edt version but will do for winter this year. Iike sometimes using one spray of my partners alien fusion on back of my neck and wear 4 sprays of dior savage edp nice combo. As i walk past you get the savage but with a tail of alien fusion cutting through it. Lol

I bought a sample of this then sprayed a little on my wrist and went to work...12 hours later I could still smell it so I was sold...totally loved the dry down so went and ordered a 100 ml bottle. My mistake was confusing longevity as a skin scent thinking in-between it would offer beast mode projection. I was sooo disappointed, I was lining this up to be my new signature scent, knocking Oud For Greatness off its top spot. Black Orchid Parfum is, sadly, not one of my wisest of purchases.

Maybe add a layer of Animalix! That’s the change this needs... 🦄

To my nose sir, BOEDP smells like old woman at drydown just like my decant mancera black gold (feminine). BOP is unisex and versatile to wear by men. I can smell the slight booziness of the rum. Anyway, I like your hand movements that make your vids look alive. Keep it up sir.

I got a decant of the EDP Black Orchid. I bought a used bottle of the Parfum. The EDP is so good. I wish there was a combination of that lovely chocolate and booziness. Parfum sits so close to skin. :(

I wanted to wear Black Orchid but feel it’s a little feminine for my personality… however, its creative ethos OOZES my personality. So it was not an option for a first fragrance for me, but was an excellent option for part of my collection

I disagree that it doesn't contain ylang ylang. Black orchid contains germacrene D, Methyl benzoate, Farnesol, α-Farnesene, Methyl heptenone, Alpha humelene, Benzyl benzoate, 1,8 cineole, Cadinene, alpha ylangene, Prenyl acetate, Terpinen-4-ol and beta caryophylene, all of which are present in ylang ylang. Of course some of these could be sourced as aromachemicals but to me the quality of especially the opening is indicative of a high quality ylang ylang extra fraction. With regards to projection I agree, I think the most likely reason is the ban on lyral. Lyral was used in many perfumes and since its ban and the forced reformulation of perfumes, they do not project anywhere near as well. A classic case of this is dior jadore which is a shadow of the old formulation

I have always loved black orchid and bought a bottle last year. The performance on mine is crap and I bought it from an accredited boutique at retail cost. I think the tester is the original formula and the bottles for sale are from the reformulated batch.After spraying from the tester at the boutique I once had a lady follow me across the road and into a shop to inquire what I had on. I am really disappointed with my bottle.

I have the black Orchid Edp and for me is strong, i smell this parfum but is more dark and too beast, too strong. But prefer Edp beacuse is gourgeous 💜

I just received my bottle yesterday. I do love the initial smell giving that sweet dark scent but I as well am a little disappointed with the projection. I was hoping the parfum concentration would really jump out at you.

This comment is 3 years later, but I just got Black Orchid Parfum and the array of notes as well as projection is amazing. Maybe this just works with my skin chemistry? I'm an operations manager in a warehouse, and my coworker told me how nice i smelled, what it was, etc. and she was about 4 feet away from me across a table in a warehouse (about 350K sq/ft). I had 5 sprays on me, and this happened after about 4 hours of having the parfum on.

Now when I'm more into fragrances and my nose has learnt what I love and what is true perfume, I'm more picky when buying a fragrance, but with your reviews, I can trust your words. Please review Tom Ford Fucking Fabolous! Or Initio - Oud for Greatness. I'm really curious about your thoughts on these.

Totally agree with you Aaron. I was so underwhelmed by it. It sits too close to the skin and lacks the beast mode of the original. Also couldn’t detect the plum notes. Very disappointed.

I told myself I wouldn't buy until you reviewed it! I adore the original black orchid but when I heard from other reviews that the gold bottle's formula downplays the truffle-ish earthy notes I was admittedly hesitant, that's my favorite facet of the original.

For a beautiful and challenging fragrance, get ATH Arabica. The Spanish Lavender gave me a Cedarwood and Bergemont vibe. But then the coffee and vanilla tinctures threw me off at first, but afterwards just turned gorgeous!

There are literally 1000s of fragrant orchids.

It's one of the few fragrances that contain Farnesol. I still didn't get what it's used for. What sort of scent does it add? Is it used to create the fake Ylang-Ylang note?

When you say the original, are you referring to the EDT?

"Not diffusive." That must be what the Mugler plastic flask thick tupperware pains-in-the-ass where going for. Sometimes those things just spray out a damn pee stream if you don't push down the awkward plastic button just right. Cheers Aaron, I will consider checking this out, hope all is well with you.

I just got a decant of the original last week.. To me it was far too feminine.. I couldn't understand how it could be classed as unisex.. I give my wife it and she says its too masculine 🤷🏻‍♂️

It's always annoyed me when all these higher concentrations come out, the performance and/or longevity suffers so much. Heck, look at Sauvage. I wish that these companies quit milking a name to death like they do with Cool Water and Le Male.
